Kate felt a headache as he stared at his granddaughter, there was no doubt that the girl before him was the most eye-catching amongst his grandchildren. Be it Origin, combat techniques or management skills, she was the best within the third generation. The only flaws she had was her wild personality that resembled a stallion, as well as her gender.

If Adele was born a boy, she would’ve been the first choice for a successor without any doubt. Kate wasn’t one to shy away from picking women, but there were plenty of areas where women were lacking compared to men, in terms of gender limitations.

In the four hundred years of the government’s history, there had been quite a few female presidents. But their terms had been quite short, they were like shooting stars that passed by earth, they left a bright mark on the world before disappearing silently.

In Kate’s heart, he loved Adele. But even if the successors in line were incompetent, the position would never go to Adele. Ultimately, the barriers to Adele’s success was the elders of the family.

As for Jas and his brother, they were not as incompetent as Adele had described. It was just that she was too eye-catching, making them seem lackluster in comparison.

In Kate’s opinion, if these two were to take over the family head’s position, they would still be able to maintain the family, but they would probably never grow it.

With a light cough, Kate spoke, “Alright Adele, let’s talk about your expenses. It’s your personal savings, but the amount you’ve spent was way too large, I have no choice but to ask.”

“Nothing much, grandpa, I used it in a bet.” She spoke, uninterested.

“Bet?” He raised his eyebrows, “Death Ring? Who?”

“That number one.” She gloated, “I have a feeling that I’ll get to profit quite a bit soon.”

“Number one?” Jas glanced at his brother before bursting out in laughter, “Adele, did you get dumber? Everyone knows that number one always dies fast in the history of the Death Ring. “

“It’s history!” She raised her head, but didn’t bother to look at her brothers, “For you to say something like this, it’s obvious that you have neither the balls or the eye for these things. My dear brother, maybe you should check the news. Number one has stayed alive since last night, killing six people! Of course, if it were you, you wouldn’t even be able to kill even one person.”

“You!” Jas stood up, his face red with embarrassment.

She continued to gloat, “Also, haven’t you heard about how Mr. Horn placed a bet on number one? Are you suggesting that he’s stupid?”

Jas fell silent, not knowing what to say.

“Jas, sit down.” Kate spoke with a low voice, “The entire Babylon knows that Horn placed his bet. But Adele, no one other than you placed a large amount on that boy. I feel that you’ve taken on a large risk.”

“Grandpa, aren’t you friends with Mr. Horn?” Adele asked in return, “In these years you’ve known him, have you ever seen him take a loss? I’ve analysed Mr Horn’s every decision in his entire life, and he’s made his profits in almost every single one.”

“If he’s as good as you say, he wouldn’t have been kicked out of the influential families.” Adele’s other brother, Ted, spoke.

“Oh, so it seems that you have done your research on Mr. Horn.” Adele raised her eyebrow.

He puffed up his chest in reply, “Grandpa has always taught us to understand our enemies and our allies well. This isn’t much, I’ve just followed his advice.”

“What an obedient little dog.” Adele nodded.

“What did you say!” His facial expression changed almost instantly, their sister always had this ability to trigger the both of them almost instantly with a sentence.

Adele ignored his anger as she laid on the sofa, shrugging, she replied, “You’re not deaf, can’t you hear what I said? Alright, I’m not going to waste my time with you on this. Listen well, just because he “lost” to the unsightly methods used by the Alexander family doesn’t mean he was weak, he just didn’t bother. During that time, he didn’t have the will to even care about the provocations of the Alexander family, which was why his family fell. But even so, his gardens are still lush, he never lost a single of his five colonial planets and his supply chains are all still active. Every single year, you’d be able to see his family’s profits increase steadily by 5%.”

“They’ve only lost their fame, but not their strength! Their fountain is still unshaken!” Adele sat upright, “Also, I’ve noticed that the Beskard family has been putting their money into their strength for the past five years. What does this mean, my dear brother? It means that Mr Horn has already begun his preparations to challenge the people who held them in contempt. In the foreseeable future, this family will continue to succeed financially, and it’s possible that this opportunity would help them return back to their position as influential, or even wealthy!”

