Chapter 68: Yilina and Luo's Perfect Coordination

As soon as Luo and Yilina emerged from the forest, they saw magical light flashing a few hundred meters ahead, accompanied by intermittent, ear-splitting roars.
"Such a loud noise, it must be a powerful magical beast. Let's go check it out," Yilina said, her tender mood interrupted by the massive roars. She took out the composite bow she always carried on her back. The recent experiences had made her hold her weapon even while sleeping.
The two quickly arrived at the scene of the battle. The first thing they saw was a massive ironback dragon.
Not just one group, but three groups of 12 people were surrounding the ironback dragon. Their teachers were standing by, weapons in hand. Even high-level mages dared not take the ironback dragon lightly.
As soon as Yilina and Luo arrived, they heard someone shout, "Come and help!"
Luo nodded at Yilina and charged at the ironback dragon with his spear. Yilina drew her bow, and magic-infused light arrows shot one after another at the crocodile-like ironback dragon.
A mage surrounded himself with deep brown magical light, pointed his staff at the ground, and shouted, "Earth Magic, Forest Spikes!"
Dozens of rock spikes shot up from the ground around the ironback dragon, but they shattered like rotten charcoal upon touching its belly. It seemed the ironback dragon's entire body was as hard as iron armor, not just its back.
Another student shouted, "Don't go near it, hold it back, and attack from a distance."
Luo didn't hear the warning but wasn't foolish enough to charge straight at the ironback dragon. Instead, he circled around to its side and rear, looking for an opportunity to strike.
One of the students, who had already switched from his spear and hammer to a short bow and arrows, joined the fray. The remaining melee fighters, seeing Luo charge to the rear, gritted their teeth and followed.
A warrior, while maintaining distance from the ironback dragon, called out, "Its skin is too tough. Use other magic attacks. Earth mages, use mud to trap it. Ice mages, use ice to slow it down!"
The earth mage quickly used his magic, but his power was limited, and he couldn't create a deep, large mud pit all at once. The ironback dragon's foot would sink in, but the other foot would quickly pull out. However, this did slow down the ironback dragon. The ice walls on the ground, which made it slippery, further reduced its speed.
Everyone felt a glimmer of hope, thinking they might win. The warrior, while shooting arrows, was still thinking of strategies and shouted, "Melee fighters, attack its anus, where its defenses are weakest. Archers, aim for its eyes to blind it. Earth mages, keep using mud. Ice mages, use ice. Others, use the most powerful lightning and fire magic. Also, don't stand within a 75-degree angle, 20 meters in front of it, to avoid its acid attack."
Following his instructions, the attacks proved effective. These methods were mostly known to them, having learned them in school, but in the heat of battle, they often forgot. The warrior clearly had a lot of experience.
The three warriors who followed Luo to the rear, each with different weapons, hesitated and felt reluctant to attack the dragon's anus, but they did it anyway, stabbing it under its tail.
The ironback dragon's tail, unlike that of a spined dragon, was short and thick, like a large log, and couldn't move much. When its weak spot was stabbed, it bled profusely. However, with its feet trapped and constant attacks from lightning and fire, and arrows aimed at its eyes, it couldn't turn to attack the attackers. In desperation, it defecated.
The three warriors were stunned as a large, greenish-yellow, runny pile of feces drenched them, still steaming. Yilina almost vomited, and the mages shuddered, glad it wasn't them. The warrior apologized, saying even the wise make mistakes and forgot to warn them about the ironback dragon's feces.
Luo climbed onto the ironback dragon, secretly glad he didn't listen to the warrior and attack its anus. Normally, he might have, but he couldn't bear to use such a divine weapon for such a dirty task.
Seeing Luo climb onto the ironback dragon and raise his spear to strike, the others thought he was foolish. They knew the ironback dragon's back was as hard as its belly and shouted, "Hey, knight brother, don't waste your strength. Its back is impenetrable!"
Luo ignored their warnings, charged up with lightning, and shouted, "Lightning Spear!" White lightning burst forth, crackling and shining on the 'Crimson Lotus,' like a lightning dragon, striking the ironback dragon. With one thrust, Luo felt his wrist go numb, surprised by the hardness of the ironback dragon's back. Despite this, his spear created a large hole, and in an instant, nine bloody holes appeared on its body, like the scars on a monk's head.
"Impossible, even the ironback dragon..." Not only the students but even the teachers couldn't believe that the ironback dragon, harder than diamonds, could be pierced from the back.
The ironback dragon, in pain, opened its eyes and roared. At that moment, Yilina's light arrow flashed and pierced its left eye, blinding it and making it even more enraged.
The powerful roar deafened everyone, and the acid it spewed forced them to retreat.
The ironback dragon turned to Yilina, roared, and leaped, regardless of the slippery and muddy ground, charging at her.
The warrior was shocked, "Quick, use magic to stop it!"
Without waiting for his command, others were already busy with ice and water magic, earth walls, and rock barriers, but they couldn't stop the enraged ironback dragon. The teachers, seeing the situation, were ready to intervene to save Yilina.
Yilina ran, but the ironback dragon was too fast. Suddenly, she heard Luo's voice and looked up to see him on the dragon's face, a bold move.
Luo thrust his spear into the ironback dragon's face, stood sideways, and signaled Yilina to grab his hand.
Yilina quickly ran diagonally forward. As the dragon's mouth opened, less than a meter from her, she closed her eyes, kicked off, and heard a rush of air and the sound of the mouth closing.
The onlookers held their breath, and the teachers rushed to the dragon, attacking it to save Yilina.
Luo smiled, grabbed her hand, and threw her high into the air.
Yilina spun in the air, shooting one, two, three, four... nine arrows before landing. The nine light arrows hit the holes in the ironback dragon's body.
"Oh, my god!" Everyone was stunned and amazed. The light arrows, though not causing much damage, were incredibly beautiful.
Yilina stood up, murmured, "The best archer of Silverleaf is not just a title," and gave Luo a thumbs up.
Luo smiled back and immediately ran from the dragon's face to its body, the 'Crimson Lotus' slicing into its skin, creating a long, bloody wound. Blood flowed like a stream, turning the yellow-brown mud and grass red. Soon, the ironback dragon bled to death.
The teachers, seeing Yilina was safe, breathed a sigh of relief. Although they had intervened, Yilina had escaped the danger with her own and her teammate's skills, so it couldn't be counted as their help.
The others were even more envious and admiring of Luo and Yilina's performance. Indeed, such perfect coordination in such a dangerous situation was rare.
Luo just smiled, while Yilina was quite proud. Their默契 (默契 means "coordination" or "chemistry") probably came from months of living together and constant battle cooperation, and perhaps more importantly, her trust in him.
Later, Luo asked her why she made those decisions in such a tense moment. Yilina simply said, "I believed you would catch my hand." Without absolute trust, who would dare entrust their life to another in an instant?
Johnson, squatting on a tree branch, looked at the blood-soaked ground and the dead tree lizards, sighed, and said, "It looks like we need to find a new place to camp."
