Chapter 100: The Dream of Sharing a Bed

6 min read1,567 words

When a person is injured, they easily become tired and drowsy, and Bing Zhiye was no exception. However, he didn't sleep for long before the sound of the door opening woke him up.

"Goblin," Sophina called softly, changing into slippers before entering the room. Seeing Bing Zhiye slowly sitting up in the bedroom, she hurried over to support him: "Don't move, don't move. Your internal organs are severely damaged; don't move around."

"I'm fine, I'm fine," Bing Zhiye said. "I just ate something, so there's no problem."

Sophina sat on the edge of the bed, gently laughing as she hugged his back: "What about Goblin? I asked it to look after you."

Bing Zhiye glanced out the window: "Its companion ran away. I thought it had wandered in from the wild." The forest near the Kulantin Academy often had friendly magical creatures by the river.

"Ha, never mind. These mischievous little guys often go missing from people's homes. We'll buy another one tomorrow." Sophina gently pressed his chest: "Do you feel better?"

Bing Zhiye nodded: "Yes, it's not as painful. But I feel something inside me."

Sophina explained: "Yes, many of your internal organs were damaged, so I planted a few seeds of the Qingmin Vine inside you. Its growth will connect the damaged parts to the main organs, and you'll recover quickly."

"It must have cost a lot." Bing Zhiye had heard of the Qingmin Vine. Due to its healing properties, it was often used in medical treatments, but because of its growth conditions, it was very rare. Only the royal family or wealthy nobles could afford to use it for healing. A single seed could cost around 7,000 to 8,000 gold coins.

Sophina shook her head: "Don't worry about that. Just focus on getting better."

"Thank you." Bing Zhiye lowered his head, feeling indebted to Sophina once again.

Sophina smiled: "I'm glad you're okay. Rest now. I need to take a shower and rest too; I haven't slept for two days, and my skin will suffer."

"Two days?" Bing Zhiye noticed the raindrops still clinging to Sophina's silver hair, realizing that the events of the previous night had kept her busy.

The sound of water mixed with the rain outside, and Bing Zhiye sat quietly on the bed, taking in the snow-white walls and every piece of furniture in the room. His heart had never been so calm. This calmness made him feel that everything he had thought and done before was too exhausting. He listened quietly to the rain outside and the water inside, breathing in the air of the room.

The clock on the wall ticked, and the red carpet on the floor was embroidered with golden chrysanthemums and colorful birds flying among the flowers. A painting hung on the wall, depicting a hill with a windmill, a few farmhouses, and two children sitting on the green grass, picking small yellow flowers. Bing Zhiye felt a deep emotion stir within him. The painting depicted happiness, a peaceful happiness that was the essence of home for those who wandered and suffered. As he gazed at it, his eyes grew moist.

Sophina leaned against the door, unable to see the painting from her position but able to see the reflection in Bing Zhiye's eyes. Yes, just like the painting she had carefully chosen, he yearned for 'happiness' and 'home.'

After a long while, Bing Zhiye came to his senses, quickly turning his face away and wiping away his tears.

Sophina walked barefoot on the carpet, her sensual skin and shapely buttocks clad in a red string bikini and a dizzying bra, approaching the bed: "I'm going to sleep. Do you want the light on or off?"

Bing Zhiye was more concerned about whether she would sleep there: "Are you sleeping here too?"

Sophina looked at Bing Zhiye for a moment, understanding his reservations: "No, I'll sleep on the sofa in the living room. I just wanted to ask if you need anything before I sleep. I might sleep until tomorrow afternoon."

Bing Zhiye remained silent.

"It seems you don't need anything," Sophina said with a forced smile. She took another blanket from the cabinet and, before reaching the bedroom door, slapped her forehead in frustration: "Oh no, I haven't bought a sofa yet. The dorm only has a single bed. Do you mind if I sleep on the carpet?"

Bing Zhiye lowered his head, still silent.

"Your silence means you agree," Sophina said happily, closing the door and taking a blanket and a pillow from the cabinet to lay on the floor. "Good night, I'm going to sleep now." She snapped her fingers, and a palm-sized magic array on the wall changed, plunging the room into darkness.

