Chapter 9

As the right hand issued the command to assemble a computer, Chen Yang took a step, ready to comply, but suddenly the right hand extended to about seven or eight meters in length, splitting into over a dozen tentacles, each grabbing the necessary components to start the assembly.

Just as Chen Yang stood there, dumbfounded, one tentacle picked up the case, another inserted the power supply and motherboard, securing the CPU with a clip, while several others inserted the graphics card and memory into their respective slots.

Once this was done, another waiting tentacle immediately applied thermal paste to the bottom of the fan, and in the next moment, the four legs of the cooler were aligned and pressed into place.

After completing these tasks, the final steps of screwing in the motherboard and other components followed in a well-ordered manner, like the most stringent factory assembly line. The optical drive, hard drive, all data cables, power cables, and case jumpers were connected, a series of intricate and necessary steps that the right hand managed to perform almost simultaneously, leaving Chen Yang with a blank expression and a mind devoid of thought.

In just a minute, not only was the computer assembled, but the table, chair, and three monitors were also set up. Chen Yang's mouth opened slightly, but he remained speechless.

One might say, "No wonder it's an alien; there are always some abilities that humans can't compare to." Chen Yang was already completely numb. Witnessing his right hand transform into such a terrifying thing and remaining calm was a pain that outsiders couldn't understand.

In any case, after assembling the computer at the fastest speed in history, the right hand plugged in the power and started the system installation.

During this idle time, Chen Yang obediently refrained from any unnecessary movements. He still didn't understand why the right hand had to buy and assemble another computer when he already had one upstairs, or what the other electronic products and tools on the ground were for.

Chen Yang couldn't figure it out. Without the necessary information and with his knowledge level not yet advanced enough to see the bigger picture, he could only think of his own safety and follow the right hand's instructions.

How does one train a hyperactive, anxious, and rebellious person to be the most disciplined? If such a person could experience even a third of the pain Chen Yang felt—direct stimulation of the pain nerves, like being cut, burned, or suffocated—any criminal, no matter how stubborn or fierce, would obediently follow orders and abandon any sense of human dignity or hope.

Therefore, without the right hand's next command, even if his back ached and his legs were sore, he couldn't take a break or have a cup of tea, letting cold sweat drip from his forehead and wet his face.

"Alright, host, go sit on the chair."

After standing for ten minutes, Chen Yang finally breathed a sigh of relief and quickly pulled out the chair to sit down.

"Outdated, outdated, the hardware is too outdated..."

The operating system was installed, but the right hand was unsatisfied. The system that took over ten minutes to install was, in its view, extremely outdated in both hardware and software. This feeling was like being used to a dedicated national-level gigabit fiber optic connection and then being forced to use a 2G network, with download speeds that would drive anyone mad.

The modern computer's basic operation, which uses binary for instructions and data, relies on semiconductor-controlled integrated circuits to record and process information. In the right hand's eyes, compared to quantum computers that control atomic states to record and process information, this was like comparing a modern calculator to an ancient counting rope. However, it was fortunate that there was at least a "rope" to use, unlike the tragedy of being in the process of evolving from sea creatures to land creatures...

Although the hardware was unsatisfactory, the software was even worse, especially the instruction set of the machine's core chip, which not only failed to fully utilize the chip's capabilities but also completely limited further performance improvements.

However, it didn't matter. It just needed to spend some time following the human hardware's instruction set to write some special software to meet the subsequent needs.

While thinking, the dozens of tentacles didn't stop moving. These tentacles, as thick as fingers, spread out, each touching a key on the keyboard, completely eliminating the need to move to select different keys. It was like having a hammer at each hole in a whack-a-mole game, pressing down when needed and hovering when not, creating a speed that was incomparable to human capabilities.

Chen Yang only saw the command prompt on the monitor constantly updating, with the screen opening and closing, unable to clearly see what the right hand was doing.

Well, regardless of what it was doing or planning to do, this situation only lasted a minute before the right hand issued another command.

"Host, go get the monitors."

Monitors?

Chen Yang was taken aback. Where were the monitors?

His gaze turned to the various items on the ground, and sure enough, he found three surveillance cameras and a large number of wires.

"Now, host, listen carefully. I need you to install these three monitors in the following locations: the internal door of the basement, the main door of the basement, and the rooftop."

What was the purpose of installing surveillance cameras?

Chen Yang was puzzled and had an increasingly ominous feeling, but after enduring so much punishment, he no longer dared to openly oppose the unknown entity or ask for the reason. He would wait for a moment when the right hand was in a good mood to ask.

This was the smart move, a sign of wisdom and prudence.

Actually, Chen Yang wasn't thinking that much; he just didn't want to be in pain or get hit. The poor kid.

With the right hand clearly indicating the target locations, Chen Yang decided to act. Installing surveillance cameras wasn't difficult; the most challenging part was the wiring. He needed to figure out how to lay the wires properly.

"You have three hours. If you don't finish, you will be punished."

After giving the command, the right hand returned to its original state and went to sleep, as if it had exhausted its energy and needed rest. Chen Yang felt a sense of freedom and breathed a sigh of relief. The presence of the unknown entity inside his right hand had constantly put him under pressure, keeping him on edge and leading to mental fatigue over time.

Now that the right hand was asleep, Chen Yang wiped the cold sweat from his forehead with a tissue, squatted down, and picked up the tools, wires, and surveillance cameras, heading towards the door.

Currently, surveillance cameras can be installed using either wired or wireless transmission. Compared to wired transmission, wireless transmission can use a Wi-Fi local network, eliminating the need for wiring, but it can be affected by buildings and various electrical devices. Most importantly, wireless transmission costs more than twice as much. With limited funds, the right hand had chosen wired transmission.

This made things difficult for Chen Yang. He read the manual for a long time before hesitantly starting. First, he installed the camera inside the room, ensuring it was at least 2.5 meters high. He brought a small ladder, climbed up to the top of the door, and used a drill to make several holes, then installed the metal bracket.

After considerable effort, Chen Yang finally secured the bracket, took a deep breath, and carefully screwed the lens into the camera's lens port. He then checked if it was securely attached and if it could move smoothly. Once everything was done, he started laying the signal and power cables.

To avoid strong magnetic interference, the signal and power cables should not be laid together and should be at least half a meter apart. This was a significant challenge for Chen Yang. The power cable was easy to connect because there was a nearby outlet, but the signal cable, without a pre-installed interface, had to be laid from the basement ceiling to avoid inconvenience.

By the time he finished installing the first camera, Chen Yang checked the time. No wonder he was so exhausted; he had no experience and had been busy for over an hour. It was now 7:15 AM.
