Chapter 14 of 100

Chapter 14: The Return of the Senior

6 min read1,609 words

Throughout history, anyone who has received a blessing can possess at most three magic spells, and at least one.

This is something everyone knows.

Even the elves, known as the magical race, after receiving a blessing, can only awaken three magic slots, and there will never be a fourth magic slot.

Of course, having only three magic spells to awaken does not mean that only three can be used.

Some people, due to the special nature of the magic they awaken, can undergo multiple transformations, or have effects with multiple stages, ultimately allowing them to use more than just three magic spells.

In the Loki Familia, there are two members of this type.

One can undergo multiple transformations with the magic they awaken, and depending on the amount of incantation, the effects will vary, allowing them to use one magic spell as three. With three magic spells, they can perform nine transformations, equivalent to possessing nine magic spells.

The other has awakened a summoning magic exclusive to the elf race, which can summon the magic used by their fellow elves. Theoretically, this person can perform all the magic of the elves with just this one magic spell, far surpassing the number of magic spells any mage can possess.

Rig had only one magic spell awakened.

However, this single magic spell exhibits effects, possibilities, and versatility that are even greater than those of the two mentioned earlier.

A magic spell that can perform any magic stored in one's memory?

Doesn't that mean that as long as Rig remembers enough magic, he can use as many magic spells as he wants?

Is such a magic spell not absurd?

However, while this magic spell is absurd, it also has its limitations.

"You currently have two confirmed conditions for using this magic," Loki said, holding up two fingers to Rig.

"First: You can only perform magic that you have memorized. If you can't remember it, you can't use it."

"Second: Even if you have memorized the magic, if you haven't personally confirmed its effects, you can't use it either."

"In other words, if you want to use someone else's magic, you must have them perform it in front of you, and you must clearly remember the entire process, conditions, effects, and power of the magic, without missing any part."

This is the limitation of the "Omnipotent" magic.

Because of this, Rig is currently in a state where he can't use any magic, as he hasn't personally witnessed any magic being performed since coming to this world.

Even if he has seen magic being performed, Rig must also remember the detailed process and conditions of the magic.

For this reason, even though he saw a priest cast a healing spell in his original world, because the priest used mysterious runes that Rig had never understood, and the incantation process was not clear, Rig couldn't remember the detailed process and conditions, and thus couldn't use the spell through "Omnipotent".

Therefore, Rig currently can't use any magic spells.

Loki, knowing this, stroked his chin.

"This problem isn't hard to solve," Loki said. "Our Familia has many members who can use magic. If we have those children perform magic in front of you, and even teach you how to use their magic, with your memory, you should be able to perform several magic spells in no time, right?"

This carefree god had already noticed Rig's extraordinary memory, which surprised Rig.

However, Loki's suggestion was still very helpful to Rig.

From the conditions of using "Omnipotent," the best way to trigger its effects is to have someone personally teach Rig how to use their magic.

"Let's do this," Loki thought for a moment and said to Rig. "After the members who went on the expedition return, I'll find a good hand to teach you how to use magic, okay?"

"Expedition?" Rig's eyebrows slightly raised.

"Exactly," Loki chuckled. "Most of our children are not at home but in the underground city."

The underground city, as the world's largest secret realm, still has many unexplored areas.

This underground maze, with countless floors, becomes larger and farther from the surface the deeper you go.

This situation naturally makes it difficult for adventurers fighting on the front lines of the underground city to easily travel between Orario and the underground city.

It is said that traveling from the 1st floor to the 50th floor takes several days, and a round trip can easily exceed a week.

Thus, the concept of an expedition was born.

An expedition, as the name suggests, is when a large group of adventurers from a powerful Familia, like an army, ventures deep into the underground city to battle.

They go to floors that ordinary adventurers cannot easily reach, fighting extremely powerful monsters, exploring uncharted territories, and developing unknown areas.

