*Puff.*

*Ugh...*

Yoshino, who seemed to be staring intently at the screen, felt Levi leave and immediately threw the controller onto the bed. She made a sound like a small animal when it's discontent, and her hands dragged her puffed cheeks.

"What to do..."

She lightly stomped her feet, even this small action she was careful not to wake the sleeping people. But what was the point? What she thought was an impeccable preparation now seemed more like a clumsy little girl hiding from her parents to read comics, only to be discovered in the end.

"Sigh~ He said he would keep it a secret."

Pushing the chair away, Yoshino fell onto the bed, completely drained. She had never felt so exhausted from playing a game. Afraid of being found out by Levi, she forced herself to fully immerse in the game world, but it didn't go as smoothly as she had hoped.

After all, a living person was sitting right next to her. Even if she blocked out her sense of hearing and smell, she couldn't ignore the fact that there was a 37-degree Celsius heat source in the room.

What is torment? For Yoshino, having her most important secret discovered and still having to act as if she knew nothing while challenging a highly difficult game, was one of the top five most painful moments in her long life.

Fortunately, she finally made it through. As her body and mind relaxed, she felt like a student who had only ever tried a 1000-meter run in class but decided to participate in a 10,000-meter race at the school sports meet. She sprawled on the bed, too lazy to even turn off the flashing display.

"Will he really keep it a secret?"

Murmuring these words, Yoshino made a move that would surely shock anyone who had recently met her, if they had glasses.

On the white bedsheet, the slender girl with black hair like a cloud seemed to have put the reverse gear on a time machine. She kept repeating, "What to do," like a chick singing on a tree branch. And the girl herself, actually wriggled and rolled on the not-so-wide bed, venting her烦恼.

If seeing Yoshino's enthusiasm for the game was enough to surprise Levi, what would his expression be if he saw this scene captured on a DV camera? Or would he have no expression at all, because Yoshino's behavior had already surpassed his understanding of her? Although the current Yoshino was very cute and more approachable than usual, Levi would never believe this was the aloof and proud Servant.

This was as unbelievable as if Nagato Yuki suddenly turned into a cheerful and gossipy girl. Fortunately, Levi didn't witness it, sparing his already weary mind from a greater shock.

"Ah!"

Yoshino, who had been wriggling on the bed with a red face, finally stopped. She clutched her right side, pulling out the game controller from under her spread kimono.

—Even this is bothering me!

Yoshino glared at the black irregular plastic object in her hand, wishing she could smash it against the snow-white wall that seemed to mock her!

"Long live Evangeline!"

Standing high and looking down at the beach, which was as smooth as gauze, Levi shouted excitedly.

A beach as smooth as gauze? Levi wasn't mistaken. Not only the ground that had been bombed a few days ago, but also the distant forest and the main building of the villa, all the scars left by the battle with the Berserker had been completely erased, leaving no trace.

Levi didn't come here to admire the restored scenery. In fact, the scenery inside the villa was no different from before the restoration. After a brief moment of marveling at the lazy Evangeline's rare diligence, he immediately found the stairs leading inside and ran down the spiral staircase.

The main building of the villa was comparable to a skyscraper in the city, and running from the top floor to the beach would be enough to exhaust an ordinary person.

Elevator?

Since Otis' assistant cut the cable with an axe, in the 150 years since then, elevators have become the most widely used application in the world. The skyscrapers in the city are not designed to provide fitness opportunities for office workers who sit at desks all day and lack exercise. Which building doesn't have an elevator?

The first thing to do when entering a building is to find the elevator lobby—unless the person you are visiting works on the first floor. This has long been an instinctive behavior that requires no thought. However, common sense for ordinary humans does not apply to those with supernatural powers or non-humans.

If humans had wings to freely soar in the sky, why would they need to ride in aircraft they cannot control, even if technology has made them increasingly safe?

Of course, elevators and airplanes are not comparable in terms of their scope of application and safety. Evangeline did not consider elevators when building the villa, not out of a childish desire to show off magic, although that sounds logical.

The spiral staircase that Levi was currently on was not replaced by an elevator, which would be more convenient for ordinary people, simply because of Evangeline's oversight. There were few guests, and even fewer ordinary people who were invited into the villa.

Without guests to use it and no need for herself, Evangeline had no interest in the effort to modify the already built villa just to add a feature that had no decorative value.

For the residents of the small house, the long staircase in the villa, which stretched out straight and seemed endless, was no different from the wooden staircase from the living room to the second floor. It was just a passage to other floors. In the time it took for a single thought to form, Levi had already run to a floor near the bottom.

This floor was slightly different from the others. The difference was that after opening the door at the bottom of the stairs, there was only a spacious hall, not a corridor leading to various rooms.

Levi closed the door to the hall and walked to the corner by the window, where a grand bed was placed.

Looking at the other furnishings in the room, the term "hall" used earlier seemed a bit off. The bed, table, TV, sofa, wardrobe, and the room with a thick carpet were actually Evangeline and Levi's exclusive bedroom in the villa, except that the space was a little larger, there was nothing else noteworthy.

What was the poor man, who had been kicked out of his room, doing in the villa's bedroom? What else could it be but to try to catch up on sleep before work?

Watching someone else play a game is not an interesting activity, and the awkward atmosphere in Yoshino's room made the process even more tormenting.

If Levi was still a bit excited when he first got home after buying the ticket, the most gratifying thing for him now was that the villa had not remained in the state it was in after the battle with the Berserker. The lazy vampire progenitor, who usually stayed at home, had surprisingly quickly restored the devastated ruins. One can imagine the astonishment in Levi's voice when he shouted, "Long live Evangeline!"

Could it be because there were more tenants? More interaction with outsiders is indeed the best remedy for a homebody.

Ignoring the fact that Evangeline stayed at home due to a curse, Levi, who had already kicked off his shoes upon entering, didn't even bother to take off his clothes. Facing the inviting and comfortable bed, he didn't hesitate to fall onto it.

Pulling the neatly folded blanket from beside the pillow over himself, the poor man, both physically and mentally exhausted, lay on the grand bed and quickly fell into a deep sleep.
