Chapter 65

"Yesterday, we already searched this area, but we should confirm it again today," Li Fatzi pointed to the direction they had explored yesterday and said, "This side has been cleared of zombies, so the danger level is lower. Halowei, you and your team go check this side."
Seeing Halowei nod, Li Fatzi then turned to Lily beside him and said, "You should go with Halowei's team."
"Why?" Lily raised an eyebrow, asking in dissatisfaction.
"I just said, that side has been cleared once, so it's relatively safer," Li Fatzi explained helplessly.
Taking a woman along, no matter how smart she is, would definitely bring trouble. The pressure on Halowei's team would be less, and Lily would be safer with them.
"It's the end of the world now, where can there be safety? No more talk, I'm going with you." Lily pointed around, and before Li Fatzi could say anything, she cut him off and made her decision.
Seeing her insistence, Li Fatzi had no choice but to let her go with him again.
The two groups agreed to meet back at the original spot in three hours. If Li Fatzi's group found them first or if anything happened, they would use a signal gun to notify everyone.
The sun rose higher, and the sunlight became blinding. The eight people looked at each other, nodded, and waved goodbye simply. On the empty road, the two teams set off back-to-back, leaving behind the orange taxi and the Land Rover, two empty cars reflecting a faint desolation.
"Heya, I'm entrusting Lily to you. You're responsible for her safety," Li Fatzi and Yan Zekun led the way, and he said to Heya, who was walking behind them.
Heya nodded and gripped the baseball bat in his hand tighter. This was his first time outside since being imprisoned by Aivard, and he was still a bit nervous.
It didn't take long for the four of them to reach the street where Siyao and Alex had hidden yesterday.
"Everyone, be careful! There seems to be something wrong with that store up ahead!"
The place Li Fatzi pointed to was the first shop where Siyao and Alex had hidden. At that time, Siyao and Alex heard Li Fatzi's group and escaped through the back door.
"It looks like there's something inside the store that's attracting these zombies to block the entrance." After saying that, Li Fatzi whistled.
The ragged zombies at the entrance let out low growls, abandoned the door, and charged at Li Fatzi and the others!
Heya immediately protected Lily and took a few steps back. Li Fatzi and Yan Zekun, while cutting down the zombies at the front, retreated step by step. There were too many zombies, and Li Fatzi and Yan Zekun were struggling to keep up.
Heya had no choice but to join the fight, swinging his baseball bat. His aim was a bit off, often hitting the zombies' necks or shoulders instead of their heads. However, even hitting other parts could slow the zombies down, greatly relieving the pressure on Li Fatzi and Yan Zekun.
After a few minutes, Heya finally got the hang of it and could handle a single zombie on his own. However, it took over ten hits to kill each zombie, and soon Heya was panting.
The four of them fought while retreating, and by the time they finished off all the zombies, they had almost retreated to the street entrance.
"Let's go! Siyao and Alex might be hiding in that store!" Li Fatzi called out to the others and ran towards the store.
Lily, seeing the things blocking the door, said happily, "There are things blocking the door, so at least we can confirm that someone was hiding inside."
Li Fatzi nodded at Heya, who smashed the glass door with one swing. The glass door, which had resisted the zombies for so long, was already very fragile, and Heya didn't use much force.
"Everyone, be careful. The ones hiding here could be other survivors."
After Li Fatzi said that, the four of them cautiously entered the store. It was a high-end watch shop.
After thoroughly checking the entire watch shop, they found nothing, neither zombies nor living people.
"Come over here!" Yan Zekun called everyone to the front door, "These food bags and water bottles are the ones Albe gave us yesterday morning."
Li Fatzi quickly squatted down to check.
"Right, they were here yesterday. There's no one in the store, so how did they leave?" Li Fatzi said after thinking for a moment.
"Li, I just found a back door. Did they leave from there!?" Heya said, leading them to the back door of the watch shop.
"It seems they escaped through the back door. If we keep tracking, we'll find them eventually!" Li Fatzi said, eager to set off.
"Wait!" Yan Zekun said and ran back into the watch shop.
After a while, Yan Zekun returned and threw a watch to each of them.
"Is this a Patek Philippe? Is it real?" Li Fatzi looked at the gold watch in his hand, somewhat skeptical.
"There shouldn't be any fakes in the UK! Thanks, Yan, I really like this one." Lily said, putting on the Vacheron Constantin women's watch.
"Thanks, my phone has been dead for days, and I didn't know the time, feeling lost." Heya said, also putting on the watch.
For the meticulous Japanese, not having a sense of time was indeed uncomfortable.
Li Fatzi put the watch in his shirt pocket. He already had one on his wrist, a gift from his father. No matter how good the Patek Philippe was, it couldn't compare to it.
Actually, tracking wasn't particularly difficult. Li Fatzi and the others followed the zombie corpses, and they got closer and closer to Halowei's direction. They soon discovered that Siyao and his group were looking for Li Fatzi's group from yesterday.
"They heard our shouts! They were trying to find us! But they didn't dare to shout loudly because they were afraid of attracting a large group of zombies!" Li Fatzi killed a zombie beside him and said to the others.
"Yesterday, they were looking for us! So close, and we didn't even realize it!" Li Fatzi said, punching a nearby mailbox in frustration.
"Fatzi, don't blame yourself too much, it's not your fault," Lily comforted Li Fatzi.
"We should continue tracking these corpses. The longer we wait, the less likely we are to find them." Yan Zekun said and walked forward on his own.
Li Fatzi and the other two quickly followed, and soon the four of them found the second shop where Siyao and Alex had hidden.
However, the shop's door had already been broken by the zombies, and there were many zombies wandering inside and outside. The four of them didn't waste any words, repeating the actions from the first shop, and quickly cleared the zombies.
After searching the entire shop, they still didn't find Siyao and Alex.
"That's good news," the four of them stood at the back door of the shop, and Lily comforted everyone again, "At least it shows they are still fighting for survival. If we keep looking, we will find them."
The four of them continued to follow the corpses, searching along the way.