The Loki Familia is one of the strongest Familias in Orario and is a legitimate exploration-type Familia. The Familia's goal is to conquer the underground city and develop unknown areas to gain profit or fame.

In the two days since Rig joined the Loki Familia, the main combatants had just gone on an expedition, leaving only a small number of basic personnel behind.

In other words, when Rig joined the Loki Familia, the true powerhouses and geniuses of the Familia were actually fighting in the deep underground dungeons, battling terrifying monsters that Rig could not even touch.

Thinking about this, Rig's heart rate quickened, and his eyes sparkled.

"Hey, hey, hey, what are you thinking?" Loki saw this and said, "You're just a level 1 rookie. It's already good if you can survive in the upper floors. Don't even think about going on an expedition; that's not something you can participate in now!"

"Is that so?" Rig looked at Loki.

Loki's mouth twitched.

This kid is actually thinking about joining an expedition?

He just received a blessing two days ago and was a complete ordinary person before that. How can he even think about an expedition? There must be something wrong with him.

Why are there so many problem children in my Familia?

It's enough to make a god worry to death!

"Those who can participate in an expedition must be at least level 2 special types, like healers who can use healing magic," Loki covered his face, sighed, and said earnestly, "Even if you can learn someone else's magic and become a special type, Fen will not allow you to join an expedition unless you are at least level 2. So, you better quickly get rid of that dangerous idea in your head."

Hearing this, Rig stared at Loki, confirming that Loki would not budge on this point, and then reluctantly looked away.

"Alright," Rig said reluctantly, "I'll wait until I'm level 2."

Loki couldn't help but roll his eyes and sighed again in his heart.

I have a feeling that my days will be anything but peaceful with this kid around.

"Calculating the time, the expedition team should be returning soon," Loki changed the topic. "Just wait two more days."

"Understood," Rig nodded.

Loki then broke into a big smile, looking somewhat mischievous.

"Once Fen and the others return and find out that our Familia has a monster like this, I wonder what their faces will look like?"

"Especially Aiz, Bert, Tione, and Tiona, they will probably be shocked by this kid's growth speed."

"Thinking about it, it's really quite exciting."

The trickster god of Norse mythology laughed quietly in the divine room, like a child preparing to watch a show.

And the day that this carefree god was looking forward to came faster than she imagined.

The next day.

When the sky outside was just beginning to brighten, Rig woke up early, just like the day before.

He quickly washed up, spending five minutes on his morning routine, and then prepared to put on his armor, get dressed, and head to the underground city.

Today, Rig planned to explore the underground city all day, no longer wasting time, to see if he could advance a few more floors.

After yesterday's update, his ability values had grown, especially "Dexterity" and "Agility," which had both reached the E stage. According to the safety guidelines, he could now explore the 8th floor.

However, Rig was not satisfied with the so-called safe exploration.

So, Rig's plan for today was to go to the 10th floor, or even deeper floors.

To prepare for this, Rig had specially maintained his weapons with bought items before going to bed last night, and was ready to make a big splash.

Thinking about entering floors deeper than the 7th floor he had reached yesterday, Rig felt a slight excitement.

"I heard that from the 10th floor onwards, there will be much larger monsters, like orcs."

"Orcs?"

"Are they strong?"

Rig was full of anticipation.

However, just as Rig was about to set out with his main and secondary weapons, a voice suddenly echoed throughout the Dusk Mansion.

"The leader is back!"

"Everyone is back!"

"The expedition members are back—!"

The surprised shouts broke the morning silence, and the entire Dusk Mansion was filled with noise.

The sound of hurried footsteps and doors opening one after another indicated that everyone in the Dusk Mansion was rushing out.

"Back?"

Rig was slightly taken aback and then stood up.

In his mind, the figures mentioned in the original story appeared one after another, making Rig squint his eyes. He took his weapons and walked out of his room, heading towards the entrance of the Dusk Mansion.
