Chapter 48

The Soviets came so quickly! When Muhammad saw Soviet soldiers rushing from another alley, he knew it would be extremely difficult to get out unscathed.

He had to distract these Soviets!

Without a second thought, Muhammad pulled the trigger, and two of the leading Soviet soldiers immediately fell with cries of pain.

“Bang, bang.” Muhammad fired two more shots and retreated in another direction. When the few guerrillas in front turned around, they saw Muhammad's determined gesture, ordering them to continue retreating according to the original plan.

“Bang, bang.” The enemy followed, only seeing Muhammad's back. When they fired, Muhammad had already slipped into another alley.

“Chase him!” They shouted, pursuing him. The bar was almost entirely filled with Soviets. When they discovered the rocket attack, they immediately mobilized. They found the fleeing armed personnel here, who were definitely the Afghan guerrillas!

It was one thing that they couldn't suppress the guerrillas in the mountains, but to be attacked in a city! If even the big cities weren't safe, what confidence would the Soviets have to stay here?

They ran quickly, chasing after him.

The enemy had turned into the alley ahead, and the pursuing Soviet soldiers ran quickly, turning into the alley entrance.

“Clank.” A sound came from underfoot. The Soviet soldier looked down in surprise to see a grenade rolling towards him.

“Danger, take cover!” The Soviet soldier shouted, trying to lie down to the side.

“Boom!” The grenade had a very short delay and exploded almost immediately. The nearest Soviet soldiers screamed as parts of their bodies flew out.

After throwing the grenade, Muhammad continued to run. The terrain here was very disadvantageous for the pursuers. As long as he ran through a few alleys, he could completely shake them off.

Turning another corner, Muhammad ran a few steps and suddenly stopped.

It was a dead end!

The footsteps behind were getting closer. Muhammad had no time. He took a few steps back, then ran quickly towards the wall. Just as he was about to collide with it, he kicked the wall with his right foot, leaped, and grabbed the top of the wall. With another push, his body skillfully flipped over the wall, and his legs landed on the ground.

“Lieutenant Muhammad, it’s good to see you.” A voice came from behind.

Muhammad slowly turned his head and saw a tall, curvaceous woman standing beside him. She held a pistol, the barrel pointing at Muhammad's head.

Her nose was high, and every feature was exquisitely delicate. Her hair, like a waterfall, framed her face, making it even more alluring.

“Aisha.” Muhammad said, “It’s good to see you too. I searched for days when you got lost in the mountains. I thought you were dead. I’ve been dreaming of you every night. Put the gun away, the Soviets are coming.”

As he spoke, Muhammad reached out to grab Aisha’s gun, moving so fast that Aisha couldn’t react.

This KGB spy! Last time, they had surrounded a Soviet squad and shot down two helicopters, achieving a good result, but Muhammad still had regrets—letting this woman escape.

Now that they met again, Muhammad had to eliminate her. The words he just said were just to麻痹 her. While talking, he prepared to counterattack.

“Bang.” Suddenly, a sound reached Muhammad’s ears, and his arm shook violently, blood gushing out.

Sniper at three o'clock! Muhammad knew he couldn’t escape.

A group of Soviet soldiers surrounded the area, and Muhammad was tied up and taken away.

He never thought this day would come. Muhammad couldn’t help but laugh bitterly. To die for a noble cause, to sacrifice oneself for justice, and to face death with dignity?

Muhammad didn’t plan to do that.

“Speak, tell us everything you know, or I have many ways to deal with you!” In a dimly lit interrogation room, Muhammad was tied to an iron chair, his hands and feet chained, making escape impossible.

Moreover, Muhammad could feel two electrodes under his buttocks. As soon as the interrogator pressed the button, his body would convulse from the electric shock.

Aisha sat in front, smiling, seemingly interested in this game.

“I am Pakistani,” Muhammad said. “I joined the Afghan guerrillas and now command an excellent guerrilla unit of over fifty people.”

