Chapter 94

In the midst of the swirling material snow, the curious New Yorkers caught it in their palms, the white substance looking very clean. In October, New York was like a snowy city, draped in a layer of silver, looking exceptionally beautiful. Innocent children ran excitedly in this "snow," scattering their joyful laughter.

But to those in the know, there was only a chill in their hearts, a shiver.

This was the evaporation of tens of thousands of tons of material in an instant.

In the swirling snow, the most terrifying destructive power lay hidden. This gravitational tearing ability made the informed realize just how terrifying the person they faced was. He was a creator and a destroyer, a harbinger and an apocalypse, a morning star angel and a demon Lucifer.

Gene thought of the declaration of a small apocalyptic cult, a sect derived from Christianity that claimed the apocalypse was an angel sent by God to announce the righteous ascending to heaven. Despite being resisted by the mainstream society, it still gained widespread popularity. At this moment, Gene even wavered in his faith.

In his memory, such scenes were not lacking. The Sentinels were not benevolent beings; they often used material tearing and energy heat death in their battles against Sentinel robots. But this was the first time he clearly understood the terrifying existence he faced.

Scott and Storm were silent. The tearing storm that had just passed by them made them truly experience the unstoppable, terrifying power of technology that could destroy the world. Storm's expression became strange; she suddenly recalled the professor's hesitant feeling when he sent them on this mission.

"Is this the power of the Apocalypse?" Scott asked hoarsely.

"No," Wolverine was very calm. He flicked the ash from his cigarette, gazing at the deep abyss before him, his eyes lost in thought. He said softly, "This is just the power of the War Net. The power of the Apocalypse's creations, as far as I know, is far from his limit."

"He said he could pull the moon down, and it's true!" Wolverine took a deep breath, slowly exhaling a smoke ring. "I've seen the ultimate weapon of the Sentinels, the gravity well!"

"Is this the power of science?" Storm sighed. "I feel like I should go back and get a college degree."

"The four horsemen of the Apocalypse, we've seen War. What about Plague, Famine, and Death? Has the Apocalypse already created them? Should we stop him?" Scott put aside his resentment towards Logan and asked seriously.

"The others probably haven't been created yet. They were developed after he gained control of the mutant gene pool. According to what the future professor once told us, the remaining weapons of the Apocalypse are: Plague, a biological weapon; Famine, a spatial weapon; and the most terrifying Death, a mental weapon developed with the professor's involvement," Logan said slowly.

"Even the War Net requires the genetic research of many mutants, including Magneto and Mystique. We don't know how many mutant genes the Sentinel program has collected; those records have long been destroyed. We only know that it was a global genetic collection of all mutants."

"We must stop the Sentinel program!" Scott pounded the ground heavily.

"With what? How much pressure has the Apocalypse brought to the world? How much potential has he shown? The development and research of mutant abilities are already a trend. How can you stop it?"

"Do you think that if we stop the development of mutant science, the first to object will be our government? In fact, in just two weeks, Congress will pass the Department of Defense's special military budget bill and the special technology support bill. The government will not abandon this research. This is the Apocalypse's open strategy. Do you think the think tank didn't foresee that the Apocalypse would plunder the results?"

"Are we just going to stand by and do nothing?" Scott asked, agitated.

"There's no way to stop him. Whatever the Apocalypse wants to do, given time, there's nothing he can't achieve. He can find solutions to problems, and even if he can't solve them immediately, he will eventually find a way," Wolverine said calmly.

"Since you came from the future, don't you have any solutions?" Scott asked harshly.

"I'm waiting!" Wolverine crushed the cigar's ashes with his shoe.

"Waiting for what?" Storm asked.

"Waiting for an opportunity, a suitable opportunity!" Logan smiled, turned, and walked in the opposite direction of where Chen Ang was.

"Are we just going to leave now? What about those people?" Storm was surprised.

Chen Ang stood before the two, Lady and Rupture, watching the nanobots destroy all the information about capital. He said slowly, "In modern society, it's the information age. Many people think I came here to plunder gold and currency, but it's laughable. What use are these things? The disappearance of hundreds of tons of gold is not a big deal for the dollar's monetary system. Currency has no labor value; it's just a pile of waste paper."

"Only by destroying the financial industry built on the credit system can we deal a heavy blow to capital. By destroying the information here, the complex capital credit system alone can cause a storm in the economic market. Countless profit-seeking capitals will rush in, tearing at this vast interest."

