Chapter 003: The Rich Miss

Being a security guard is a tough job, with low pay and low social status. Wearing a security uniform and standing at the entrance, one can always feel the strange and contemptuous gazes of people entering and leaving the company.

Ye Shaofeng was used to wearing military uniforms, but now, in this security uniform, and with the disdainful looks from others, the passionate and valiant man felt somewhat out of place. He was clearly an outstanding special forces soldier who had served his country with utmost dedication, yet now he had to become a low-ranking member of society in the eyes of the world. This severely undermined the dignity that a soldier should have.

He had been working as a security guard at the Zonghai Group for two weeks. Every morning, he had to stand guard at the entrance of the building, dressed neatly. The two weeks passed without any major incidents, and his mission made no progress.

He had thought that becoming a security guard in the building would make it easy to get close to Chang Miaoke, but after two weeks of standing guard, he hadn't even seen her shadow. This left him somewhat disappointed. If things continued like this, he would have to consider other plans.

It was another boring day. Ye Shaofeng had stayed up late the night before, drinking and chatting with a group of security guards, so he was still drowsy while standing guard at the entrance, his eyelids heavy, looking completely sleep-deprived.

The two weeks as a security guard had been very boring. Cheap erguotou liquor and low-quality cigarettes became his only entertainment, and he would chat and joke with Peng Xiaofei and the other security guards in the dormitory.

Just as Ye Shaofeng was listlessly watching the various people entering and leaving the building, a black Range Rover suddenly roared into the company courtyard, raising a cloud of dust.

The Range Rover did not park in the rear parking lot but stopped at the entrance of the building. The car door opened, and a balding man in a suit and gold-rimmed glasses got out confidently, under the watchful eyes of the crowd.

A mix of complex gazes converged on this man—envy, jealousy, and even hatred. Ye Shaofeng watched him coldly. He knew this man was Ma Teng.

Ma Teng was the department manager of the sales department at Zonghai Group. He had achieved the best sales performance in the company's history this quarter, so the chairman rewarded him with a Range Rover worth over 1.5 million yuan.

He had picked up the car yesterday and brought it to the company today to show off, with the air of a nouveau riche flaunting his wealth.

Ma Teng waved at Ye Shaofeng and ordered, "Hey, security guard, come here! Come quickly!"

Ye Shaofeng walked over, standing straight and tall, a head taller than Ma Teng.

Ma Teng looked up at Ye Shaofeng and said, "Go, get a basin of water, and clean my car."

Ye Shaofeng was taken aback. What did he mean? Was he asking him to clean the car? Was this guy crazy? Why not go to a car wash? To have a security guard clean the car at the company entrance was just too pretentious!

Ma Teng looked down at the wheels and said, "Damn it, it rained all day yesterday, and today the road is full of puddles. The wheels are covered in mud. Go get a basin of water and clean the wheels first. Hurry up, what are you standing there for? Are you not going to listen to me?"

Ye Shaofeng had heard of car washing, but never of specifically cleaning the wheels. Whose wheels were clean? Asking Ye Shaofeng to clean the wheels was completely disrespectful to a security guard.

"I'm a security guard, not a car washer. Go to a car wash if you want your car cleaned. I don't care!" Ye Shaofeng said and turned to leave.

It was rush hour, and the crowd was thick. Ye Shaofeng's refusal enraged the extremely vain Ma Teng.

Ma Teng grabbed Ye Shaofeng's shoulder from behind and cursed, "F*ck, a damn security guard is putting on airs with me. You have to clean the wheels today, or else..."

Before Ma Teng could finish, Ye Shaofeng, with his strong alertness, instinctively kicked back, sending the man flying several meters. Ma Teng crashed into his Range Rover, causing the heavy vehicle to shake violently.

Ma Teng crouched on the ground, clutching his chest, feeling a lump in his throat, unable to breathe. Ye Shaofeng didn't bother to look at him and walked back to the guard booth on his own.

At that moment, a silver Audi A8 luxury car drove past the guard booth. Chang Fuguo, sitting in the back, saw what had just happened. He asked his secretary and bodyguard, "Why haven't I noticed that security guard before?"

Ah Qiang said, "Chairman, that security guard joined our company two weeks ago. He used to be a soldier and, I heard, went to the south after being discharged."

"Ah Qiang, you are an expert in martial arts. Did you see that security guard's kick just now? What do you think of his skills?" Chang Fuguo asked again.

"Chairman, from that kick alone, it's not hard to deduce that this security guard is an absolute expert. The speed and power of his move are far beyond what ordinary martial artists can achieve. Moreover, I believe he only used about 50% of his strength. If he had used 100%, our sales department manager Ma Teng would probably be dead by now," Ah Qiang analyzed.

Chang Fuguo's face lit up with joy. "Ah Qiang, go to the HR department later and get a detailed file on this security guard. I need such an expert!"

At noon, Ye Shaofeng and Peng Xiaofei went to the employee cafeteria for lunch.

The cafeteria had three floors. The first floor was the largest and had the most people, where the lowest-ranking employees ate. The second floor was for management, with much better food. The third floor was the smallest, with only a few private rooms. It was reserved for company leaders, and the food served there was of five-star hotel standards.

Ye Shaofeng held a rectangular metal lunch box and followed Peng Xiaofei closely. Although Peng Xiaofei wasn't as strong as Ye Shaofeng, he was fat and always acted aggressively, which gave him an advantage when getting food at the cafeteria window. Following him, Ye Shaofeng naturally secured a favorable position in the crowd.

He got a plate of pot-stewed tofu, which was oily and cheap. Although it was a vegetable dish, it tasted like braised pork. Mixed with rice, it was Ye Shaofeng's favorite.

Ye Shaofeng and Peng Xiaofei sat facing each other. They were indeed quite hungry and were about to start eating. But before they could even pick up their chopsticks, trouble came knocking...
