In the past two years, the Xi City government had been paying attention to the development of emerging industries and designated a new science park in the south of the city as a key development area. Many young entrepreneurs regarded this as the starting point for pursuing their dreams.

After getting out of the car, Li Zhicheng pointed to the building in front of him and introduced it to Yun Xian. “I chose this place in the end. It used to be a factory and became a wasted space after it closed down. Now the main building has been transformed into an office building. My studio is on the top. We have a law firm on the first floor. Then there is a social media business and several cultural and creative companies on the floor below us.”

Yun Xian nodded and followed Li Zhicheng upstairs. ꜱᴜᴘᴘᴏʀᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴛʀᴀɴꜱʟᴀᴛᴏʀ ᴀɴᴅ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴏɴ ꜰᴏxᴀʜᴏʟɪᴄ.ᴄᴏᴍ

It was break time, and people in the office were basically sleeping on their desks.

This was different from the place where Yun Xian used to work. His work environment was serious and boring. People around him always did their own work with their heads down. There were no other things on their desks except documents and office supplies.

In front of him, there was a poster of a manga on the wall. Looking around, everyone’s desks had a different style. Some had a storage rack for snacks, and some had a row of figurines on the computer.

He even saw a pet cage in which two hamsters were curled up and lying on the wood shavings. They were like two soft glutinous white dumplings.

During this quiet afternoon, they slept together lazily.

Yun Xian glanced around and smiled.

It should be interesting to work here. The air was filled with the smell of snacks.

Li Zhicheng went into the office to get the documents. Yun Xian stood outside waiting for him. He was afraid of disturbing everyone.

All of a sudden, the girl on the desk in front of him shivered a little. It was a common reaction when someone was dreaming.

This shiver did not scare Yun Xian, but it did for the girl herself.

She woke up abruptly and straightened up from the table. She stared ahead in confusion. Her eyes gradually moved and froze on Yun Xian’s face.

This was a drowsy daze. There was a red mark on his face. Her expression was sluggish, and her mind did not react to anything.

Yun Xian looked back at her and didn’t move. He thought it was funny and he couldn’t stop himself from smiling.

The girl looked at him for a few seconds. She scratched her neck and fell down to the table again. She adjusted her posture and continued to sleep.

Yun Xian looked down at her. Her work ID was under her arm. He could only see a name.

“Jiang Ying,” he silently mouthed.

It’s a very nice name.

Yun Xian raised his hand and lifted the blanket that had slipped from the girl’s shoulder.

When they walked out of the studio and went downstairs, Yun Xian sighed and said to Li Zhicheng, “I am really jealous of you.”

Li Zhicheng asked him, “What are you jealous of me?”

Dedicated career, team with similar interests, and meaningful life.

And most importantly: a clear future.

Yun Xian smiled and only said, “I am jealous of you for being the boss.”

Li Zhicheng made a tsk sound and grabbed Yun Xian into a headlock. “Then come and work with me. I’ll make you equal to me.”

Yun Xian hit him in the stomach with his elbow. “Why don’t you say you want to financially support me?”

Li Zhicheng dodge. Then, he grinned. “Hey, Yun Xian, you have never been in love. Are you secretly in love with me?”

Yun Xian coldly snorted, as if he had heard some absurd joke. “Li Zhicheng, excessive lying is a sickness.”

They left the office building noisily. On the way to the car, Yun Xian caught a glimpse of a building. After scanning it, he stopped. He turned around and pointed to the factory and asked Li Zhicheng, “Is this rented out yet?”

Li Zhicheng followed his eyes and said, “Hm, not yet.” ꜱᴜᴘᴘᴏʀᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴛʀᴀɴꜱʟᴀᴛᴏʀ ᴀɴᴅ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴏɴ ꜰᴏxᴀʜᴏʟɪᴄ.ᴄᴏᴍ

The main building had been renovated, but the surrounding factories were still abandoned. Last year, Li Zhicheng brought him to the park. At that time, Yun Xian said that these small factories were suitable for opening stores.

This building was about two stories high. Behind it was a vacant land with two trees. During autumn, the leaves had fallen, and the branches were bare. The type of tree couldn’t be identified. Maybe it was a pear tree or a peach tree. Next to the factory was the office building, and it was very close to the west gate. It was only a few steps away from the street and the location was very good.

For a company, the traffic on the street was too noisy and not suitable for the area. It would be good to open a shop, such as a café, a bookstore, or a small restaurant.

Back then, an idea just flashed through Yun Xian’s mind.

After a year, he passed by the area again and saw that it was still desolate and dilapidated.

A thought like a cluster of flames ignited in Yun Xian’s heart.

The fire was getting bigger, and the flames lighted up around the surrounding gray area.

“Zhicheng, what do you think about if a café opened here?”

Li Zhicheng replied with his first thoughts, “It’ll be very good. What’s the matter? Are you going to open one?”

“Yes, I am.”

Yun Xian’s tone was firm and serious, which concealed his growing excitement.

Li Zhicheng thought he had heard it wrong. “Huh?”

Yun Xian’s skin was usually white, but perhaps it was the alcohol’s effect or the bright afternoon sun that caused his cheeks to be scarlet. His eyes were full of smiles, and they seemed to be shining on this sunny day with white clouds. “I said, I want to open a café here.”

He had not smiled like this for a long time. But it might be because he was acting like this that he started to look forward to the future.

“It’s name will be Cloudside.”