Not only were the brothers shocked, even Kate was taken aback by her insights. After a moment of recollecting his thoughts, Kate spoke, “This is only your guess.”

“Of course, if I knew for sure, I’d be a prophet, grandpa.” She waved her hand, “But for me, this is enough. Not only are we friends with the Beskards, exchanging ten million for the goodwill of a family that might become an Influential is a smart move. Grandpa, don’t you think that our Mosen family has been famous for too long? It’s time for a change.”

The eyes of the old man lit up almost instantly as he nodded, “It has been too long, from the time our Mosen family grew through our business until now, it has been 127 years!”

“That’s right, if we are able to hold on to Beskard, a rocket primed for take off, we’d be able to at least try for influence.” As Adele spoke, she slowly leaned forwards, “Grandpa, don’t tell me you’re not curious why Mr. Horn suddenly made his move? In reality, I have a bit of insider information.”

Kate instantly turned to look at his granddaughter.

She purposefully glanced at her brothers before continuing with a grin, “But I only intend to share this with you, and not any outsiders.”

This set the two brothers off almost instantly as they stood up with their eyes widened and their brows furrowed.

However, Adele quickly turned to look at Kate with an innocent expression, and with her skills, not even Ted and Jas combined could beat her.

Kate shook his head very slightly before waving his hand, “The two of you can leave first.”

“Grandpa!”

Jas’s chest puffed up as he tried to open his mouth, but he was quickly stopped by Ted, who pulled him out while shaking his head. But just as he left, Adele added another comment, “Close the door on your way out.”

After the two of them left in anger, Adele expression became serious, “Right after those land kids reached Babylon, Mr. Horn used his own channels to steal the blood from that kid, Allen, from the training building. After a few days, he started placing his attention onto this kid. Grandpa, don’t you think that there’s some correlation here?”

“Also, we are all aware of what happened in the Beskard family ten years ago. If we were to put two and two together, we would have the reason behind Mr. Horn’s actions.”

Kate’s voice became soft, “Are you suggesting that that kid is Horn’s grandson, Lannie’s child?”

Adele nodded, “There is no other explanation.”

The old man fell into a deep thought. Ten years ago, there was an incident that rocked Babylon, something that only the nobles were aware of. It was when Horn’s precious daughter eloped with a man from land, a disgrace to the nobles that was a heavy blow to the Beskard’s name and the reason why Horn lost his will.

Everyone knew of his love for his daughter, and also how he spared no expense to protect Lannie. He sent his best men to kill the daring man that eyed his treasure, but Lannie still chose that man in the end. And after his daughter left, he lost his will and was eventually replaced by the Alexander family.

In the end, the Beskard family was thrown off the influential rankings.

If he were to calculate the timelines, Adele’s deduction wasn’t impossible. Especially because of her knowledge of the blood test, he had some faith in her theory.

He raised his head, “That means, Horn is preparing to welcome his grandson back.

“No, more accurately, he’s welcoming the future successor of the Beskards.” Adele corrected, “Don’t forget that the Beskards have no successor after Horn, none of his sons can take up the position. As for their third generation, those idiots are as weak as my stupid brothers……oh, forgive my imprudence. Regardless, Mr. Horn is most likely grooming this grandson of his, if he survives the Death Ring.”

“That being said, we should begin our preparations as well.” Kate nodded.

“Don’t you worry, I’ve already decided.” Adele stood up as she looked at her grandfather, “If he adds that Allen boy into his line of successors, marry me to him. With my appearance and my skills, I can guarantee that Horn would never find a better candidate. Not only that, he’d get the help of the Mosen family, and among the resources of a successor, a wife’s help is always significant, especially for this land kid. Mr. Horn would not reject us.”

Kate nodded yet again, if Horn was planning to add Allen into his line of successors. Allen didn’t grow up within the family, and it wasn’t an exaggeration to say that he would face opposition from all sides. At this moment, his path of succeeding the family would become smoother with the Mosen’s family help, and this is something Horn recognized. Furthermore, they could also move Adele out of the list of their successors, with this one move, they could hit two birds with one stone.
