”Why do you care who I marry?”

Inside the main building’s large study of the Luo residence, Luo Zhan leaned back against the sofa’s soft leather backrest with his long legs crossed, coldly quirking the corner of his mouth, his eyes mocking.

The Old Master sitting upright in front of him wrinkled his eyebrows, itching to pinch this unworthy grandson to death with the folds of his forehead, “I’m your grandpa, don’t you think I should care about you?”

Luo Zhan: “Grandfather’s rights shouldn’t be used like this.”

The old man frowned, “Then how do you want to use it?”

Luo Zhan pulled the corners of his mouth, smiling lazily and coolly, “If you’re truly satisfied, go marry that Tang something Qian person yourself. I will definitely call her grandma—that’s your right.”

”……”

The Old Master almost fainted with anger.

It was only when the old butler of the Luo family knocked on the door and leaned down to old master Luo’s ear, telling him about something, that he looked slightly more relaxed.

”I bought something from abroad,” Once the butler left, the old man raised his eyelids and told this youngest and death-inducing grandson, “I’ll send someone to your laboratory afterwards, so you can study how to use it and test it for any defects or safety hazards.”

Luo Zhan had already stood up in preparation to leave. Hearing the words, lazily glanced sideways, “What is it?”

”A smart human-like bionic robot.”

This happened to match with the laboratory’s next focus. Luo Zhan became interested, “Haven’t you always been unsupportive of me engaging in AI?”

”Don’t think too much, it’s not for you.” The Old Master shot him a quick glance, eyes containing some unconcealed emotions, “The Tang family…. has a young daughter, who is also almost 16 years old this year. This is a birthday gift I prepared for her.”

”……”

Once he heard Tang family, the little interest Luo Zhan had immediately cooled down.

The old master hesitantly moved his eyes, “In the future, when you and Tang Luoqian are engaged, you should also take care of this little sister, she—”

”What, you have your eye on their family’s young daughter?” Luo Zhan smiled coolly, “Two for the price of one? It’s not enough to stuff me a Tang whatever Qian, you also want to give me another little girl? Sorry, grandpa, I can’t afford it.”

The Old Master was so angry that his eyebrows twisted, “Do you hear the disgraceful words you’re saying?!”

”……”

Luo Zhan held back his smile, turning to walk out.

”In any case, I won’t marry anyone from the Tang family even if I die—you should give up as soon as possible.”

”!”

Ignoring the sound of his grandfather knocking his cane in anger in the study behind him, Luo Zhan lazily stuck his hand into his pants pocket and walked downstairs.

Today was the Luo family’s Old Master’s birthday banquet. There were who knows how many upper-class people trying to squeeze into the private estate of the Luo family. It was a pity that there were only a small minority that received the invitation. The thin cardstock had become the latest standard of distinguishing who was of importance in the upper-class circle.

Among the guests were several of the younger generation who came with their elders to wish the Old Master congratulations. A small number of them were people of the same age who had interacted with Luo Zhan since childhood.

Luo Zhan had just come down to the second floor balcony when he was intercepted by people who were watching at the staircase.

”Young Master Luo is unloyal. Been back home for so long and didn’t even go downstairs—what, contributing to the motherland’s scientific research for so long that his status is different, throwing us, this group of bastards, to the back of his mind?”

Luo Zhan was pulled over and sat down, the corners of his mouth tugging at the words as he flippantly and lazily smiled, “En. You know yourself very well.”

The man himself was also laughing, “Hey, serves me right to have this cheap mouth, scolding myself.”

The person beside him jokingly scolded, “It’s fine if you’re cursing yourself, why bring us into this?”

”Exactly.”

”But he had a good point—young master Luo came back this time, isn’t it different from before?”

”……”

When people heard this, their attention was pulled over, and even Luo Zhan raised his eyes lazily in that direction.

That person smugly said, “I heard that Young Master Luo is going to get engaged to that beautiful young lady from the Tang family. Before coming here, my elders said that it is estimated that in a few days, they’ll be returning to the Luo residence again to attend the engagement party of these two golden couple.”

”……”

Those seated fell silent.

Some of the more quick-witted ones had faintly fixed their expressions this point, each secretly taking a glance to probe Luo Zhan’s reaction.

The young master of the Luo family sat there with lowered eyes, his thin lips hooked, the corners of his peach blossom eyes raised in a smiling but not smiling way. His dark eyes revealing his icy and indifferent mood.

The man’s smile stiffened.

Several people tried to help smooth things over, “You just don’t understand, ah. Young Master Luo has a high standard—he can’t even look at the ones that don’t have a pair of beautiful eyes. The Tang family’s eldest miss is said to be quite beautiful, but unfortunately who knows how her eyes are?”

”They’re apparently not bad. All her facial features are good-looking, considered a beauty in our circle.”

”Really? Then I want to see.”

”It’s almost time,” Someone turned around, “Hey, Luo Zhan, you’re leaving now? Where are you going?”

”To sleep.”

”Hey, why on earth are you sleeping at this time—don’t you want to see what the Tang family’s eldest miss looks like?”

”……”

Luo Zhan stood up, cooly lowering his eyes at their words, “Not interested.”

He walked straight out.

The rest of the people knew that he had been offended, and didn’t dare to block his path and could only talk amongst themselves.

”The youngest daughter of the Tang family seems to be coming today.”

”Youngest daughter? Didn’t the Tang family have just the one eldest miss, Tang Luoqian? How come there’s a young daughter?”

”I also overheard my parents talking, saying she’s Tang Shixin’s illegitimate daughter. Called Tang something…. Tang Ran? It seems that she’s also blind.”

”—”

Luo Zhan’s body suddenly stopped.

Meng Xueyu’s emotional words from the laboratory last night flashed through his mind.

’Don’t laugh, Tang Ran is really pretty!’

Luo Zhan lightly narrowed his eyes.

A few seconds later, he turned around and walked back, picking up a rattan chair with one hand and sat back down.

The crowd went dumb.

After a long stretch of silence, someone carefully asked, “Luo Zhan, weren’t you not interested?”

”……”

Luo Zhan’s eyes were lazily lowered, his hands playing with a coin that he pulled out from an unknown place.

After staring at the coin in his palm for a few seconds, the corner of his mouth lightly hooked.

”I am now.”

A/N

Luo Zhan, the AI field’s famous double standard ✓

i’ve caved. i hate the way old man looks and sounds so i’m changing it to old master, hopefully it doesn’t look too off-putting. i’ve genuinely been struggling over this since i began translating DC.

speaking of translating, i’m considering another novel but i can’t decide how to title it so help me. should it be:

Moonlight Illuminating the Land (MIL)Moonlight Shining Across the Land (MSAL) Thousand Miles of (Bright) Moonlight (TMM/TMBM)

or offer me a better option? or a mix of these titles? pls comment your favorite/your ideas

i might be leaning towards TMBM, the acronym looks nice and it’s kinda catchy
