On a dilapidated road, an orange taxi was speeding along. Behind it, an endless horde of zombies followed, which was truly terrifying!
Halowei drove the taxi while keeping an eye on the situation behind through the rearview mirror.
"Shit! Where did so many zombies come from? It's absolutely terrifying!" Fang Gan had just calmed down from the shock, almost scared out of his wits.
"This must be a zombie horde! It's when a large number of zombies gather together and hunt in groups." Wang Zongze had watched The Walking Dead and Resident Evil, and often played games like Left 4 Dead, so he was very familiar with such situations.
He just didn't expect such a scene to happen to him, and it was hundreds of times more terrifying than what he had seen in TV shows!
"We need to shake them off quickly and find a safe place to stay. Otherwise, if we keep running like this, we'll eventually be trapped by the zombies!" Arthur looked back at the zombie horde and said calmly.
Halowei, without turning his head, asked, "So, do you have any good places in mind?"
"Is it possible to go back to Wonderland?" Fang Gan thought of Yuki and the others left at the nightclub and asked worriedly.
"We barely escaped the city center. Going back now would be suicide, as you put it, a 0% survival rate." Halowei answered without hesitation.
"How about going to the Riverside residential area? That's where you saved us yesterday." Wang Zongze thought for a moment and said, "I remember Siyao and Li Fat mentioned they might move there in the future. If they're still alive, they might choose to go there too."
After Wang Zongze finished speaking, Arthur and Fang Gan didn't say anything but looked at Halowei, who was driving.
"Um, that's a very useful piece of information, but..." Halowei paused and pointed behind them, "We already passed there earlier. It's definitely been taken over by zombies. Even if we could get there safely, the zombies in the neighborhood are more than we can handle."
Hearing Halowei's words, Arthur and the others couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed.
Fang Gan sighed and said, "The world is so big, where can I call home?"
"Home?" Halowei's eyes lit up when he heard Fang Gan's words.
"Speaking of which, I do have a nice place to go." Halowei finished and turned left at the intersection, heading towards the suburbs.
As they gradually moved away from the city center, they could clearly feel the number of zombies decrease. With the streets improving, the taxi's speed increased. The sound of the zombie horde gradually faded away, and they finally escaped!
"Yeah!"
Apart from Halowei, who was driving, Fang Gan and the others high-fived to celebrate. They realized that the happiest thing was knowing they could live a few more days.
"Old Hal, where are we going?" Arthur rolled down the window, looking at the sunset in the sky, and asked Halowei.
"To my home."
Halowei's words caused a stir among Fang Gan and the others.
"Can we take a shower?"
"Of course."
"Can we cook?"
"Of course."
"Can we do laundry?"
"Bro, its name is 'home.' Stop asking these silly questions." Halowei answered helplessly.
"Perfect! Yeah!"
The other three people showed their long-lost smiles and high-fived again.
For the past two days, they had been searching for Mike and Siyao without success. They also encountered a zombie horde and got separated from Li Fat and the others. The past few days had been filled with misfortune.
This time, no matter what, they could finally relax for a while. Proper rest and work balance would help them better search for the missing people.
If they remained constantly on edge, they would likely go crazy in a few days, even before the zombies got to them.
Compared to Li Fat and the others, this taxi was Halowei's private property, so he didn't choose to drive recklessly like the others. However, there were far fewer zombies in the suburbs, so they didn't encounter much danger.
It didn't take long for Halowei to park the car in front of a two-story house and open the garage door. Although the surrounding zombies were alarmed, Halowei quickly parked the car and closed the garage door again, leaving the zombies outside helpless.
"Is the house safe?" Arthur got out of the car, gripping his machete and looking around vigilantly.
The garage door was being pounded by the zombies, but it was unlikely to be broken. Once the garage was quiet, they would eventually leave.
"Don't worry, there are no zombies in the house. Here, you can relax for the night." Halowei finished, and Wang Zongze and Fang Gan got out of the car with smiles on their faces.
Led by Halowei, they left the garage and entered his house. It was a two-story house, a traditional British style. The wooden floors, white walls, and some old furniture, along with the open kitchen.
Compared to most British houses, the interior was relatively new. However, the house was a bit messy, probably because it hadn't been cleaned in a long time.
"There are three bedrooms in total, one downstairs and two upstairs. You can choose whichever you like. The bathroom and toilet are upstairs." Halowei said, walking to the kitchen sink and washing his face.
"I need to go to the bathroom, I'm about to burst!" Arthur said and hurriedly ran upstairs.
Actually, when they encountered the zombie horde earlier, Arthur had been holding his urine. Seeing the overwhelming horde almost made him wet himself.
"Halowei, your place is really nice." Fang Gan and Wang Zongze toured the entire first floor and commented.
There was a decent-sized courtyard behind the kitchen, with a somewhat messy lawn, indicating it hadn't been maintained in a while. After their tour, Fang Gan and Wang Zongze also came to the kitchen, and Halowei nodded and continued washing his face.
Fang Gan's stomach growled, as they had been busy all afternoon and were quite hungry. Seeing the large refrigerator in the kitchen, Fang Gan ran over with a smile.
He opened the refrigerator door, but the large freezer was empty, with no food. Fang Gan then opened the freezer, hoping to find some frozen pizzas, fries, or chicken wings!
"Don't open it!" Halowei, who had just finished washing his face, saw Fang Gan's actions and quickly stopped him.
"Shit! What the hell is in the freezer!?" Seeing what was inside the freezer, Fang Gan was so shocked that he fell to the ground.
Wang Zongze, who was about to turn on the TV, was also startled by Fang Gan. When he saw what was in the freezer, his face turned pale.
Halowei walked to the refrigerator with a grim expression and closed the freezer door.
