Chapter 83

Fang Gan and Wang Zongze looked at Harlow, not knowing what to say.

They saw zombies, two zombies inside the refrigerator!

"Forgetting to tell you, you can go anywhere and use anything in this house," Harlow paused, pointing to the refrigerator behind him, "except for this refrigerator, please don't touch it again."

Since just now, Harlow's expression had not been good. After saying this, he went upstairs, leaving Fang Gan and Wang Zongze, who were stunned, on the first floor.

He met Arthur, who had just finished using the toilet, but Harlow said nothing and locked himself in his bedroom.

"What's going on?" Arthur muttered to himself, puzzled. He went downstairs and saw that Fang Gan and Wang Zongze also looked uncomfortable, making him even more confused.

"What's wrong with you two? I just went to the toilet, why are you like this?" Arthur walked to the refrigerator and was about to open it to find something to eat.

"Don't touch it!" Wang Zongze and Fang Gan said in unison.

Arthur was startled by the two of them, and his hand, which was about to grab the refrigerator door, stopped in mid-air.

"What's wrong? Can't I eat something?" Arthur asked them, puzzled.

Wang Zongze quickly pulled Arthur away from the refrigerator and told him what he had seen.

"What? Zombies!?"

The three of them sat on the sofa, feeling a bit depressed. The lack of food was put aside for the moment, mainly because the things in the refrigerator were too disturbing.

Fang Gan, with a pale face, said, "It's a woman and a child."

"They are both black, probably Harlow's wife and child," Wang Zongze added.

"Do they pose a threat?" Arthur, hearing their words, looked worriedly at the refrigerator in the kitchen.

"They are dead. Even if they were still alive, they would have been frozen into ice blocks, so there is no threat. But this matter is a bit..." Fang Gan hesitated.

This doesn't seem right for Harlow to do.

Arthur scratched his head, troubled, and asked, "I haven't heard Harlow mention this, what should we do?"

"What do you mean, what should we do?" Wang Zongze countered.

"I mean, this is quite awkward. But this is his family matter, we should just follow the host's convenience and not get involved," Arthur replied, somewhat helplessly.

Of course, he thought Harlow's actions were unacceptable, but they had only known each other for a day, so where did they have the right to meddle in such matters?

Fang Gan sighed and said, "We Chinese believe in burying the dead, keeping the bodies frozen like this doesn't seem very humane. Even if there are zombies outside, this yard is enough to bury the two of them. Putting up a marker for them shouldn't be too difficult, right?"

As mentioned earlier, Harlow's house has a fairly large yard. It is all lawn, with a clothesline and a small shed. As Fang Gan said, this yard is enough to bury them.

Arthur still hesitated, "Harlow must have his reasons, this is his family matter..."

"Whatever we think, we must respect Harlow's wishes. After all, they are his family. If Harlow doesn't want to talk about it, we shouldn't bring it up either," Wang Zongze also agreed with Arthur's point of view.

"Respect Harlow's wishes? Shouldn't we respect the dead more? The dead should be treated with the utmost respect!" Fang Gan opposed.

Fang Gan, besides his scholarly demeanor, is a very upright person. Sometimes, he can be quite stubborn. In his eyes, anything that is wrong cannot be tolerated.

He will definitely find a way to make the wrong things right.

"I feel we need to talk to Harlow and persuade him to bury his family. If he insists on not listening, then we..." Fang Gan stopped halfway.

Although he strongly disapproved of this, without Harlow's consent, directly removing the bodies from the refrigerator and burying them, he indeed did not have the courage to do so.

But if Arthur and Wang Zongze were willing to help, this matter might still be feasible.

Seeing that the two of them were not speaking, Fang Gan sighed inwardly and had to give up on this idea.

In Arthur and Wang Zongze's view, it's best not to lecture others about big principles when it comes to other people's family matters, especially those involving the dead. After all, it is they who have lost important family members, not you. You can certainly speak rationally, but this does not take Harlow's feelings into account.

However, seeing Fang Gan's serious expression, the two of them exchanged glances and smiled bitterly. They had known each other for no more than three or four days, and they didn't expect each person to have some surprising qualities.

"Alright, guys. Let's put this aside for now. Our top priority is to find food, otherwise, we'll end up in the refrigerator too." The mood was a bit heavy, and Arthur's joke did not make them laugh.

Arthur got up and searched the kitchen with the two of them. Unfortunately, when Harlow was at home, he had eaten all the food. Otherwise, they wouldn't have been in such a desperate state when they contacted Li Fat and wouldn't have agreed to take the risk to save them when Li Fat made the request.

"No food at all? What should we do?" Wang Zongze wiped the sweat from his forehead, disappointed.

"It seems we have to look elsewhere," Arthur said, picking up the machete from the ground.

Wang Zongze hesitated, "We are not familiar with this area, who knows if there is a supermarket nearby, it's too dangerous, right?"

"Who said we have to go to a supermarket? Can't we find food in these places?" Arthur walked to the yard and pointed to the neighboring house.

The yards of British suburban houses are generally separated by fences, which are usually only about one meter high. They are more like decorations than for security.

Although there is still a risk, it is much better than going out on the street. Wang Zongze also picked up his weapon and followed Arthur into the yard.

"In the past, this would be called breaking and entering, but now there shouldn't be such a concept," Fang Gan said, trying to comfort himself, as he brought a chair from the kitchen.

The three of them randomly chose one of the neighbors, stepped on the chair, and easily crossed the fence. Arthur signaled for the two to be careful, as no one knew what was inside the house.

The three of them quietly walked to the door, and Arthur peered through the glass. There were no zombies near the door, so Arthur tried to turn the doorknob.

Fortunately, the door was not locked.

With a creak, the door was pushed open. The three of them entered the house, back to back.
