The room was silent for a while. Only You Xi and Jiang Jiang remained.
You Xi sat down on his bed, facing Jiang Jiang.
“Why did you let him go?” Jiang Jiang’s body halfway merged with the dark night, and asked quietly, “You know everything… you’re protecting against me. Are you afraid that I’ll get into trouble when you deal with Dr. Liu?”
You Xi was ashamed. Were there people who could do something so shameless? Weren’t all bosses righteous? Worrying about being stabbed in the back, that really is… How could he do that, ah? 1
Seeing You Xi not speaking, Jiang Jiang fortunately removed his disguise and asked, “When did you suspect me?”
To be honest, he only suspected it just now.
But bosses, of course, have to be the most powerful.
You Xi traced the roots and looked back in his memories. He pointed out where Jiang Jiang had first exposed his feet: “When you said that you only found Dr. Liu’s body early that morning.”
Jiang Jiang’s forehead violently swelled with blue veins: “…So you’ve been watching me act. Good, very good.”
He took a deep breath, but his tone did nothing to hide his anger. “Why did you doubt me at that time? Apart from me, Xiao Lu was the only one who sleeps deeply at night. Everyone knows that most people don’t wake up at midnight.”
“Oh. Xiao Lu is an important person who succeeded at completing the mission.” You Xi rarely participated in the group discussions and often missed information. He didn’t know that Xiao Lu slept deeply at night. If it weren’t for Jiang Jiang bringing it up, You Xi would be completely in the dark.
He was just pretending in front of others. His sleep quality was very good. He was awakened by this broken game, so he felt suspicious about Jiang Jiang. Now that it was determined that Jiang Jiang, who pretended to be asleep, was the boss, Xiao Lu, who really was asleep, was definitely more unusual.
You Xi was overjoyed that he was told such important news. Boss, thank you!
“Why did you make that judgement? I’m the boss and Xiao Lu is an important person for successful mission completion!” Jiang Jiang wasn’t convinced. “This isn’t fair!”
“Because ghost eaters make a lot of noise, people who really fall asleep would definitely wake up.” You Xi couldn’t stand it anymore. His speech gradually became stupid. As a boss, Jiang Jiang had perfect acting skills, but his IQ was quite sad, ah. “And the follow-up was full of loopholes. If you want to create the illusion that a ghost cast a spell on you and made you fall asleep, then you should continue using that plan. Why did you sleep like a dead pig yesterday, but become lively when you heard something tonight?”
Jiang Jiang was like a chicken caught around the neck and choked.
“My skill isn’t as good as a human’s. Unbelievable.” Jiang Jiang’s blood-red bangs covered one of his eyes, his tone was sullen, and his whole body released a terrible hellish sigh. “So now… are you going to expose me?”
“No.” You Xi hurriedly denied – where would he get the courage to expose the boss?
“Didn’t you dismiss Dr. Liu to deal with me?” Jiang Jiang was somewhat incredulous, but his gloomy tone was filled with surprise that was hard to ignore.
“I’m a pacifist.” You Xi painted his own face with gold. 2 “So I don’t like to use force to easily solve problems.”
“Even if I continue to fan the flames and let the players kill each other, you won’t intervene?” Jiang Jiang may not have noticed but his hair turned pink again.
You Xi tossed a piece of candy to Jiang Jiang and took a bite of his own cookies. “Don’t do anything to Gu Mian or Xiao Lu. I don’t care about the others.”
“I didn’t intend to do anything to Xiao Lu.” Jiang Jiang unwrapped the white rabbit toffee and chewed and chewed. “But I can only guarantee that my aunt and I won’t specifically target them. If those two are fucked over by the other players then it’s none of my business if they die.”
Jiang Jiang was acting innocent, but You Xi didn’t believe him anymore. Thinking carefully, the windows had opened, and it must have been Jiang Jiang. Had he not reacted quickly, he would have become a corpse long ago.
This little bitch fouled.
You Xi ate his cookies and planned to move again tomorrow to sleep with Gu Mian or Xiao Lu for one night. He wanted to stay away from Jiang Jiang.
Jiang Jiang mentioned that he had an aunt, and You Xi guessed that she was the female ghost who served him afternoon tea everyday.
Thinking that the ghost auntie liked to sleep in coffins at at night and hadn’t hurt anyone yet, You Xi made a bold inference.
If he wasn’t wrong, he should be able to successfully pass the level soon.
As he thought, You Xi suddenly heard a child’s cry from a distant room.
His motions while eating cookies suddenly–
Xiao Lu!
Heedless of the danger lurking in the halls of the villa late at night, You Xi opened the Wednesday door and ran toward where he heard the cry. When he ran into the young girl who was stumbling and escaping with Xiao Lu, You Xi didn’t have time to talk to her.
He rushed into the room with the wide open door, his pupils dilated.
Inside, Xiao Lu was crying and being guarded by Gu Mian, who lived next door. He was the first to hear motion from the room, so he arrived first. His arm was twisted and broken by Dr. Liu. If You Xi arrived even one second later, Gu Mian’s arm may have been directly torn off.
Without hesitating, You Xi no longer cared about pretending to be a boss and decisively tossed a thunderbolt at Dr. Liu. The thunderbolt instantly exploded Dr. Liu’s hand into a bloody mass of flesh. Gu Mian escaped, holding Xiao Lu and rolling to the side, only a shot a way from Dr. Liu but temporarily out of danger.
