Chapter 43

5 min read1,274 words

In the night, figures ran swiftly along the highway, passing through abandoned vehicles and roads stained with dried blood, a scene reminiscent of the end of the world, which did not allow these figures to pause for a moment.

The figures continued to run, run, run, passing through the streets of Melbourne, moving forward in the black night, like spreading ink, trailing along the desolate road.

Li Mu was among these figures, taking steady steps, calm and composed, but each step he took could cover a distance of several dozen meters. Even the figures running beside him, as fast as the wind, could not leave Li Mu behind.

A red mutant parrot stood on Li Mu's shoulder, its wings folded like hands, firmly gripping a map found in a collapsed newsstand on the street, a map of Australia.

The red mutant parrot's eyes flickered, occasionally speaking to Li Mu and pointing out the route. The silent figures that darted past would occasionally stop to correct their course, carrying Li Mu forward quickly.

"We will take Highway 31, and we should reach Sydney by tomorrow night. Yes, that's right, just keep going forward."

The red mutant parrot flipped the map back and forth, its eyes flickering, a bit dizzy from the complex routes. Seeing Li Mu's gaze, it immediately smiled confidently, casually tossing the map aside, and said with certainty, "Trust me, it won't go wrong!"

Li Mu's expression was blank, and he nodded, his eyes cold. He took large strides, leaving the wilderness and desolation behind, along with the overturned, broken, and abandoned vehicles, dried blood, severed limbs, crows that had been startled away, and many wild beasts that had been disturbed along the way.

All of these were left behind by Li Mu and his army of zombies. This terrifying zombie tide moved quickly along the highway, heading towards Sydney, and nothing could stand in their way.

Perhaps this was the most terrifying army in the world, an undead legion that did not need supplies or ammunition, only moving forward, forward, forward. Anything that blocked their path would eventually become their food.

Such an army appearing in the apocalypse would make even humans, who had conquered space and the earth, tremble before this undead legion.

The silent advance lasted for about a day and a night. When the sunset of the next day was about to set, Li Mu suddenly raised his hand to stop the advance of the zombie army. His silver eyes were cold, devoid of emotion, and he looked coldly at the red mutant parrot.

The red mutant parrot was stunned, staring at the highway exit sign, which still bore the dried blood, and became frantic, "Damn it, we should be in Sydney now! Canberra, what the hell is this?! How did we end up here!"

Li Mu's eyes were cold, and he stared at the red mutant parrot, who became panicked and quickly flew up, fumbling, "Damn it, where's my map! We must have gotten lost. These idiots must have forgotten to turn at some intersection."

Bang!

Li Mu's expression was blank, and he swung the black bone spurs on his back, directly knocking the red mutant parrot, which was trying to hide the fact that it was lost, flying away.

The red mutant parrot pitifully lay on the ground, "Your Majesty, I'm sorry, I think we really got lost."

Li Mu's expression was blank. His fragmented memory could not help him recognize the words on the sign, but his keen senses could feel the city's rejection of him.

This place did not welcome him.

It did not welcome him, the king, nor his undead army. This was another country, the territory of another king.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Suddenly, explosions sounded, and terrifying zombie figures flew out from Canberra, slowly gathering at the highway exit. They moved like the wind, extremely fast, their blood-red eyes flickering with a bloodthirsty desire, and they stood fearlessly before Li Mu and his undead army.

The blood-red eyes were filled with savagery and ferocity, making the red mutant parrot scream and fly up, landing on Li Mu's shoulder, "Your Majesty, it seems we have provoked something formidable."

Li Mu's expression was blank, his silver eyes flickering. Several zombies that tried to approach him had their heads explode and died instantly, a result of Li Mu's mental control.

Li Mu was cold and ruthless, slowly raising his hand. The zombies surrounding him slowly dispersed, making way for a path. Li Mu took large strides, fearless, his silver eyes sweeping over the blood-red-eyed zombies.

These zombies, perhaps having undergone physical evolution, did not concern Li Mu. His eyes flickered as he looked deeper into Canberra.

The entire scene was almost frozen, as if all the zombies in Australia had gathered at the highway exit. The black mass of zombies was silent and ferocious, emitting a savage aura.

The only difference was that a group of zombies stood outside the intersection, while another group stood inside, separated by a crosswalk, like the boundary between Chu and Han, isolating each other.

On the other side of the intersection, the tide of zombies continued to gather, becoming more and more numerous, as if all the zombies in Canberra had been concentrated there, densely packed, their blood-red eyes flickering, their savage aura raging, and occasional uncontrollable roars could be heard.

"Your Majesty, there are too many of them. Why don't we turn back? This time, I will definitely pay attention to the map and won't get lost again."

The red mutant parrot was trembling with fear.

"When two tigers fight, one must be injured. A strong dragon does not suppress a local snake. Your Majesty, let's let them off."

The red mutant parrot was truly afraid, seeing the zombies gathering more and more, and some of them were clearly not to be trifled with.

There were zombies over three meters tall, and others whose arms had turned into bone knives like Li Mu's. These zombies had clearly evolved multiple times and were extremely terrifying.

Li Mu's expression was blank, and he gave the red mutant parrot a cold look, which immediately silenced it.

Screech!

A sharp screech sounded, and the zombies on the other side slowly made way for a path. A zombie of normal human size slowly walked out, followed by a six-meter-tall zombie that moved like a tank, each step causing the highway to sink, the ground shaking like a Titan from mythology.

On the shoulder of the six-meter-tall zombie, a small, emaciated zombie with a disproportionately large head rode, its face ferocious, its silver eyes flickering with blood, and it stared at Li Mu without fear.

Li Mu's silver eyes instantly flickered with blood, and a savage aura rose. Without a sound, the undead army behind him roared and charged at the zombies on the other side without hesitation, like lightning.

The small king on the six-meter-tall zombie suddenly became enraged, its silver eyes turning blood-red, and it screeched continuously. The zombies it had summoned instantly moved, and countless figures charged out.

The undead army clashed with the zombie tide, and a brutal battle unfolded under the sunset.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The normal-sized zombie guarding the king screeched, grabbed the steel guardrail of the highway, and it instantly twisted. A nearby building collapsed, and all metal objects moved according to the zombie's will, turning into a steel flood, rushing towards Li Mu.

This was an X-type zombie, capable of controlling magnetism like Magneto in the movies, a terrifying X-type zombie.
