Chapter 7

Over the next few days, I continued to forge the katana, carefully timing it with the recovery of my MP. Even when my MP, which had a maximum value of 460, was fully restored, it would all be consumed in a single forging attempt.

(...I didn't realize it on the first day, but considering the title "DIY Master," maybe if I forge metals other than the hardware store's specialty, it consumes all of my MP...)

However, thanks to my efforts, I successfully generated five katana in total.

--- And then, the day finally arrived.

"Please take care of me today."

"Sure! But it's unusual for you to want to go to the market yourself."

Representing the village, we loaded the items entrusted to us by everyone onto the cart, and three of the "Beowulfs" set off for the town where the market was held. I decided to accompany them to sell the swords I had generated. They chuckled as they saw me enthusiastically preparing the load.

"You know, that place is where anyone can come and sell whatever they want. It's not exactly a clean place."

I see, it's like a flea market or a flea market, right?

"Mako is human, so he doesn't need to worry like we do."

Maul added, as if to reassure me. Maul and Meala said they would also join this trip.

"Maul, are you really coming?"

"Of course! Mako, you'll need some help, right?"

Maul said, full of enthusiasm.

"......"

"Meala, sorry."

"It's fine..."

And Meala too. She was probably worried about Maul going alone. I felt guilty. No matter what happens, I have to protect these two.

"Rest assured, ma'am. I will protect you and the others no matter what."

And Entia too. She would be carrying the items on her back and joining us as a porter.

"Alright, let's go!"

Thus, the three adult beastmen, Maul and Meala, and Entia and I set off for the market in town.

"Phew... We can finally see it."

The distance from the village to the town was quite far. Even though we left early in the morning, we didn't arrive until noon. Along the way, we had to carry the tired Maul and Meala on Entia's back. The path through the mountains eventually merged with a paved road, and after walking along it for a while, we finally saw a large town surrounded by a river. It was probably more like a moat that had been artificially created. We crossed several bridges and entered the outer edge of the town.

"Wow, what's with this wolf!"

The guards and other passersby were quite surprised by Entia's appearance.

"What's with these people? I'll eat them if they get in the way."

"Entia, don't cause trouble."

After the "Beowulfs" completed the necessary procedures, we entered the town. Right away, we found the market.

"Wow, this is amazing."

Tents lined the streets, and various goods were spread out on the sidewalks. This scene was repeated everywhere. It really was a place where all kinds of people, both merchants and citizens, brought their items to sell.

"Our spot is a bit further ahead."

Our designated spot was relatively central in the market.

"Getting a spot on the main street is pretty lucky this time."

"We arrived early, thanks to Mako and Entia."

The beastmen laid out mats and arranged the village's harvest. It was time to start selling. I was given a corner of the spot and laid out the five katana I had prepared for this day.

"I hope they sell."

Maul, sitting next to me, smiled.

"Um..."

But I was a bit worried inside. I had forged the katana after hearing that swords would sell, but would anyone buy something so mysterious? Do I need to do some advertising? Various concerns about selling ran through my mind. However, it turned out that my worries were unfounded. The reason was...

"Kwaa... Can I take a nap, ma'am?"

Entia, the giant white wolf, was lying down in front of the shop, and her presence was quite noticeable in the market. I could see several passersby giving her a second look, clearly surprised. As expected of the descendant of a divine wolf (self-proclaimed). She looked like a lucky charm, just like a beckoning cat.

"Hey, you."

Just then, a customer actually came. He was a man dressed in light armor, looking like a swordsman from an RPG game. He stood in front of our shop and called out to me.

"Is this a sword?"

"Yes, um, it's a sword imported from the East."

I tried to sound convincing.

"Hmm. You're human, aren't you?"

The man scrutinized me.

"You're a strange one, mixing with beastmen in business."

I could see Meala and the "Beowulfs" quietly glaring at him. As I had heard before, there was indeed a gap between humans and beastmen.

"Yes, I have some circumstances."

"Are you a new merchant who doesn't have a shop or a stall yet? Well, there are quite a few of you here, so it's not surprising."

The man spoke with a knowing air.

"But among them, there are some promising merchants. You can find some good deals. That's why excellent adventurers, like me, check out these lower markets."

He laughed loudly. He seemed a bit drunk; his cheeks were flushed.

"Sounds interesting, give me one."

He picked up one of the katana. Wow! It sold!

"Thank you!"

"How much is it?"

"..."

Oops, I completely forgot to think about the price.

"Um, well..."

I looked at Meala for help.

"Charge him ten gold coins."

Meala muttered, looking away.

"Then... ten gold coins."

"Ten coins? Come on, what kind of joke is this? You can't expect to pay that much for a weapon sold in a lower market. Four coins would be more than enough."

Is that so? Hmm, I've only been in this world for a few days, and fortunately or unfortunately, I haven't had to deal with money. I should have thought about it more.

"Then, four coins."

"Here you go."

The man took four gold coins from his pouch, threw them at me, and left quickly. Well, at least I sold one.

"Great job, Mako."

Maul was happy for me.

"Hmph, you shouldn't have sold it to someone like that."

Meala looked unhappy.

A little while later, an incident occurred.

"Hey, you!"

The adventurer from earlier returned, looking very angry.

"What's the matter?"

"You tricked me with a dull sword!"

He shouted.

"This sword doesn't cut at all! What's going on?"
