Chapter 11

On July 31, 1835, near the waters of Flying Fish Island, a fleet of more than ten pirate ships appeared, with the largest one being a formidable warship over thirty meters long and with two decks.

At the dock of Flying Fish Island, some people noticed the approaching pirate fleet and immediately sounded the alarm. After all, the appearance of such a large pirate fleet was unknown whether they were friend or foe, which made everyone very nervous.

Zhao Yi and the other leaders of Flying Fish Island also came to the dock, but everyone's faces were not looking good as they watched the approaching pirate ships!

"Father! The leading warship seems to be a foreign warship! No pirate group in the entire South China Sea has such a warship!" Zhao Xingchuan, Zhao Yi's youngest son, said. The ships pirates usually had were mostly fast ships or merchant ships modified into pirate ships. No pirate group had ever possessed a real warship.

"Get all the brothers on the island ready for battle! The elderly, women, and children, all hide in the mountains!" Zhao Yi calmly ordered. After Chen San and his group were captured last night, Zhao Yi temporarily took charge of the island's affairs, leading Flying Fish Island until Luo Yuhu grew up. Of course, this was under the assumption that the chief, Luo Sangu, had already died in battle. However, everyone hoped that Chief Luo Sangu would be safe and sound. Although the possibility was very small, everyone still harbored this hope!

The pirates on Flying Fish Island immediately sprang into action! The elderly, women, and children began to run up the mountain. The remaining elite pirates armed themselves and ambushed on the island! Flying Fish Island was their home, and if someone were to attack, they would fight to the death!

Soon, the pirate fleet approached the dock of Flying Fish Island. The pirates on the island also noticed something unusual!

"Father, something doesn't seem right! Those pirate ships seem to be our own pirate ships! Except for the largest one!" Zhao Xingkai, Zhao Yi's eldest son, said suspiciously.

"Old Zhao, could it be that Chief and the others have returned victorious!" Another leader of Flying Fish Island, Uncle Li, said.

"Xingkai, go to the dock and check! If anything is wrong, run back immediately!" Zhao Yi hesitated for a moment and then said.

"Okay, Father!" Zhao Xingkai quickly ran to the dock. When he arrived, the fleet was already very close. He clearly saw that the people on the largest warship were none other than Chief Luo Sangu!

"Father! It's Chief! Chief and the others have returned!" Zhao Xingkai excitedly shouted!

"Chief and the others have returned! That's great! I knew Chief and the others would be blessed by heaven!" Zhao Yi said with a joyful face. Initially, when Chen San and his group said that Chief Luo Sangu and the others had died in battle, he did not believe it. Now, finally, Chief Luo Sangu and the others had returned safely!

Soon, the entire Flying Fish Island erupted in cheers. The elderly, women, and children who were running up the mountain all changed direction and headed towards the dock. In less than ten minutes, the dock was already crowded with people!

"Chief! The brothers have come to welcome us!" Liu Lao Da, standing next to Luo Sangu, smiled. For them, every voyage was a matter of life and death. Although they suffered heavy losses this time, they had finally returned victorious!

"Um!" Luo Sangu nodded. The loss of so many brothers made her feel very guilty. Additionally, on the return journey, she had been considering Long Yufei's proposal. The pirate profession was becoming increasingly difficult, and if they continued, it was uncertain how long they could last. However, Long Yufei's proposal was so shocking that Luo Sangu found it hard to believe.

Long Yufei and Li Hu also came to the deck of the 'Coventry' cruiser. Looking at the cheering crowd on the dock, he felt a bit depressed. If these people knew that their relatives had died in this battle, they might not be so happy.

Soon, the 'Coventry' cruiser docked. Luo Sangu led everyone off the ship and onto the dock.

"Congratulations on your victorious return, Chief!" Zhao Yi, Uncle Li, and the other pirates who stayed on the island congratulated Luo Sangu.

"Um! It's all thanks to the brothers who fought to the death! You also worked hard staying on the island!" Luo Sangu said, but her mood was clearly not high.

"Sister! You're back, that's great!" Luo Yuhu rushed out from behind Zhao Yi, holding Luo Sangu's hand. Previously, when Chen San and his group said Luo Sangu had died in battle, he was very worried.

"Little brother! Sister is fine!" Luo Sangu lovingly patted Luo Yuhu's head and said softly. After her father's death, her brother and Flying Fish Island had become her reason for striving.

