"Another new semester has started. I hope everyone had a good break?"
In the third-year Class A of the Second High School in the Central District, a young teacher who looked to be in his twenties stood at the podium, delivering a rather unoriginal opening speech.
However, most of the students in the audience did not show any dissatisfaction with this cliché. They mostly gazed at the teacher on the podium with eyes that seemed full of a thirst for knowledge.
As for the remaining part, specifically the male students, they were trying to stay awake despite their impatience. After all, it was the first day of the new school year, and it would be a real waste to be punished for being bored. Of course, they would never admit that their impatience stemmed from jealousy towards each other.
With his messy but stylish black short hair, fair skin that didn't look sickly, and a height of 180 cm, which, while short in the West, was more than enough in this Far Eastern country, paired with a handsome face that seemed to be permanently set in a cheerful smile, it was understandable why the boys were so annoyed.
"Hello everyone, my name is Levin McDowell, but that's too much trouble, so just call me Levin. I'm from the UK, so I'll be in charge of your English. Please take care of me."
"Wow, he's so handsome~"
"Levin will be our teacher, that's great!"
"Sure enough, he's as young, handsome, and mature as the rumors say!"
"Right, right, that pale skin, doesn't it look like a noble with artistic flair?"
It seemed that Levin's words had ignited the suppressed admiration of the girls in the audience, who immediately burst into a heated atmosphere. If it weren't for the class, they would have probably rushed to the podium and surrounded the new teacher to pry into every possible piece of private information.
Just as the boys were feeling jealous of this scene, a loud noise came from the back of the classroom, near the wall.
"Quiet!"
A girl with beautiful long purple hair stood at the back of the classroom, her hands bracing on the desk she had just fiercely abused.
"Stop making noise! This is a class meeting, not the time for this! We need to decide on the class committee members, so don't waste time. Quiet down now!"
The boys, who were already impatient but had no choice, looked at the girl who wasn't swayed by the handsome teacher with gratitude. Upon noticing her beauty, some of the bolder ones had already started planning how to win her over in their hearts. After all, since she seemed to dislike the new teacher, targeting her would be much easier than those girls who were deceived by the teacher's appearance.
"Fujiyama is right. Everyone, please quiet down. If you have any questions, we can discuss them after class. We don't have much time, so let's decide on the class president first. Please nominate a suitable classmate for this position."
Levin was also feeling the heat from the girls' enthusiasm. He didn't want to leave a bad impression on the first day of school. Hearing the girl's unintentional help, Levin quickly steered the conversation back to the class meeting.
The Second High School was known for its good academic atmosphere, and the students understood the discipline they should follow. After the initial excitement subsided, the girls returned to their seats, quieted down, and began looking for a suitable class president.
But this silence was a bit too much. Levin stood on the podium, waiting foolishly for a long time, but no one nominated even a single candidate.
Of course, it was a newly formed class, and the students didn't know each other well. Asking them to nominate someone would be no different from drawing lots. Levin, who had anticipated this result, was already prepared. He raised his right hand, which was resting on the podium, and pointed straight to the back of the classroom, to the person he had chosen from the start.
"Since the students aren't familiar enough with each other, if no one has a suitable candidate, I suggest that Fujiyama An take on the role of class president temporarily. Fujiyama has been the class president since the first year, and she has a lot of experience. She also did a good job just now. What do you think, everyone?"
"What?! You said it was an election! Why me again!"
Before the students could voice their opinions, the purple-haired girl, Fujiyama An, who had previously slammed the desk to silence the class, stood up again, her beautiful large eyes almost spitting fire as she glared at Levin. If they weren't in the classroom, she would have undoubtedly rushed over to the detestable teacher to carry out inhumane actions.
"Fujiyama? I've heard of her before. She seems to manage the class well."
"In a way, when she's the class president, everyone listens."
...
"Since no one has any objections, I hereby announce that Fujiyama An will be the class president of 3A!"
Levin listened to the students' opinions and selectively ignored Fujiyama An's complaints as he announced the result. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, he omitted the word "temporarily" from his statement.
"With the class president decided, the remaining positions will be chosen by the class president. I'll go prepare for the next class. See you all later!"
Levi, having thrown all his responsibilities to the new class president and avoiding the girl's anger, quickly fled the classroom. The heavy door closed, trapping the finally erupted roar inside the classroom.
==================
Gakuen Island, located off the southwestern coast of Japan, is a small island in the open sea. As a city nominally under Japanese jurisdiction, its size is equivalent to two-thirds of the capital, Tokyo. On this vast land, as its name suggests, it is composed of countless schools of various sizes, forming a special city exclusively for students and faculty.
The most famous on Gakuen Island are the Academy City, which implements closed management and represents the most advanced scientific level in the world with a population of 2.3 million, and the Mahora Academy, which is more traditional and less focused on technological education with a population of over one million. Between these two opposing and competitive areas are ordinary schools like the Second High School, which, despite their Central District name, give the impression of a buffer zone between the two major powers.
The Second High School, located on a hill, has a geographical advantage that allows it to overlook the beautiful scenery. The place that best utilizes this advantage is the rooftop of the main teaching building, where Levin is currently.
Admiring the quiet town with its beautiful surroundings from behind the safety railing is a popular activity for almost every couple. However, today at noon, there were no students to be seen in this place known as a lovers' rendezvous. The reason, of course, was Levin, who was lying on a lounge chair, taking a nap, and ruining the atmosphere.
From the end of the last class in the morning until now, at least ten couples had pushed open the door, but all were scared back into the teaching building by the teacher who had beaten them to it. In fact, no matter how open the Second High School's academic atmosphere might be, students' fear of being caught in inappropriate interactions with the opposite sex by teachers could not be completely eradicated.
"Whoosh!"
With the iron door opening again, an unknown object flew at high speed straight towards Levin, who was lying on the lounge chair. It seemed to carry the resentment of the couples, as if it were a divine instrument sent to punish him!
