Chapter 17: Captivity

【Nine】

Reality often told a story, and its main theme was Cruelty. Ye Qingling blankly stared at the tear by Wu Zhi’s eye, silent. He staggered as he rushed to embrace the unmoving Wu Zhi on the wheelchair. Just like the countless nights in the past when he hugged the sleeping Wu Zhi in fear and in search for a chance to breathe. But Ye Qingling only felt Wu Zhi’s body grow increasingly colder. He tightened the embrace, but still failed to warm him up. Ye Qingling thought in a daze, why was it different now? Why couldn’t he feel a single rise in Wu Zhi’s chest anymore? Why couldn’t he feel Wu Zhi’s heartbeat anymore?

A voice in his mind was telling him coldly: Let go of him. He’s already dead.

Dead…?

“Wu Zhi…”

Ye Qingling anxiously kissed Wu Zhi’s lips, sticking in his tongue in search of that disappearing warmth.

Look, his mouth was still warm.

Ye Qingling tore apart Wu Zhi’s clothes, kneading hard enough against Wu Zhi’s chest for it to redden and warm up.

Look, his body was still soft and warm.

Ye Qingling’s fingers entered Wu Zhi’s body, feeling the inner tightness and warmth.

Look, the inside of his body was still warm.

But…

Why was all of the warmth slowly subsiding? Ye Qingling hugged Wu Zhi, panicked, burying himself into Wu Zhi’s body.

“Wu Zhi, Wu Zhi, Wu Zhi, the wind is rising. You feel cold, right? Don’t be scared, let me warm you up. I’ll warm you up.”

Beneath the cotton fluttering through the sky, Ye Qingling held Wu Zhi tightly, hugging him with all his four limbs, massaging him with all he had, madly attempting to transmit his own heat to Wu Zhi.

But in his arms, Wu Zhi only grew colder and colder. Grew stiffer and stiffer. After a bout of madness, Ye Qingling froze on the original spot as though someone had pressed a pause button. That corpse which gradually lost life fell onto the ground like a puppet, limbs stiff and twisted together messily.

That voice was repeating unsparingly: Wu Zhi… is already dead.

Dead…?

Did that mean he could never see his smile again? That he could never hear his voice again? Wu Zhi was dead. He vanished from Ye Qingling’s world.

Hahahahahaaaaah…… AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH—

Ye Qingling began crackling. The smile on his snow-white face was both breathtaking and deranged.

Dead? How can death snatch him away from my arms! He’s mine! Mine! Wu Zhi is Ye Qingling’s, he’s Ye Qingling’s!!!

The darkness in the depths of Ye Qingling’s eyes grew heavier and heavier, with occasional flashes of red. He wounded Wu Zhi’s chest with a scratch, and cackled as he cut his own wrist, dripping a large pool of blood on the wound. Ye Qingling moved his bleeding wrist to Wu Zhi’s mouth, tempting him.

“Come, Wu Zhi, drink up. It’s very delicious.”

Naturally, a dead person could not move. Ye Qingling just shoved his wrist to Wu Zhi’s mouth lovingly.

The large concentration of blood caused a rapid reaction. Wu Zhi’s whole body began to rot. Springing up from his wound, the water puscles swiftly spreaded throughout the body. They squeeze each other and then burst, sending yellowish-green pus flying— Throughout this entire process, Ye Qingling had an entrancing smile as he warmly looked on.

It was not like they had never thought of infecting and mutating Wu Zhi, but Wu Zhi’s body was completely unsuitable — the virus would only corrupt everything in Wu Zhi’s body, even swallowing up all of his reason. Wu Zhi would become a zombie that was no different from the lowest type roaming outside — a zombie corpse that followed only its instincts. Wu Zhi had rejected that suggestion. He had roared at Ye Qingling in rage: That’s not me!!!

Ye Qingling could almost hear that person’s furious roar that was full of life. Oh, right. Back then, Wu Zhi stopped him, so Ye Qingling removed the virus from Wu Zhi’s body again and again — he knew how to deal with those viruses. But what about now? Ye Qingling pressed on his face, laughing maniacally. Who could stop him? The person known as Wu Zhi in this world was already dead! Already dead! He would never hear Wu Zhi’s voice again, never see Wu Zhi smile at him or get angry at him again. There was no longer someone called Wu Zhi who could stop his madness, no longer someone for whom his affection seeped right down into his very bones.

So, since no one stopped Ye Qingling, Ye Qingling could do as he wished. That was how it was, right?

“Wu Zhi.” Ye Qingling caressed the rotted face of the corpse, as he warmly, sweetly beamed, “I’m blaspheming you, you know—”

“Are you furious?” Like a child yearning for candy, he looked at Wu Zhi in anticipation. “Then, get up and firmly discipline me. Hit me. Kill me— Hehe—”

“Come on, get up, get up, Wu Zhi.” Ye Qingling’s smile grew increasingly demonic. “I’ll make you get up. I’ll make you move— Then, we can always be together— Hahaha aaahh…. Aaaahhhh…”

As if in response to Ye Qingling’s words, the corpse slowly began to move. It was a rotting, grotesque zombie whose nervous system had been completely taken over by the virus. This corpse was their toy. Even though Ye Qingling knew this, even though he knew this was only an empty shell of a walking corpse, Ye Qingling was still madly over the moon the instant he saw “Wu Zhi” moved. Fiercely, without care of anything else, he pulled that rotting corpse into a fierce hug, laughter unhinged as tears streamed down his cheeks.