"Even if the final result is self-destruction?" Lady was surprised.

Chen Ang didn't expect them to react, but Lady's attempt to curry favor was indeed unexpected. "Even if it means self-destruction!"

"I thought they were a relatively controllable organization!" Chen Ang sat on the chair formed by the robots, looking curiously at the woman.

Lady trembled. "This power, can I also obtain it? Can you make me have such power?" She looked at Chen Ang expectantly, trying to show her presence by pushing her chest out.

"Sure, it's not a difficult thing!" Chen Ang affirmed. Lady's eyes lit up with joy. She said excitedly, "I can obey you, my master!" She was about to prostrate herself before Chen Ang.

"Wait! Don't be in a hurry! Answer me one question!" Chen Ang said slowly. "Why should I take you in? What delusion makes you think I'm someone who takes in anyone? Do you think I'm like Magneto, who takes in any subordinate without discrimination?"

"Even Magneto's Brotherhood needs a shared dream, to strive to become the rulers of the world! Answer me, do you have a dream?"

Lady was stunned. She had never encountered such a situation where her attempt to curry favor failed. With her mutant ability, she was always very popular, and she had never considered the possibility that Chen Ang might reject her.

"I have a dream, my dream is? My dream is?"

"Stop!" Chen Ang interrupted her. "You don't have a dream, no motivation to move forward with me, and you don't even have intelligence. Tell me, why should I take in someone without a dream, without ability, and without a brain? Just because of your mutant ability?"

Lady was completely confused. She nodded subconsciously and saw Chen Ang sit on the chair, holding his head in his hands, sighing, "What a pity!"

A swarm of nanobots quickly reformed into a robot that looked exactly like Lady. It extended its hand, and an extremely high-frequency sound wave hit Lady, making her body tremble and collapse. Lady felt the same mutant ability as herself and was completely stunned.

"Your mutant ability, technology can replicate at any time. It's not something unique. I don't lack subordinates like you. You need to eat, dress, and can't compare to any of my robot subordinates. If you don't have a unique ability, at least you should have a brain. Otherwise, why should I take you in?"

"Your emotional and intellectual quotient is inferior to a robot, and you lack a dream and motivation to move forward. Just do your job as an experimental subject, which is a promising career for you. Science is not suitable for you!" Chen Ang said calmly, waving his hand to have the robots take them away.

Chen Ang said he would act, and he did. Apart from his hands, he did nothing else.

This time, Chen Ang only used his mutant ability to protect the innocent people affected, while the rest was handled by the Sentinels. The result did not disappoint him. Intelligence was indeed the most terrifying power, more so than mutant abilities or the Force.

"Learn to create, because creation is greater than destruction!" Chen Ang whispered to himself.

Hundreds of miles away, in the command center, there was a deathly silence. Everyone present was watching the screen, where the snowflakes were swirling. An elderly general was lost in thought, trying hard to recall, "How many years has it been since I've seen such ashes?"

"General!" Someone nudged him.

He came back to his senses, looking at the crowd before him and said softly, "Striker, tell us your thoughts!"

Striker stood up solemnly, approaching the large photo of Chen Ang. He said seriously, "Code name X, he can now be considered a mutant. Clearly, X possesses considerable technological strength, energy, material, and production capabilities, allowing him to replicate his technological achievements."

"He is a highly centralized organization with its own production and research capabilities. He is a formidable organization in himself. The recent nanobots have maximized these capabilities, and we can clearly see the terrifying vitality and potential of this machine model."

"He already has the ability to wage a global war against us! I suggest temporarily halting the Sentinel program until we have more intelligence to make a judgment."

"I reject this suggestion!" Bolivar Trask stood up and said, "The Sentinels are our only choice to combat him. The potential of mutants is evident, and our research capabilities are not inferior to his. We have long neglected this area of development. The Sentinel robots are our only hope to combat him and the future."

"Whether in Asia or Europe, whether among Asians or Caucasians, everyone knows that the future lies in mutant science. We are destined to walk this path unless we are willing to give up our leading position!"

"The second vote on the establishment of the mutant gene pool begins now!"

"Fine! By majority vote, the Department of Defense will provide us with secret funding to collect mutant gene samples and establish the X Gene Science Center!"

"The future will be the era of America, and the future of humanity will always be in our hands." (To be continued)
