Chapter 44

"Here are the jammer specifications you requested."

In Chengping's laboratory, Luoshui, though somewhat thinner, remained as graceful as ever. She spoke calmly and transmitted the data to Dr. Manhattan on the other end of the computer.

"Now, tell me, what exactly do you know!"

Dr. Manhattan smiled ambiguously, flipping through the newly acquired data and casually said, "We found something interesting. Some space debris fell. Yes, it landed in Melbourne. It might be from the Future, or it might not be."

Luoshui's face instantly changed. "What did you say?! The Future crashed in Melbourne?! Yes, I should have thought of that. Even if the Future exploded, there would still be debris. So, did you find the pendant in the Future? What about Li Mu? Is he... is he okay?"

Dr. Manhattan naturally understood what Luoshui meant. After the explosion in outer space, Luoshui wouldn't think Li Mu was still alive; she just wanted to know if his remains were intact.

Dr. Manhattan shook his head. "I'm very sorry. You know, after such an explosion, there's no way any body could remain intact. For Li Mu, he is a hero of humanity. Rest assured, after we finish sorting through the debris, we will conduct DNA comparisons. If we collect any remains, I will preserve them well or return them to you..."

"But I still have some questions about this serum. Is it really just a matter of extracting the spinal fluid from the zombies? Could there be something else..."

Dr. Manhattan only spoke halfway, but how could Luoshui not understand? She took a deep breath, suppressing her anger and sorrow, and said coldly, "I will send you the data. I have only one request: you must hand over all the collected debris to me! Immediately, right now!"

"That might not be possible. Dr. Luo, you know that the first zombie evolution wave is only half a month away. We must be prepared, so the matter of the Future's debris will have to be postponed. However, if you are willing to help us quickly perfect our plan to deal with the first zombie evolution wave, perhaps we will speed up the collection of the debris."

Dr. Manhattan smiled.

"You are extorting me." Luoshui said coldly, her hand slowly clenching as she glared at Dr. Manhattan.

"If you want to think that way, I can't help it. But I think this is just a deal. I give you what you want, and you give me what I want. Fair, isn't it?"

Dr. Manhattan said.

Luoshui fell silent for a moment, then nodded. "I will meet all your demands. In three days, I want to see Li Mu's... ashes in front of me."

"Three days is impossible. Half a month, after the first zombie evolution wave, I will send a plane to bring you what you want." Dr. Manhattan said coldly.

Luoshui was not good at negotiating. She fell silent for a moment. She didn't want to haggle over Li Mu's remains; it would be a desecration. So she just nodded, "Alright."

With that, Luoshui hung up the communication, took a deep breath, and stood up. She knew what Dr. Manhattan wanted: the complete defense plan for the first zombie evolution wave from the Chengping base.

That was the highest-level secret, which even Luoshui, with her status, did not have the authority to access. But now she had to get that plan and leak it to Dr. Manhattan.

This might be difficult, and she might even be charged with treason, but Luoshui didn't care. She had only one thought: she must retrieve the last traces of Li Mu in this world and let the man she loved rest in peace.

This was the only thing she could do for Li Mu while she was alive, and she would not regret it even if she died nine times.

"Such a generous and blind woman, isn't she?"

Seeing the cut-off communication, Dr. Manhattan was unconcerned. He turned and smiled, waving the data in his hand. "Alright. Get to work. Equip all the base's missiles with jammers within a day. We don't have much time."

"Also, you all heard that. China Luo wants Li Mu's ashes, so tell me where number 4000 is now?"

Dr. Manhattan sneered. "What a lucky woman. Tell me, if I tell her that her man might have turned into a zombie, and even a king, do you think she could bring herself to kill him? What an interesting proposition. Perhaps I should really tell her the truth."

"You're a bastard!"

General Soros couldn't help but curse under his breath.

Dr. Manhattan was unconcerned. "Don't worry, General. I know my limits. I won't tell China Luo this cruel fact until we get what we want."

"General, Doctor. We have successfully located number 4000. He is now in Canberra..."

Dr. Manhattan's pupils instantly constricted. "How did he get to Canberra? I need precise data, and speed up the equipping of the jammers. Interesting, it seems our prey is not content to be prey this time."

...

Boom! Boom! Boom!

At the entrance to the Canberra highway, Li Mu's undead army clashed with the zombie horde led by another king in the city.

The zombies that Li Mu and the other king could control were not the slow, unevolved ones. Although most were M1-type zombies, they displayed terrifying speed and strength.

Bodies collided without retreating, fearless and weaponless, but every part of their bodies was a weapon. Claws, bites, and stomps—these controlled zombies turned their flesh into indestructible weapons, crashing together in a brutal and bloody battle.

The highway entrance was not small, but it clearly couldn't accommodate the combined over 50,000 zombie army. Even though the king in Canberra had more zombies, he couldn't turn his numerical advantage into a battlefield advantage.

However, the king clearly controlled several zombies that had evolved more than once. A giant zombie over six meters tall, suspected to be an M4, served as the king's guard, firmly protecting him.

But another zombie, an X-type with magnetic control, displayed a terrifying ability that could turn the tide of the battle.

All metal objects twisted, deformed, and turned into a terrifying steel flood, rushing towards Li Mu's undead army.

Moreover, this battlefield was in Canberra, a city built of concrete and steel. Everything around could become a weapon for the X-type zombie. Just the X-type zombie standing at the entrance was enough to hold the line against thousands.

If there were no king, the X-type zombie might be the undisputed king among zombies.

"We're going to die, we're going to die! Where did such a freak come from!"

The red mutant parrot screamed. The X-type zombie was too terrifying. The steel barriers of the highway were completely twisted by the X-type zombie's will, turning into steel wires as fast as lightning, piercing through the zombies charging forward.

Li Mu's undead army was completely helpless against the X-type zombie. Li Mu's face was expressionless, his eyes silver, as he stared at the X-type zombie.

The X-type zombie sneered, slapped his hand, and suddenly flew into the air. With a wave of his hands, two buildings shook and rose into the air, like two Mount Tai, moving according to the X-type zombie's will.
