Yun Xian spent nearly half a year renovating the abandoned factory. ꜱᴜᴘᴘᴏʀᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴛʀᴀɴꜱʟᴀᴛᴏʀ ᴀɴᴅ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴏɴ ꜰᴏxᴀʜᴏʟɪᴄ.ᴄᴏᴍ
Throughout the second half of the year, his energy was spent on Cloudside and coffee. He was occasionally dragged by Li Zhicheng to take a short trip to the surrounding cities and towns.
This was not the kind of life he really wanted, but at least there was hope and new things to look forward to every day.
He looked up and could see the light. It was no longer a gray mist.
Li Zhicheng helped Yun Xian a lot with the café. One week before the opening, Yun Xian hired two shop assistants.
The waitress’s name was Zhao Xinrou, an elegant and quiet female college student.
The process for hiring a patisserie was more interesting.
That day Yun Xian had a meeting with someone at three in the afternoon. At two fifty, a Little Crewcut pushed the door in.
He was wearing a black graphic tank and cargo pants. He had a pair of black military boots on, and a motorcycle helmet in his arm.
Little Crewcut had rough features, and walked aggressively. He was not someone to provoke based on first impressions. Anyone who didn’t know would think that he came to smash the shop and make trouble.
Yun Xian was about to open his mouth when he saw the other person had looked at him with a huge grin. He revealed a row of white teeth and didn’t look fierce. Instead, he looked a little silly.
Little Crewcut waved his hand and called out, “Hello, brother!“
Yun Xian was surprised for a moment, and nodded to him after he gathered himself. “Hello.” He looked down at his cell phone and confirmed, “Are you Su Cheng?”
“Hey, it’s me!” Little Crewcut’s voice was loud. He took two boxes out from his backpack and said, “I just made it. Try it!”
Su Cheng made the popular tin cake1. One flavor was cheesecake and the other was matcha.
Yun Xian looked at how it looked and gave him a score of eighty. He took the spoon and took a scoop into his mouth under Su Cheng’s highly anticipating eyes.
Yun Xian did not have a deep understanding of desserts, and his only criteria for judging them was whether they were delicious or not.
The cheese flavor was rich, the cake was dense. It was sweet on the first bite, but not sickening.
Yun Xian nodded and commented, “Not bad.”
Su Cheng asked, “Do you want to hire me?” ꜱᴜᴘᴘᴏʀᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴛʀᴀɴꜱʟᴀᴛᴏʀ ᴀɴᴅ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴏɴ ꜰᴏxᴀʜᴏʟɪᴄ.ᴄᴏᴍ
Yun Xian didn’t expect him to be so direct. Originally, he was planning on asking two more questions. At the end, he was going to put on airs to ask the person to go home and wait for a notification. But now it seemed unnecessary.
He smiled and nodded. “Yeah, I want you.”
On March 1, Cloudside Café officially opened.
They had no promotional activities and no advertising.
However, the young workers who commuted nearby gradually found out that the shabby small factory building on the ground floor had warm yellow lights on.
Within a week, discussions about the owner of the new café downstairs appeared frequently in Wechat groups.
Li Zhicheng told Yun Xian about this, but he didn’t worry about it. It didn’t matter whether the customers came to see him or drink coffee. As long as Cloudside’s business was getting better and better, he was happy.
Yun Xian was not always in the café, so running into him was based on luck. Most of the people he saw only dared to look from far away.
Those who had the courage to ask for his Wechat would end up being rejected with a gentle smile.
Life gradually settled down. Yun Xian liked Xi City, but he didn’t think of this place as home.
Even if he had Cloudside, when he was tired of this place, he would pack up his bags and leave.
He was like a lonely boat, floating in foreign seas and had no home in his heart.
When Yun Xian was about to get used to living alone like this, romance suddenly arrived.
It was a rainy day and the night was wet. ꜱᴜᴘᴘᴏʀᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴛʀᴀɴꜱʟᴀᴛᴏʀ ᴀɴᴅ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴏɴ ꜰᴏxᴀʜᴏʟɪᴄ.ᴄᴏᴍ
On that day, the light in the room was a faint yellow. An emotional love song was being played, and the aroma of coffee was lingering in the air. During the late hours of the day, Cloudside was like a secret garden that Yun Xian had built for himself.
“There are alway some surprising encounters in life. For example, when I met you.”2
He didn’t expect anyone to rush in.
And gently take over his heart.
Before meeting Jiang Ying, Yun Xian didn’t believe in love at first sight.
He couldn’t remember the last time his heart was beating so fast. He was already 30 years old, and love was not essential for him.
But now he was just like a young boy who had been caught in emotional tides.
Yun Xian began to wait for notifications on his phone when he was bored. He was waiting for Jiang Ying to send him a message and ask him if there was any cheesecake in the café.
If Jiang Ying was smarter, his feelings would have been exposed a long time ago.
Cheesecake was the best selling item in the café. But whenever Jiang Ying asked for it, Yun Xian would always say, “There’s one slice left.”
She didn’t notice his partial treatment towards her.
She also didn’t realize that every time Yun Xian made an exception, forgot his manners, and went beyond the rules was because of her.