“Wu Zhi, Wu Zhi, Wu Zhi, you still can’t bear to leave Ye Qingling, right?”

The decaying corpse “obediently” lay in Ye Qingling’s arms. It instinctively sensed that what restrained it was an all-powerful existence. But it did not take long for it to turn irritable and uneasy. Its instincts urged it to tear apart every moving object in its vision, and then consume them for evolution— So, the rotting corpse chomped down on Ye Qing’s shoulder, tearing off a piece of flesh and chewing it.

“Wu Zhi, Ye Qingling gave up on the entire world. He only has you now.”

Ye Qingling completely disregarded the corpse’s actions. It was as if the corpse was munching on something else that was not his flesh. He merely tightened his hold on his “Wu Zhi”, unwilling to let go.

“This is good.” Ye Qingling softly muttered. “Like this, we’ll always be together.”

The corpse greedily chewed on his shoulder until it was mere white bones. Ye Qingling chuckled softly. It was simply similar to “Wu Zhi” biting down on his shoulder whenever he wanted to vent.

“I’m very happy, Wu Zhi…”

Following Ye Qingling’s neck upwards, the rotting body munched on his ear. Ye Qingling thought affectionately, Wu Zhi’s favorite thing to do was to lick his ear and stir up his sexual desire before wickedly stopping right there and leaving.

“Wu Zhi is terrible, and Ye Qingling is also completely terrible; Ye Qingling went insane, so he dragged Wu Zhi to go insane together. Wu Zhi, look, Wu Zhi will always be together with Ye Qingling. We are one, you know…”

The corpse’s hard tongue already followed the chewed off ear and stuck into the ear hole. It penetrated deeply, wanting to suck out Ye Qingling’s brain juices. That was the best part of it— Ye Qingling closed his eyes, a quiet smile on his lips.

“Wu Zhi, Ye Qingling likes you, he likes you so much he could almost die.”

……

His consciousness faded away in an instant. Blood splattered on Ye Qingling’s glasses and slid down, making those blood red pupils seem even more frightening.

Ye Qingling raised his head blankly. He blinked. And blinked. The blood-seeped redness slowly subsided. His vision was still filled with the dancing cotton that looked like dying feathers. Ye Qingling was seated in a daze surrounded by the ever-present snow-colored cotton. His right hand was even holding a slimy brain. Its original owner had already collapsed in front of him. There was a black, gigantic hole through the rotten head. Some of the fluids from the head were still joined with the brain in Ye Qingling’s hands.

Ye Qingling wanted to laugh, but he could only emit an empty, broken sound. Right before his death, Ye Qingling had lost consciousness. He did experienced such situations before. In all of them, he had lost consciousness the very moment he entered a life-or-death situation. When he regained consciousness, everything was resolved — the virus would let out the strongest alarm and call for restraints: they would not let their host die. For their survival, they took over the nervous system, removing every existence that threatened the host’s safety. For instance, they would dig out that low-level zombie’s brains who clearly did not know its place and tried to eat Ye Qingling.

How comical. Ye Qingling pressed his eyes, breaking into loud laughter. He can’t die, he can’t die, he can’t die— He did not even need to try to know. He can’t die. He can’t even kill himself. Those little things in his body would forcibly pull him back to safety the instant he chose death.

Wu Zhi, your curse is effective. You’re so amazing. My Wu Zhi is the most amazing.

Ye Qingling held up the brain in his hands, the smile on his face so, so charming and demonic.

Wu Zhi, Wu Zhi, Wu Zhi, so this is you. How cute. So small, so soft, and so sticky.

Bringing the brain to his face, Ye Qingling rubbed his cheek against that soft, slimy grey object. Then, he brought it to his lips and kissed it.

How cute. Far too cute.

Ye Qingling stretched out his tongue, following and lapping up the gorges on the brain’s surface.

Wu Zhi, how can you be so cute? I can’t restrain myself anymore.

Plop—

That, was the sound of something breaking and a liquid flowing out.

Ye Qingling buried his head in his hands. He carefully chewed, licked, not even letting go of a single bit of flesh or fluid. Just like countless times in the past. For every body part he changed out of that person, he ate them piece by piece, accepting that person’s every single part into his stomach. Not a single grain was exempted. In this world, only Ye Qingling can possess all of Wu Zhi.

Wu Zhi was still as delicious as he was before. Hey, if that was the case…

Ye Qingling rubbed his stomach. The curvature of his bloated stomach was one of insanity and grief.

We are one now…

We’ll always be together now.

++++++++++++++Using my body to keep all of you in captivity++++++++++++++++

“Wu Zhi, we saw Jimmy today. He’s Belen’s grandson. Are you happy?”

Tsk. If that damn brat didn’t run that far, I’d have throttled him on my wheelchair!

“Wu Zhi, the wind is rising.”

Pfft. Ye Qingling, you became a birdman again, hahaha…

“Do you feel cold?”

I’m gonna become a rice dumpling from all these layers you put on me!

Ye Qingling took off his jacket, and passed it over.

“Put it on.”

…Ye Qingling, do you even understand what I said!

“I’m very scared, Wu Zhi. I don’t want to ever see you without any warmth again.”

…Fuck! You really know how to act pitiful! And I’m just fucking weak to it!

“You promised me, Wu Zhi.” Ye Qingling pushed the wheelchair, chuckling softly. “We’ll always be together.”

The wind gently blew past, sending Ye Qingling’s black strands flying. They watched the empty wheelchair hung with a jacket, and disappeared with a sigh.
