Nan Fengyan’s eyes brightened. Of course, he wanted her to repay him with her body. But he knew that there’s no way that she would agree. Thus, he said, “Sure. I’ll let you know when I need your help someday.”

Rui Li nodded.

After they finished dinner, Nan Fengyan offered to send Rui Li home.

“It’s okay. I can go home on my own.” Rui Li raised her hand to stop him.

“But, I’m worried about you…”

“Nan Fengyan. Have you forgotten what I used to be? Don’t worry.” After she finished her words, she patted his shoulder and raised her hand to flag down a taxi.

Nan Fengyan got into the Maybach and made a call, “Help me check what happened to Rui Li’s family. Quick.”

His brows were tied into a tight knot after he hung up the phone. He couldn’t feel at ease and so, he drove off in the same direction that Rui Li went. He followed behind her from a safe distance.

After the second traffic light, Rui Li noticed Nan Fengyan tailing her.

“Sir, can you drive faster please?”

Rui Li couldn’t help but urge. She knew that Nan Fengyan had good driving skills, there’s simply no way that she’ll be able to get rid of him. However, she subconsciously made that request. After she finished her words, she shook her head helplessly.

Seeing that the car in front of him suddenly picked up on speed, Nan Fengyan immediately stepped on the paddle to catch up. A van suddenly turned in from the junction and Nan Fengyan stepped on the brake calmly to give way to the van. His expression suddenly changed as the car didn’t slow down but continued to go full speed ahead.

In the nick of time, Nan Fengyan turned the steering wheel and managed to change the direction of the car when he was just about a few centimeters from crashing into the van. He crashed onto a big tree nearby.

‘Bang’ a loud noise was heard. Rui Li was startled.

“Young lady, it seems like the car behind us had an accident.” The taxi driver slowed down.

Rui Li’s expression changed drastically, “Quick, stop the car!”

A black car parked on the dark street. The headlights flickered. The man laid inside the car motionless. It seemed as though he was sleeping.

Rui Li rushed beside the car in shock. Her arms and legs seemed to have a mind of their own. She opened the car door and evaluated the condition inside the car. Nan Fengyan’s leg was bleeding. A pool of blood was formed underneath. His left leg was trapped in the driver’s chamber, twisted in a very unnatural way.

“Nan Fengyan!” Rui Li called his name and quickly carried him out of the car.

The sound of the ambulance’s siren was getting nearer. Rui Li’s body was stained with blood from Nan Fengyan’s leg that was wounded by some sharp object.

A few paramedics carried Nan Fengyan onto the ambulance. Rui Li looked at the blood in her hand and tried her best to remain calm. She got in the ambulance too.

“There’s a possibility that his leg would be amputated if he had injured his bones!” The doctor said as he administered basic first aid to Nan Fengyan’s injury.

“Please do your best to save him!” Rui Li’s face went pale. However, she still picked up her phone to call Mo Beichen, asking for his help to make arrangements with the hospital.

Nan Fengyan was rushed into the operation theater, however, he was still unconscious.

By the time Mo Beichen and Xia Weilan reached the hospital, Rui Li was sitting alone on the bench outside the emergency room, looking emotionless, as if something had drawn her soul.

Mo Beichen’s heart skipped a beat. The Rui Li that he knew was always calm and collected. She had been through a lot of hardships. But now, judging from the way how Rui Li reacted, Nan Fengyan must have been seriously injured.

Xia Weilan held Rui Li’s hand tightly. She comforted her, “It’s going to be alright.”

How will he be alright?

Rui Li saw with her own eyes how Nan Fengyan’s leg bleed heavily.

Suddenly, the door of the operation theater opened. A doctor walked out with cold sweats over his face. However, he let out a sigh of relief.

“It’s okay now. He suffered some superficial injury on his leg and a slight concussion. It’ll take him a month to recover.”

Rui Li suddenly felt as if someone drew all energy from her body and almost collapsed on the floor. She finally relaxed a little and came back to her senses. She held onto Xia Weilan tightly as she said, “I thought that he’ll be spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair!”

In the ward, Nan Fengyan was laying down on the bed, sleeping peacefully. Rui Li blamed herself as she said to Mo Beichen, “It’s all my fault. I knew that he was following me from behind and yet I asked the driver to drive faster.”

‘Cough, cough… ‘ The sound of someone coughing came from the hospital bed. When they turned around and looked at the bed, Nan Fengyan already opened his eyes and was looking at them.

“Who said it’s your fault, it’s my… ” Before he could finish his words, he coughed again.

A sense of guilt swept past Rui Li and she quickly poured a glass of water and took it to him. She let him lean on her body for support as she helped him sit up.

Nan Fengyan never thought that he would be able to get so close to Rui Li. A gleam of light flashed across his eyes and he said casually, “It’s because there’s some problem with the car. The brake is not working.”

Nan Fengyan looked at Mo Beichen with a sad face, “Mo-ge, your car is lousy. How come the brake doesn’t work?”

The effect of the anesthetic administered to Nan Fengyan hadn’t gone away yet. He hasn’t felt the pain yet and could still complain to Mo Beichen in a rather relaxed face.

Mo Beichen thought that Nan Fengyan said this in order to make Rui Li feel better. He replied coldly, “You’ve lost your mind! You’re always speeding. When will you start to grow some senses?“

“I’m innocent!“ Nan Fengyan leaned against Rui Li and it felt very comfortable. He fought back,” It’s true! The brake really malfunctioned. I must be going through some rotten luck recently!”

“That’s impossible. I’ve recently inspected my car!” Mo Beichen refused to buy what he said.

Nan Fengyan felt his head throbbing in pain now. He hugged his head and said furiously, “It’s true. Why don’t you get someone to check on the car to confirm if the brake is really broken.“

Mo Beichen squinted slightly with a cold face.

“Hubby, I don’t think Nan Fengyan is joking. I think it’s better to get someone to check it.” Xia Weilan had some bad feelings about this and she tugged Mo Beichen’s sleeve.

The atmosphere in the ward became heavy. Everyone had some doubts in their mind. How could a car suddenly break down? If that’s really the case, they would rather believe that someone is behind this.

Mo Beichen walked to the corridor and made a call with a serious expression. He instructed the receiver of the call to check on the car.

“Mo-ge, you must help me to investigate this properly. I don’t want the person who harmed me to be living freely without legal punishment!“ Nan Fengyan said earnestly to Mo Beichen.

When Mo Beichen and Xia Weilan are leaving, Rui Li sends both of them to the lift.

“You can talk to me if there’s anything you need.” Mo Beichen told Rui Li.

“Most of it is settled already.” Rui Li replied calmly

After all, her family only owned a few supermarkets.