Bing Zhiye remained motionless for a long time, his heart feeling like a jumble of emotions. The bed was large, and having someone beside him might have been warmer, but some boundaries couldn't be crossed. He thought for a long time, slowly pulling the blanket over himself and closing his eyes: "Teacher Sophina, I'm cold."

Sophina opened her eyes: "You lost a lot of blood. It will be warmer if I hold you."

Bing Zhiye closed his eyes, already asleep, unaware of anything. Sometimes, pretending to be asleep or deceiving oneself was a way to comfort oneself.

Sophina climbed into bed, lying next to Bing Zhiye under the same large blanket, and soon fell asleep, holding his cold body.

The sleep lasted longer than Bing Zhiye had imagined and longer than Sophina had expected. She had no classes or work today, so she slept through the night after two days without sleep.

Bing Zhiye curled up in the warm embrace, having been awake for a while. He just didn't dare to wake up, unsure of what to do when he did, so he continued to pretend to sleep.

Sophina opened her eyes slightly, the dim light allowing her to see Bing Zhiye in her arms. She had been awake for some time but didn't want to wake up. The moment she embraced him, she felt an inexplicable urge to hold him tighter and make him happier. Perhaps it was a woman's innate maternal instinct, or perhaps it was a human's empathy, or something else. Whatever it was, she didn't want to let go, knowing that once she woke up, she might not be able to hold him again.

Pretending to sleep can't last forever. A 14-year-old boy can do many things, including tasting forbidden fruit. Many things are beyond one's control, and many thoughts can't be dismissed easily. Even though Bing Zhiye had experienced many storms and met various women, he still felt a lack of composure and a racing heart when in the arms of a woman he liked. His mind was a chaotic mix of trying to suppress certain thoughts and fantasizing about others, making it hazy and confused. Fortunately, his appetite was stronger than his desire, which kept him, still a young boy, clear-headed and rational.

There are times when one can't avoid waking up. Hearing Bing Zhiye's stomach growling, Sophina couldn't bear to let him go hungry, especially since he was severely injured. She woke up, stretched, and got out of bed. Naturally, Bing Zhiye also woke up from his 'sleep' when she left the bedroom.

His fingers touched the spot where Sophina had slept, still warm, but Bing Zhiye tried not to think about it. He had just been sleeping and didn't know what happened after that.

The clock on the wall pointed to ten o'clock, ten at night.

"You're awake," Sophina said, dressed: "Are you hungry? Some restaurants should still be open. I'll go buy some food. Wait here."

"Okay," Bing Zhiye said, not daring to look at her. He used magic to heal himself. Having survived alone in the wild for so long, he had learned to do so even without deliberate effort. Closing his eyes, he used his magic to sense the growth of the Qingmin Vine. This vine could grow fine, needle-like tendrils that rooted in the internal organs, growing continuously and forming a network to fix the damaged organs.

Bing Zhiye used healing magic to accelerate the recovery of his internal organs. With such good medicine, he would be able to get out of bed and move around in two to three days.

Not long after, Sophina returned in the rain: "Phoenix tail shrimp, toast rolls, honeydew ham salad, and cream abalone soup. Do you like these?"

"Thank you."

Sophina laughed: "Why are you thanking me?" She placed the food on the bedside table and, with a wave of her hand, her wet clothes dried.

Bing Zhiye moved to the edge of the bed.

"Hey, don't move, don't move. You're injured, so don't move around. I'll feed you." Sophina chose: "What should we eat first? Ham salad, okay?"

"No need," Bing Zhiye said: "Teacher, I can do it myself."

Sophina looked angry: "Do you want to get better soon, or do you want to stay in bed longer?"

Bing Zhiye had no choice but to comply.

Sophina picked up a wooden tray and forked a piece of ham: "Here, open your mouth."

Bing Zhiye felt incredibly awkward, feeling like a small child being treated.

"Hehehe..." Sophina found it amusing and covered her mouth to laugh.
