Rui Li’s family owed a lot of money because the supermarket encountered some issues with goods importation. Her father had no choice but to borrow some money from the loan sharks. However, this does resolve the issue at all. And now, her father is in the hospital and she has to settle the matters.

“How do you plan to deal with it?” asked Mo Beichen.

“I’ll sell the supermarkets for others to manage.” Rui Li replied emotionlessly.

“Okay. We’ll leave first.” Mo Beichen entered the lift with Xia Weilan.

In the lift, Xia Weilan couldn’t help but say, “Hubby, are we really going to stand aside and watch Rui Li’s family go bankrupt?“

To Mo Beichen, Rui Li’s debt is nothing but a piece of cake.

“Don’t worry. Since Nan Fengyan knew about this, he won’t sit still without doing anything. Rui Li doesn’t want me to get involved with this. But I’m sure that Nan Fengyan will help her secretly.” Mo Beichen was certain.

Xia Weilan let out a sigh when she recalled poor Nan Fengyan looking so happy although he was already heavily wounded.

“Do you think Rui Li will fall for Nan Fengyan?“ Xia Weilan asked.

“Well, it’s not entirely impossible,” said Mo Beichen.

If it was before, he wasn’t too sure about this. But after seeing how devastated Rui Li was when they found her outside of the operations theatre, there’s a possibility that they would get together.

In the ward, the nurse is taking Nan Fengyan’s body temperature. He seized the opportunity to ask the nurse, “Why does it seem like the painkiller is not effective? My leg is feeling sore and numb now.”

The nurse explained, “It seemed like the effect of the anesthetic had worn out. Bear with it for a moment. I’ll get you some painkillers.”

Nan Fengyan felt really uncomfortable. He asked the nurse if there’s anything wrong with his leg. Luckily, the nurse informed him that he sustained some superficial injuries and would recover in a month’s time.

Nan Fengyan finally felt at ease.

At this moment, the short message notification alert on his phone sounded.

‘Young Master, we have some news for you. Rui Li’s family business was hit by a financial crisis. They are already auctioning their assets. Moreover, her father has been hospitalized after a heart attack.

Nan Fengyan didn’t expect that things would be so bad. He immediately replied, “We must buy it no matter what.”

When Rui Li returned to the ward, she saw Nan Fengyan playing with his phone. She walked over and poured a bowl of porridge and passed it to Nan Fengyan, “You are still in the mood to play your phone. Finish the porridge!”

Nan Fengyan drank the porridge while staring at her. She looked calm. She doesn’t even look like someone who was bothered by problems. He couldn’t help but feel sorry for her.

“I’ve already rented a room nearby. I’ll take care of you until you recover.” Rui Li stood still beside him. The other reason is that her father is also in the same hospital. It’ll be convenient for her to take care of them.

“Go home and get some rest.” Nan Fengyan saw that although she seemed calm, she was exhausted.

“Okay.” Rui Li closed the door behind her gently. She noticed that she must be having bad luck recently. She went up the stairs and walked toward his father’s ward. His father had a heart problem. He eventually collapsed due to the high amount of stress he experienced lately.

Rui Li stared at her father’s peaceful sleeping face through the window. The door opened gently and she greeted her mother softly.

After her mother walked out from the ward, she asked in a low voice, “Why are you here? How’s the company’s situation?”

“Mom, we can’t keep the company. I’ll sell off the company.”

Rui Li thought that her mother would be disappointed. She didn’t expect to see her mother let out a sigh of relief, “That’s fine. At least, we don’t need to worry about the company’s matters. Your dad hasn’t been able to get any good sleep lately.”

“Mum, I’ve already paid off the money that we owed. Tell dad to rest more. Don’t let him know about the company’s situation as I’m worried that he wouldn’t be able to take the news.”

“Alright. I know that you are capable.”

Rui Li talked to her mother for a while more before returning to a nearby apartment. After washing up, she threw herself on the bed. The scene of Nan Fengyan with his life on the stake at the side of the road keeps replaying in her mind. She flipped around the bed in distress and eventually fell asleep around three in the morning.

The next morning.

It was already eight o’clock in the morning when Rui Li woke up. She quickly sat upright and rushed to the hospital after washing up. While she was on the way to the hospital, she received a transaction notification alert on her phone. She checked her phone and found out that it was a 40 million dollars incoming transaction.

It came from the auction office.

Her phone rang. “Miss Rui, your company was sold. Have you received the full payment?”

“Yes, I’ve received it. But, how did we sell it at such a high price?”

Actually, Rui Li only expects to receive twenty million.

“Haha. Well, it’s an auction. As long as someone is bidding for it, it’s normal for the price to go high.” The manager smiled as he said. Actually, someone bid with such a high price in one shot. That person must be filthy rich.

“Thank you.” When Rui Li thanked the manager, she was already standing in front of Nan Fengyan’s ward.

She put away her home and opened the door. However, she was shocked by the scene before her eyes. Nan Fengyan already got off the bed and was limping while holding onto the edge of the table.

“What are you doing!” Rui Li raised her voice and immediately rushed over to support him.

Nan Fengyan placed his arm around her waist for support and lowered his head to stare at Rui Li’s beautiful face. His heart skipped a beat.

“I…I wanted to use the bathroom.”

Rui Li was stunned for a moment. She then helped him to the bathroom door and was about to step in with him.

“No. I can do this myself.” Nan Fengyan stepped in and closed the bathroom door. However, he let out an evil grin when he realized how Rui Li’s scent lingered around his body.

Early in the morning, Xia Weilan stared blankly at the mirror for a long while. She was feeling uneasy because last night, Mo Beichen confirmed that his car was indeed being tampered by someone.

They are not sure if someone was targeting Mo Beichen or Nan Fengyan.

Xia Weilan looked at herself in the mirror worriedly. However, a person came into her mind, Ouyang Mingqi.

She had always known that Ouyang Mingqi is a merciless person. Is it really him who wanted to claim Mo Beichen’s life?

But Xia Weilan wasn’t so sure about that. After all, she had no evidence saying that it’s him behind all this. And thus, her mind started to wander around.

Xia Weilan absentmindedly got ready and went downstairs. When she was in the dining room downstairs, Mo Beichen was having breakfast as if nothing happened.

“Eat your breakfast!” Mo Beichen said to Xia Weilan.

Xia Weilan sat at the dining table and noticed that she was holding the chopsticks that Mo Beichen used.

Mo Beichen suddenly stood up.

“Hubby, are you going to the office? It’s still very early.”

“Yeah. There’s something that I need to work on.” Mo Beichen replied casually.

“Give me two minutes. I’ll be ready soon!” Xia Weilan quickly swallowed a mouthful of porridge. Usually, it was Mo Beichen who sent her to work. After all, their offices were just across from each other.

“I’ll let the driver send you. I’ll make a move first.”

Once he finished speaking, he already took his coat and walked out.
