Chapter 5

Lizhi wasn’t sure if he was still dreaming, like in Inception, a dream within a dream.

Lizhi slapped himself hard.

“Damn, I knew it wasn’t a dream!”

Lizhi, holding his right cheek, retracted his gaze from the distance and looked at the small convenience store across the street.

This small store was run by an Indian, and Lizhi usually went there to buy cigarettes, never chatting with the owner, not even a greeting.

The store generally stayed open until around 3 or 4 in the morning. Of course, if it were run by a British person, it would probably close by 8 or 9 in the evening. After all, why would British people leave money on the table?

The cash register was right at the entrance of the store, and the owner usually stayed there.

Even from across the street, Lizhi could still see that the owner of the small store was lying motionless on the cash register.

Sure enough, everyone had fainted, not just me and Her Majesty. The appearance of the zombies must be related to this!

Just as he was thinking, Lizhi suddenly saw the owner move and stand up with a sinister look! He had turned into a zombie!

Probably because of the three zombies blocking the door, the British girl and the young man beside her didn’t notice the abnormality behind them! The zombie slowly walked behind the two, ready to enjoy this delicious meal!

Zombies had abnormally strong strength. The two of them were already struggling to hold the door, let alone pay attention to what was behind them.

Lizhi didn’t have time to think and shouted loudly at the small store.

“Watch your back! Behind you!”

The warning was very timely! As soon as Lizhi shouted, the young man immediately turned around and saw the zombie right in front of him!

Purely out of instinct, the young man immediately grabbed the zombie’s outstretched hands. However, it seemed that the thin and weak young man couldn’t hold on for long.

The British girl, though a bit slow, also promptly noticed the danger.

Without caring what was on the cash register, she grabbed something and smashed it into the owner’s head.

Well, the former owner.

However, there was nothing sharp on the cash register, so the two of them and the zombie were in a stalemate.

“Sigh, I’m sorry. I still can’t save you... I can take care of the front, but not the back. The three zombies behind you will tear you apart... Hmm? Damn! Damn your grandpa!”

The three zombies actually abandoned the small store and headed towards the KTV, clearly attracted by his shout.

Lizhi slapped himself hard again.

“Shut up, you!”

Lizhi didn’t dare to waste time and ran down the stairs as fast as he could. Of course, it was more like half running and half rolling.

Damn, even one zombie would be enough to take me down with my 160 pounds.

This was a race against time, and the narrow, long staircase also delayed Lizhi. As he was about to reach the first floor, he immediately slowed down and first surveyed the entrance.

Fortunately! The three zombies that were tearing apart the living at the door had now become six. They were probably attracted by the food at the door and were fighting with the other three zombies.

In the first-floor hall, people were lying in all directions, most of them from the room he had just left, and a few others were probably from the second floor.

The young man with glasses and the manager were also lying on the ground, unconscious.

Lizhi didn’t have time to think about it and stepped over the people on the ground to reach the KTV entrance, as there was no place to step.

Two men were lying by the door. Upon closer inspection, they were the tall, thin man and the short-haired man with glasses he had encountered when delivering the drinks. It seemed these two had fainted just as they were about to leave.

This young man was really unlucky. When he rushed to the KTV entrance, he must have wanted to push the door open but was blocked by the two men lying on the ground.

Unable to push the door open, the young man with yellow hair must have tried to pull it, but it was too late.

Lizhi was afraid of alarming the six zombies at the door, so he clasped his hands together, closed his eyes, and said silently,

“May you rest in peace. It’s a good thing you didn’t come in; if you had, everyone in the KTV would have followed you... Dead companions, not dead me, we will thank you...”

After saying that, Lizhi quietly locked the door. But thinking about it, he felt uneasy and quietly walked to the nearby storage room, took the lock from his bicycle, and locked it on the door handle.

Lizhi nodded in satisfaction. With these two people blocking the door, they should be able to hold on.

Then Lizhi silently prayed. God, Jade Emperor, Buddha, Guanyin, let them eat and then roll away as far as possible. I once heard that humans are the only species that kill other beings and their own kind for reasons other than survival.

But these zombies are no different! If they remember that shout, they will surely break in!

Humans are truly pitiful! Even as zombies, they can’t change their bad habits!

And this young man is clearly not enough to satisfy six zombies!

God, Jade Emperor, Buddha, Guanyin, protect us, make them all go away.

Lizhi always believed his luck was decent, but the next second, he really began to doubt his life.

“Ah!!!”

A high-pitched scream came from behind Lizhi. He could hear fear, worry, pain, and panic in it.

Lizhi slowly opened his eyes, met the fourteen eyes of the six zombies outside the door, and then closed his eyes in despair.

“Damn! Damn your grandpa!”

“Help! Help! What’s going on!? Don’t come near me! Ah! Get away! Sob...”

Hao Chen, seeing the grim-faced Lizhi charging towards him, instinctively tried to dodge. But he stepped on someone’s body and stumbled, falling to the ground.

Lizhi, without hesitation, pounced over and quickly covered Hao Chen’s mouth.

“Miss, don’t shout! Shh... don’t shout!” Seeing Hao Chen nod, Lizhi released his hand. It was a bit inappropriate to be pressing on a stranger, so Lizhi immediately pulled Hao Chen up.

“What’s going on? Are these zombies?!”

Hao Chen pointed at the three zombies that had abandoned the leftovers and were now pounding on the KTV door.
