Chapter 4

I am Aurelia Revent. I am 17 years old. My younger brothers call me Rea-nee.
I take pride in my silky blonde hair and dark blue eyes, which I inherited from my father.
I tie my hair in a ponytail with a ribbon that my youngest brother embroidered. Isn’t it cute?
After my parents passed away and we were kicked out of our home by our uncle and aunt, I have been taken care of by Marie.
I also dropped out of school and had my engagement to my childhood fiancé dissolved.
But, I don’t really care about those things. Well, I shouldn’t say I don’t care. It was boring, so it’s fine.
There was a proposal for me to work at my ex-fiancé’s mansion, but I declined and became an adventurer with my second youngest brother, Leo.
After all, wouldn’t it be unpleasant? Why would I have to work at my ex-fiancé’s house?
I am good at swordsmanship, which I learned from my father, and I love physical activities.
It’s much better than serving a noble who you can’t read.
Most of all, I didn’t want to be separated from my brothers. I didn’t want our family to be torn apart any further.
I wanted to inherit the earldom. Just for a few years until my second youngest brother grows up a bit. I learned a lot from my father for that purpose. So, I pleaded, “I will inherit it!”
I had accompanied my father to the territory many times. I know many people there.
But! My ambition is to take back the house and title from that uncle and aunt someday.
Today, I came to the adventurer’s guild with the bento Marie made for me. Pika is with me today too.
Leo and I completed the registration. Pika is popular with the guild receptionists.
"Today, Pika is with you, isn’t she?"
"Yes, we’ll hunt a lot."
"Woof."
"Please be careful."
Today, we plan to hunt monsters in the forest, not the dungeon. That’s why Pika is with us.
Pika can store a lot of things, so I always bring her when hunting. Besides, she is a great asset in battle. She is strong.
"Sister, don’t go too deep."
"Why not? We have to go to a certain extent."
"It’s dangerous."
"It’s fine. Nico and Roro are waiting for the meat."
"Ahaha, indeed. But don’t overdo it."
"I know."
My second youngest brother and I are D-rank adventurers. Starting from F, we reached D in just one year, which is quite good.
Marie took in all four of us without a word when we had nowhere to go. We worked hard to contribute to our living expenses.
Today, we will work hard too! We will hunt a lot of monsters and bring back a lot of meat for my cute brothers!
◇◇◇
I am Leonardo Revent. I am 15 years old. When my parents passed away, I dropped out of the school I attended with my sister.
It’s not a big deal. Because I found the school boring. I had already finished studying up to the final year’s curriculum.
I was even planning to take a skip-grade exam next year, as I discussed with my mother. I wanted to graduate early and help my father.
I am often told that I resemble my mother. I think it’s because I have the same indigo hair and lavender eyes as her. My personality might be similar too.
My mother was always calm and kind, with a gentle smile. I want to be like that too.
Since I started adventuring with my sister, my youngest brother gave us ribbons of different colors as protective charms. I tie my hair with it.
I know that these ribbons are not ordinary.
I teach my two younger brothers. I also teach magic and potion-making to the youngest.
Even though he is only 3 years old, his talent is remarkable. He picks up things beyond what I teach him. The embroidery on the ribbons is also his work.
"Leo-nii is okay, but Rea-nee is worrying."
He handed it to me with his halting speech.
"Roro, is this a protective charm?"
"Yes. It can sense a little bit of danger."
"Thank you. I will take good care of it."
"Okay."
When did he learn to enchant? This ribbon must have a defensive effect. I think this youngest brother is the most talented.
My sister is very passionate and goes all out in everything. She is a headstrong type.
Perhaps because I grew up watching her, I tend to take a step back and consider the other side of things. I am cautious and try to remain calm.
Even in battle against monsters, my sister charges in first, swinging her sword. So, I protect her back.
I also learned a lot from my father, just like my sister. I prefer spears and bows over swords. Because spears have a longer reach, and bows can attack from a distance.
I want to protect everyone in my own way. That’s why I worked hard on magic. Fortunately, I have a talent for it.
While my sister uses fire magic for brute force, I can manipulate wind, water, and earth. I am good at reconnaissance using wind magic.
Today, my sister is enthusiastically heading to the forest.
Pika, the large dog (?) that suddenly appeared by Roro’s side, is also with us.
"Pika. Woof woof."
Roro said. My sister seemed to believe it, but it’s definitely not a dog.
In what world does a dog have storage skills or use magic?
Besides, it suddenly appeared by Roro’s side when we left our home after our parents passed away. How did it get in?
Thanks to Pika’s storage skills, we have been helped a lot. We could store a lot more than we could carry alone.
When we sold what we carried, we got an unexpected amount of money. This will give us some peace of mind for a while.
Without Pika, we couldn’t have carried all that.
I don’t know why it was by Roro’s side, but we have been saved thanks to Pika.