"Chief, let's go back first! We have important matters to report to you!" Zhao Yi said.

Luo Sangu nodded and led everyone away! After they left, the cheers on the dock of Flying Fish Island turned into cries and sorrow. When the bodies of the fallen pirates were carried off the ship, their families wept. This scene played out almost every time the fleet returned. Luo Sangu's mood became even more somber when she heard the cries of the people!

"Perhaps Long Yufei is right, we cannot continue to be pirates!" Luo Sangu said to herself. She had already accepted Long Yufei's proposal!

"Gentlemen, our operation this time encountered an unexpected situation! This is mainly my fault. First, the resistance of the Spanish was beyond our imagination, causing us heavy losses! Additionally, the sudden appearance of the British Navy's warship almost led us to a point of no return!" In the council hall of Flying Fish Island, Luo Sangu said to everyone.

Everyone's expressions were serious, knowing that although they had won, the losses to Flying Fish Island were not small!

Additionally, everyone looked at Long Yufei with gratitude. Without Long Yufei's strategy, Flying Fish Island might have been finished this time! If the main force led by Chief Luo Sangu had been eliminated, it would have been impossible for Flying Fish Island to survive in the perilous South China Sea!

"Mr. Long made a great contribution in this operation! Without Mr. Long, we would not have returned this time!" Luo Sangu continued. Indeed, Long Yufei had become the savior of the pirates of Flying Fish Island!

"Thank you, Mr. Long!" Everyone bowed to Long Yufei in gratitude!

"Chief, there's no need for such formalities! This is what I should do!" Long Yufei quickly said, feeling a bit at a loss with so many people showing him such respect!

"Gentlemen, I propose that Mr. Long serve as the military advisor of Flying Fish Island from now on! Everyone except me must follow Mr. Long's orders! Does anyone have any objections?" Luo Sangu looked at everyone and said.

The pirates were somewhat surprised. Long Yufei had not been with Flying Fish Island for long, yet he was to become the military advisor. According to Luo Sangu, this was the second-in-command of Flying Fish Island! Even though Long Yufei had made a great contribution this time, the leap was quite significant! Of course, many knew that Long Yufei had also saved Luo Sangu's life. Given his abilities, it was not unreasonable for him to become the military advisor of Flying Fish Island!

"Chief, how can this be? I have just joined Flying Fish Island!" Long Yufei quickly declined.

"Mr. Long, there's no need to be modest! I believe you have the ability to be the military advisor of Flying Fish Island!" Luo Sangu insisted!

"I agree that Mr. Long should be the military advisor of Flying Fish Island!" Zhao Yi was the first to speak. He was highly impressed with the new rifles designed by Long Yufei! With his years of experience, he believed Long Yufei was not an ordinary person.

"I also agree!" Liu Lao Da, who participated in this operation, also said.

Subsequently, many pirates who participated in this operation also expressed their support for Long Yufei as the military advisor, making it a done deal. Of course, Long Yufei himself was also very excited. Becoming an important figure in Flying Fish Island would help him achieve his goals!

Next, everyone congratulated Long Yufei. Feeling their sincerity, Long Yufei was deeply moved.

"Uncle Zhao, where is Chen San?" Luo Sangu asked. She was very dissatisfied with Chen San's desertion during the battle. Appointing Long Yufei as the second-in-command also had the intention of suppressing Chen San!

"Chief! I was just about to report to you. Chen San, after returning to Flying Fish Island yesterday, announced that Chief and the others had died in battle! He also tried to take over the leadership of Flying Fish Island, but we old-timers stopped him! However, he did not give up. Last night, he led his men to try to harm Yuhu. Fortunately, we were prepared, or he would have succeeded!" Zhao Yi said with anger!

"That damn Chen San, not only did he desert during the battle, but he also tried to seize power and harm Yuhu! He deserves to die! Where is he? I'll cut him down with one stroke!" The hot-tempered Liu Lao Da was the first to jump out!

"No question, kill that guy!" The other pirates also agreed. After all, betrayal was the most unacceptable thing for pirates! The reason pirates could survive at sea was based on trust and loyalty!

Luo Sangu's face was also cold. Her brother, Luo Yuhu, was her Achilles' heel. Chen San's attempt to seize power and harm Luo Yuhu was something she could not tolerate!
