At six in the morning, a military-owned small demonic ship landed in the barracks. It was a flying patrol ship that resembled the shape of a rib. The head of the ship was sharp and the end was thick, and on its metal body was an “Owl Wolf” logo that represented District 13’s land garrison. As it was powered by the Demon Cube energy, there were two propulsion engines fitted on the end of the ship. The cockpit was under the arcuate armor of the ship, accompanied by two explosive cannons and two missile launchers on the side of the ship.

In terms of firepower, these kinds of small ships were quite useless. Limited by its size and it’s engines, these ships were incapable of carrying heavier machinery. Therefore, these ships were mostly used for patrolling around the borders of the districts.

But this was the first time the children had ever seen a demonic ship, and their eyes were filled with excitement as they stared at the machine.

“Alright, if you have a chance to leave this place, there are even bigger demonic ships on Babylon.” The lieutenant stood in front of the ship with his arms crossed, “Listen here, this ship will bring you to the test area. This test is a warm-up for the death game ahead. You have three days to eliminate each other, and all activities are limited in the marked area. If anyone tries to escape, trust me when I say you’d regret it.”

Hearing the lieutenant’s words, Mary’s expression changed.

“Check your gear and go up when you’re ready.” Patting on the ship, the lieutenant opened a cabin that was at the end of the ship, there were only four seats, just enough for the three children.

They didn’t bring much with them other than their weapons. As for supplies, they had to find it themselves in the forest.

Allen was the first to enter the cabin with Massacre on his back, followed by Mao and Mary. The four seats faced each other, taking off Massacre, Allen sat on the left side and secured the seat belt according to the pilot’s instructions. The other two children sat on the right, and the six pairs of eyes stared at each other uncomfortably.

The door of the cabin closed slowly as lieutenant Ron’s voice seeped through, “Good luck, kids.”

As the door closed, the lights in the cabin turned on. From the windows on their side, the children could see the ship taking flight. The whole trip was relatively smooth with no turbulence whatsoever, but there was still a small rumbling that could be felt from the bottoms of their feet.

“Watch your ass, I’m going to use this guy to explode it.” Patting his sniper gun, Mao’s other hand caressed Mary’s long legs as he stared at Allen smugly.

Allen smiled, “Did you know? I’ll shove Massacre into your mouth and tear your head off. From now onwards, you should try to talk more, or you wouldn’t have a chance anymore.”

The boys stared at each other as the smell of gunpowder wafted through the cabin. Mary lowered her head in uneasiness, not daring to look at either of them.

Quickly, the demonic ship arrived at its destination. Following Ron’s instructions, the pilot placed the three children at different locations on the forest. Allen was the last to leave, and as the ship hovered at about 10 meters above ground, he jumped off the cabin with Massacre in his hand. Landing on the ground with a roll, he softened the impact.

Raising his head, the demonic ship was already high up in the air. Two jets of blue light shot from the end of the ship as it disappeared into the distance in an instant.

And as the ship left, the forest became quiet again. After six whole months, Allen had finally returned to the wilderness, taking a deep breath of the fresh air, he walked towards the forest. He wasn’t in a rush to look for Mao and Mary, instead, he aimed to understand the test area and familiarise himself with the environment first. This was a habit formed from long years of hunting, he knew the importance of understanding his surroundings before attacking your prey to ensure they couldn’t escape.

After an hour, Allen arrived at the borders of the test area. It was sectioned off with iron wire fencing with skull signs hanging at every section, their meaning was obvious.

Using the remaining daylight, Allen walked along the border to identify the entire test area. It was extremely vast, consisting of a dense forest, two valleys and a river. Chopping down a few saplings, he dug open the trunk and collected the water from the only river in the area. To ensure that he didn’t have to expose himself at the river, he decided to hide his water supplies in multiple different areas.

As night came, he continued to move around the forest. The darkness didn’t affect his sense of direction, instead, the stars aided in his navigation as he laid a few traps around the area. Only until the dead of the night did he finally rest, choosing to hide amongst the dense leaves up in the tree.

And when the sun rose, it was the second day of the test.

Mao was frustrated.

After he had landed yesterday, he spent all his time looking nearby for a vantage point, his goal was to locate and snipe Allen. But his camping efforts were futile, the white haired boy had seemingly disappeared into thin air. With no choice, Mao took the initiative and decided to search the forest.

Snipers held the obvious advantage in an open environment, but their shortcomings were also very apparent.

