Chapter 59

Hu Donghan sighed twice, then muttered, "However, no matter what, it was just the first time. Perhaps, the Medicine Spirit Ghost didn't quite get the hang of controlling the fire, which is why it turned out this way. Let it try a few more times, and there might be a different result."

"Fortunately, I used a low-grade Spirit Tool Alchemy Furnace, which is of high quality. The residue doesn't seem as hard to clean as it would be with a Dharma Tool Alchemy Furnace."

He made a gesture, clearing the residue from the alchemy furnace, and immediately gave the Medicine Spirit Ghost another order, "Try again!" After that, Hu Donghan added, "This time, don't make the fire too strong."

The Medicine Spirit Ghost paused for a moment, then threw the Qi Nourishing Grass and White Bone Ginseng into the alchemy furnace, covered it, and began to control the earth fire again.

However, this time, with Hu Donghan's order, the earth fire controlled by the Medicine Spirit Ghost was only the size of a fingernail! This tiny bit of earth fire moved back and forth at the bottom of the alchemy furnace...

"..." Hu Donghan was speechless.

Alright, he did order the Medicine Spirit Ghost to not make the fire too strong. But, is this even considered fire control? It can't even heat up the bottom of the alchemy furnace!

"Idiot! Don't use such a small fire. Increase the fire control!" Hu Donghan ordered in his mind. The Medicine Spirit Ghost paused slightly, and then the entire alchemy furnace was enveloped by the earth fire, followed by a "bang"...

"Cough, cough..." Hu Donghan lightly coughed, spitting out two mouthfuls of black smoke, and even had the urge to directly kill the Medicine Spirit Ghost.

Increasing the fire control isn't done like that! If that fire control was used, even an iron person in the middle of the earth fire would be melted!

"The fire control... is still wrong. Try again!" Hu Donghan gritted his teeth, cleaned the alchemy furnace again, and had the Medicine Spirit Ghost refine the pills once more.

However, even with Hu Donghan's guidance, the Medicine Spirit Ghost's performance was like that of a terrorist causing explosions everywhere. In a short while, the alchemy furnace exploded eight more times! Including the first two times, in just a few minutes, ten portions of spirit herbs were wasted!

As for Hu Donghan, his face was completely black, and his clothes were torn to shreds, looking like a trendy beggar's outfit.

At this moment, Hu Donghan finally understood why the alchemists he saw on the third floor of the Earth Fire Hall all looked like beggars—this was entirely due to the explosions during the alchemy process!

After ten consecutive explosions, Hu Donghan couldn't take it anymore. He slapped the Medicine Spirit Ghost's head hard and angrily scolded, "You idiot! If you keep this up, I'll never be able to eat any pills in my life! Now, keep refining, following the method for refining Qi Nourishing Pills. When you've wasted all these spirit herbs, then stop!"

After scolding, Hu Donghan angrily ran out of the alchemy room and went up to the wooden house on the ground.

Just as Hu Donghan angrily left the alchemy room, in the air above the wooden house, Duantian Patriarch and a few other alchemists who had come to spy sighed and shook their heads.

They had all heard that Hu Donghan had received a hundred portions of spirit herbs for refining Qi Nourishing Pills and wanted to see how talented he was. However, after seeing this, they all looked disappointed—Hu Donghan's talent was truly terrible.

After ten attempts, he couldn't even get the fire control right, and each time the alchemy furnace exploded. From this, it was clear that he had no talent for alchemy at all! What a waste of his talent for cultivating spirit herbs!

When Hu Donghan angrily ran out of the alchemy room, these people lost interest and left as well.

Of course, neither Hu Donghan nor Duantian Patriarch and the others knew that after Hu Donghan left, the Medicine Spirit Ghost continued to strictly follow Hu Donghan's order to "waste" the spirit herbs.

However, this time, the Medicine Spirit Ghost didn't just throw the herbs in and cause an explosion.

Instead, the Medicine Spirit Ghost began to adjust the fire control. When a small fire didn't work, it increased the fire control; when the fire was too strong, it decreased the fire control.

After repeated attempts, the Medicine Spirit Ghost finally found the right fire control. However, by this time, it had already consumed forty portions of spirit herbs!

With the right fire control, the Medicine Spirit Ghost controlled the flames, and the Qi Nourishing Grass and White Bone Ginseng inside the alchemy furnace finally turned into pure spirit liquid. At this point, the Medicine Spirit Ghost paused again, then followed the steps for refining Qi Nourishing Pills, adding the Six Grain Worms, Beast Meat, and Spirit Auxiliary Fruit.

However, as soon as these three herbs were added, the situation inside the alchemy furnace went out of control again, and it exploded once more.

The Medicine Spirit Ghost then continued to cause explosions one after another.

In the middle of the process, the Medicine Spirit Ghost, lacking Yin Qi and Ghost Qi, went to the Ghostly Restaurant to eat and then returned to the alchemy room to continue.

Finally, after consuming another thirty portions of spirit herbs, the three herbs added by the Medicine Spirit Ghost didn't cause a significant reaction but began to dissolve with the spirit liquid. When the Six Grain Grass, Beast Meat, and Spirit Auxiliary Fruit were finally dissolved and fully integrated, the Medicine Spirit Ghost paused again and began to perform the pill collection technique.

However, after the Medicine Spirit Ghost completed the pill collection technique, there was another problem, and the alchemy furnace exploded again!

Then, the Medicine Spirit Ghost cleaned the alchemy furnace and started refining again.

Everything followed the same steps as before, like a routine, and it reached the pill collection technique again, but due to an error, the alchemy furnace exploded.

Try, explode; try, explode.

Finally, with only two portions of spirit herbs left, the Medicine Spirit Ghost successfully performed the pill collection technique. The spirit liquid inside the alchemy furnace, guided by the pill collection technique, formed small pills. When the lid of the alchemy furnace was opened, the fragrance of the pills filled the air, and the entire alchemy room seemed to transform into a heavenly realm.

However, because of Hu Donghan's order to "waste" the herbs, the Medicine Spirit Ghost didn't stop refining but casually dumped the pills on the side with the residue and continued to refine the last two portions of spirit herbs.

With the experience from the previous successful attempt, the last two portions of spirit herbs were also successfully refined. The pills were also casually dumped on the side.

After consuming a hundred portions of spirit herbs, only three batches of pills were successfully refined. The total number of Qi Nourishing Pills from the three batches was only twenty-nine. As for the quality of the Qi Nourishing Pills, it was not particularly high.

The final result of the Medicine Spirit Ghost was a small number of low-quality pills.

After all the spirit herbs were consumed, the Medicine Spirit Ghost stopped, standing still like a statue.

Unbeknownst to him, a day had already passed.
