After graduating from school, Huang Yi's books such as "The Story of Seeking Qin" and "The Legend of the Twin Dragons of the Tang Dynasty" finally sparked a whirlwind and began appearing in various rental bookstores.
As someone who was first exposed to time-travel literature and this new style of martial arts novels, I naturally fell into the ocean of novels without any doubt.
I remember very clearly that in the first month of my job, I didn't have enough money for a deposit, so I borrowed a few dozen yuan from a newly acquainted colleague to be able to timely secure the rental rights to the first volume of "The Story of Seeking Qin" from the many book renters.
Because there were so many people borrowing at the time, often after finishing the first part of the novel, by the time I went to return it, the second part had already been borrowed and not returned, so I had to tough it out and borrow the third part to read first.
Even though the plot had significant jumps at the time, I still found it very engaging. Of course, when the second part was returned, I naturally had to borrow it to catch up on the previous plot.
A few years later, with the popularization of computers, online novels, this new form of literature, finally began to appear.
At the time, various online novels sprang up like bamboo shoots after the rain on major reading websites, and the variety was so great that I felt enveloped in happiness every day.
Hehe, back then, reading online novels wasn't as picky as it is now; almost any random search could find works that captivated me.
However, my first idea to write a novel myself came not long after I resigned from my job, and it was precisely because of the book "The Legend of the Mortal Cultivator."
At the time, I only outlined a framework and wrote a few chapters, but I didn't continue for long and soon got busy with other things.
However, the concept of the mortal gradually accumulated and improved over the next few years.
In February 2008, I finally registered an author account on起点 (Qidian) and created a work with the rather rustic-sounding name "The Legend of the Mortal Cultivator," uploading the two chapters I had written a few years earlier. However, due to some sudden events at home, I didn't continue uploading chapters.
In March, after a quarrel, I finally decided to become a web writer and agonized for several days over choosing between Western fantasy and immortal cultivation, ultimately opting for the latter, which was very unpopular on the website at the time.
At the time, I thought it was simple: since there were no major figures in the immortal cultivation genre, as a newcomer, I should still have a chance to stand out.
Because the first two chapters of "The Legend of the Mortal Cultivator" were already published on Qidian, I didn't consider starting over and instead continued writing from those chapters, beginning my true writing career.
Hehe, as for the subsequent publication of "The Legend of the Mortal Cultivator" and the various events that followed, that's another story.
If there's an opportunity in the future, I'll write it down for everyone to see.