They were not adept at moving, this was something the instructors had constantly highlighted to Mao. And as snipers revealed their position, they became extremely vulnerable. However, Mao’s impatience had caused him to forget the instructor’s warnings.

But even after the entire day, Allen was still missing, but as Mao searched for him, he was able to find the river. As the river cut through the valley, there were many places where the mountains were right at the sides of the river. Knowing that it was the only water source, Mao knew that Allen would have to show up eventually for water. All he had to do now was to hide near the river.

And as the second day came, he hid himself in a decent vantage point near the river. Situating himself on top of a camphor tree, he used the leaves around him to disguise himself as he aimed towards the river. But as noon came, Allen was still nowhere to be seen.

And just as he became even more frustrated, he suddenly saw a ripple in the leaves from a short distance away, followed by Allen’s silhouette moving carefully under the shade of a tree near the river.

“He’s here, he’s here.” Licking his lips, Mao stared intensely through his scope, “Come out quickly, yes, just a bit more. White fur boy.”

He could see Allen surveying his surroundings carefully through his scope. However, Mao was about 700 meters away from him, a distance too far for Allen to notice him. And after 10 whole minutes of careful observation, Allen moved slowly towards the river. Watching this, Mao cursed under his breath, “What a cautious guy.”

Finally, Allen reached the side of the river. He seemed to be famished as he dived his head into the river, gulping down the water. A cruel smile appeared on Mao’s face as he aligned his crosshair on Allen’s head. Taking a deep breath, his finger started to press down on the trigger, but just as he was about to shoot, Allen’s head shot up like a frightened deer as he stared in Mao’s direction.

“Fuck, he saw me.” Mao didn’t hesitate as he slammed the trigger.

But in that instant, Allen jumped, dodging the bullet as it landed into the river. Without any hesitation, Allen ran as Mao aimed yet again, shooting at him once more. In the next second, Allen was already in the forest, and it was unclear whether or not he had been shot. Jumping from the tree, Mao carried the gun on his back and ran towards the forest Allen had disappeared into. In just a few steps, he noticed a bloody handprint and blood stains on the ground underneath him.

Mao laughed, Allen was hurt. This was a good opportunity he didn’t want to miss. With the gun on his back, Mao followed the bloody trail into the forest.

At the same time, in a corner of the mountains, Mary raised her head. Estimating the directions of the distant gunshots, she headed towards them.

After half an hour, Mao stopped and squatted behind a shrub. He could see the green army uniform peeking from the left side of a boulder not too far away, and the uniform quickly shifted as it disappeared behind the boulder.

Allen was just behind that rock, Mao knew it. From the amount of blood he saw on the way here, it was obvious that the second shot had injured Allen heavily. He almost couldn’t stop himself from whistling in happiness, he strongly believed that Allen could not escape. Under the guidance of his instructor, he knew that he should camouflage himself until Allen walked out, at that moment, he could take his life with a single shot.

But Mao wasn’t that patient, in his eyes, what could a heavily injured boy do? He walked out from the shrub slowly. With the amount of dead grass on the ground, he knew his footsteps would create some sound.

He walked softly and slowly. Just the distance of 10 meters took him more than 10 minutes to close. And as his foot landed on the bolder, Mao could already smell his victory. You’re dead, he thought as he jumped up on the boulder and aimed his gun downwards. But what was waiting for him was not Allen, but a decapitated deer wearing a bloodied army uniform!

Mao paused as the sharp whistle of wind came from behind him. Turning back, he could see a half naked Allen jump from a tree. In his hands was Massacre, drawing a beautiful curve in the air as it aimed towards his head!

It was a trap!

Mao instantly understood what was going on, he shouted as he dodged down the boulder. Massacre shaved past his chest, missing his head as the sharp blade cut through his skin. He landed on the ground and aimed his gun towards the trees, shooting once, he used the moment Allen dodged to escape. He immediately dashed into the forest, but in just a second, a scream could be heard from the forest.

In that direction, Allen had set another trap to prevent his prey from escaping, and it seemed that Mao had ran right into it. Picking up Massacre, Allen started to head towards Mao. But as he did, the hair on his neck suddenly stood up. Instinctively rolling onto the ground, he pounced towards the bushes as a few gunshots came from behind him, it was the sound of an automatic pistol.

The uncertain and fearful face of the young girl flashed in Allen’s mind: Mary!

She might have been helpless, or even desperate, but now, she chose to pick up her weapon. Considering how close she had been with Mao in the past two months, Allen knew that she wouldn’t be on his side. He didn’t hesitate as he turned to leave in the opposite direction.