Aisha had already placed her hand on the button for the electric shock, but Muhammad’s straightforward answer surprised her.

Thinking about it, Aisha realized that Muhammad was only confessing what she already knew. Since he couldn’t deny it, he might as well admit it.

Thinking this, Aisha’s face turned angry. “Muhammad, that’s not what I want to know!”

“What then? Is it the mole on your buttock?” Muhammad said. “Or the asymmetry of your breasts? Actually, I prefer asymmetry; it’s more beautiful.”

“Muhammad!” Aisha walked to Muhammad’s side and dug her hand into his injured arm, blood gushing out.

Muhammad’s face turned pale, but he still mocked, “Aisha, use more force, it feels better.”

“I’ll stab you a few more times, and you’ll feel even better!” Aisha finally lost her temper, pulling out a triangular dagger and aiming it at Muhammad’s arm.

“Eva, you’ll kill him.” Another Soviet officer, a young and cold-blooded man, spoke up.

As a Soviet swallow, their body was their best weapon. After training from a young age, they had no sense of shame, but the presence of other men made them feel angry.

The prisoner was cooperating, at least they should hear what he had to say. The triangular dagger was not for interrogation but for killing. Once a hole was made, it was hard to save the person.

Aisha threw the dagger aside and sat back down.

“Speak, what else do you know?” the Soviet officer asked.

“Exercise Western-81 will take place in three days. It’s the largest military exercise by the Soviet Union, involving the Kiev-class aircraft carrier and the RSD-10 intermediate-range ballistic missile. This exercise is to showcase Soviet military strength to the West and to intimidate Poland. The Soviet Union will conduct amphibious landing exercises near Gdansk, and this exercise could turn into a real intervention in Polish sovereignty at any time. The code name is Babushka.” Muhammad said.

The secrets of the guerrillas could not be revealed further. The secrets he had just mentioned were already known. Now, Muhammad casually mentioned the Soviet military exercise.

Muhammad’s crimes were so severe that he deserved to be executed multiple times. Hundreds of Soviets had died at his hands, and in the recent rocket attack, nearly a hundred Soviets in the bar were killed.

To survive, Muhammad had to find another way, such as delaying the Soviets for now.

So, Muhammad revealed this secret.

In the future, this was no longer a secret. When the Soviet Union collapsed, many secrets were revealed, including this military exercise.

The Soviet model of collective economy had a significant negative impact on productivity, and the focus on heavy industry led to a decline in living standards. Poland, as a republic, was the most vocal in opposition, with several bloody conflicts. Last year, a nationwide strike occurred in Poland, and this year, Poland declared a state of war.

The unrest in Poland greatly displeased the Soviet big brother. Moscow was prepared, and NATO already knew about the military exercise, but the plan to invade Poland, code-named Babushka, was highly confidential.

Now, Muhammad casually revealed it. The Soviet officer opposite was clearly shocked. He stood up and asked, “How do you know this?”

He only knew there was a plan but didn’t know its name or the details. His intuition told him that the Pakistani man in front of him knew more.

“CIA has planted spies in Moscow,” Muhammad said. “The Americans have known about this plan for a long time. This time, I was with the Americans, so I naturally knew.”

Muhammad’s association with James was known to Aisha. Muhammad spoke confidently and calmly.

“What else do you know?”

“Many, many things,” Muhammad said. “Just let me live, and I’ll tell you everything slowly.”

“Take him away first,” the Soviet officer said. This was important, and he needed to report to his superiors to verify if the Pakistani man was lying.

Muhammad glanced at Aisha mockingly as he was taken away. Passing by her, he said, “Do you know why I didn’t touch you? You’re just a public toilet.”

Aisha’s eyes widened, and she clenched her fists, wishing she could execute Muhammad immediately.

Muhammad laughed loudly as he was escorted back to his cell by two Soviet soldiers.

The Afghan prison was overcrowded. When Muhammad was pushed into the cell, he saw someone else sitting inside, and he was stunned.