But it wasn’t enough. Just relying on that little attack wasn’t enough to beat Dr. Liu.
You Xi was anxious. The injured Dr. Liu howled in pain and was about to run away, but when he saw that the opponent attacking him was You Xi, he suddenly stopped.
Their eyes met, and the scene was very embarrassing.
After a second of inactivity, Dr. Liu fled by jumping out the window.
You Xi’s tense nerves finally relaxed. He shut the door and handed Gu Mian, who was almost killed by Dr. Liu, a healing medicine. The windows in the room were broken, so it made no difference whether or not they were locked.
You Xi sighed imperceptibly. He suffered a heavy loss tonight. He lost an invisibility talisman, a thunderbolt talisman, and a healing medicine. At that speed, he would even continue and lose his family. At the end of the seven days, could he really exit the midnight villa instance alive?
You Xi secretly made up his mind to not delay any longer. He needed to make a quick decision!
Gu Mian, who had taken the healing medicine, had a high fever and fell unconscious. Fortunately, the medicine had amazing effects and the wounds on his body healed at a speed visible to the naked eye.
You Xi couldn’t help but worry as he watched. Those cheat props from the gift were either low-power of had side effects. One day if he was heavily injured and needed treatment, he would need to be vigilant and find a safe place to take the medicine. Otherwise, he would be very wronged and cheated by others when he was healing at his weakest.
Xiao Lu stood guard at Gu Mian’s side, tears still dripping in the corners of his eyes.
The little boy was very well behaved since he first came to the game. Except for being a bit greedy and wanting to eat snacks, he didn’t act like a bear child. 3 It’s really hard to be so sensible at his age.
“Don’t be afraid, Gu Mian won’t die.” You Xi took out the last individually wrapped QQ bear candy and handed it to Xiao Lu. “Tell me, what happened just now?”
Xiao Lu held the QQ candy tightly with a pale face: “I only woke up after hearing Ren-jiejie’s scream. When I woke up, I saw the dead doctor breaking our window.”
“Ren-jiejie put the mop against the window as fast as she could, but it didn’t help. The doctor got in anyway.” Xiao Lu recalled. “I was scared. All I could do was cry. Ren-jiejie opened the door and escaped, but the doctor caught me. When I was about to die, Gu-gege hurried in and saved me from the doctor.”
You Xi: “Ayo, your language and vocabulary are very good right now.”
“I just learned it in kindergarten the other day.” Xiao Lu pursed his lips and smiled shyly.
You Xi didn’t dare to sleep in the middle of the night. He stayed beside Xiao Lu and Gu Mian. He vaguely seemed to hear a woman’s cry, but You Xi didn’t have time to handle it.
Early the next morning, Gu Mian finally awoke from his coma.
You Xi’s eyes were very droopy when he called for Xiao Lu to wake up so they could eat together, and then things backfired. On that third morning, the game gradually revealed its hideous face, and certain things started to come into play–
There was only warm bloody soup and bloody raw meat on the table.
The service staff cheerfully spoke to everyone: “The torso from the corpse that died on the first day has been enthusiastically sent to our guests by the kitchen. Our guests are very blessed. We invite you to taste delicious human flesh this morning.”
The smile on the service staff’s faces were creepy. No one dared to say anything. When You Xi brought Gu Mian and Xiao Lu downstairs, they began to tearfully complain.
“Sir, you have to bring us justice!” Said a skinny, stick-like university student.
Bring them justice.
You Xi was very unhappy: “You’re all adults. Do I need to worry about what you eat?”
He was pretending to be a boss, not pretending to be a club leader. Would he handle whatever they pointed at? If he could handle it, then forget it. The problem was that he couldn’t handle it.
“Who was on the third floor yesterday?” At that point, in order to prevent the others from speaking badly about him behind his back, he took the opportunity to attack. “Stand yourselves up.”
But no one did anything.
“You found a clue yourself and hid it. Every time you encounter a problem, you want me to help.” You Xi said. “Some of you aren’t behaving well. If you want to eat a normal meal, catch the ghost among us and bring it to me. Otherwise, you can find a way.”
As expected, everyone turned their anger to the person who had secretly been on the third floor, but who concealed the clue and didn’t report it.
“Yesterday, I saw the old man poking his head around and staring at the third floor.” The chubby middle-aged woman hesitated. “But I didn’t think much about it at that time. It was around four o’clock in the afternoon.”
“Don’t speak nonsense!” The grey-haired old man was so agitated he was about to spit everywhere: “I was just curious when I saw Jiang Jiang and Gu Mian go upstairs. How could an old man who walks shakily be brave enough to go upstairs?”
The chubby auntie shrugged: “Then who knows?”
“How long were you watching?” You Xi asked, narrowing his eyes.
“Two minutes at most.” The old man swore. “I went back to my room in two minutes.”
The man who shared a room with the old man was the middle-aged man who was fierce toward You Xi at the beginning. You Xi suspected that after seeing where Gu Mian was, the old man returned to his room and nagged the middle-aged man to go upstairs and check for clues. He turned his eyes to the middle-aged man, who pretended to be nonchalant but didn’t dare look back at You Xi.
The pair of them couldn’t wait to tell everyone ‘I’m a thief, come and catch me.’ You Xi was speechless.
You Xi was just taking the opportunity to cause trouble. He didn’t really want to find the person who hid the clue right away. He was kidding. Now that they’re caught, doesn’t that mean that he has to ask those giant babies for food from the brutal NPCs?
He didn’t want to.
