"Wow! Roro baked these cookies!?! You're so good at it!"
Lady was surprised when she saw the cookies that Hannah was giving to everyone at the orphanage. She was being a bit dramatic. The cookies were all different shapes and plain, without any decoration.
"I helped Marie," Roro said.
"That's impressive," the lady replied.
"Mother, I think they would sell well at the bazaar," said a boy sitting next to her.
"Really, they would definitely sell if we package them cutely. By the way, I came here today to talk about that bazaar."
The bazaar that Marie had mentioned. The orphanage is supported by the Countess, who often visits. Her eldest son, Claus, also comes frequently.
The bazaar is held twice a year to foster interaction with the local residents and to raise funds for the orphanage. Of course, the children at the orphanage also sell various items.
They sell vegetables and flowers from the fields, and small items they have made.
The Countess kindly provides food stalls for the bazaar.
Not only the children at the orphanage, but also the local residents bring various items to sell at the bazaar. It serves as a bit of pocket money for everyone.
"Mr. Roro, you don't need to feel pressured," the lady said.
"Marie, right?" Roro asked.
"Yes, that's right. Besides, your embroidery is beautiful," Marie added.
"Wow! You can do embroidery at such a young age!?"
"Yes, Marie taught me."
"It's just a bit of practice," Roro said modestly.
"Still, that's amazing! I must see it!"
"Mother, please calm down," Claus interjected.
The Countess, Florentia, was leaning over the table, getting very close to me. I was a bit taken aback. She smelled nice.
"But, Claus, isn't it amazing!?"
"Well, it is impressive, I suppose."
"Right? Rebecca, who is 9, can't do embroidery at all!"
"Mother, you shouldn't say that."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
Rebecca? I tilted my head, not understanding.
"Rebecca is my sister. Do you have any siblings, Roro?"
"I have an older sister, an older brother, and a younger brother."
"Four siblings?"
"Yep. I love them all."
"They get along well," Claus said, looking away. Hmm, does he not get along with his sister?
"She's become very spoiled. It's our fault."
Ah, they spoiled her. That's not good. It will be tough for her in the future. But, as a noble lady, maybe it's okay. I don't really understand.
We ate cookies together at the orphanage. The smallest child came up to me and started talking. He had cat-like ears. I really wanted to touch them.
"How old are you?"
"Three years old."
"I'm five. I'll play with you."
"Thank you."
"Sure, here, have this one too."
"Okay."
I took care of him. Maybe it's rare for him to meet someone younger than himself?
"Hey, Roro, I want to see your embroidery."
"Okay."
"Do you have it with you?"
"Yep."
I searched through the small pouch I had slung over my shoulder. I had brought a handkerchief with me.
This pouch is my go-to set for outings. It contains a handkerchief and a small vial of potion, just in case.
Marie, who is quite anxious, always puts them in, saying, "Use it if you fall."
I guess my walking is a bit unsteady.
"Here."
I handed a handkerchief to the lady. It was one I had embroidered a while ago. Marie taught me how to embroider small leaves.
My hands are still small and don't move as I want, so I'm not entirely satisfied with the result. That's why I kept it for myself.
It doesn't have much magic on it. Just a simple charm to help heal minor injuries. It's more for comfort.
"Wow, you're good at it."
"Mother, let me see it too."
The handkerchief was passed from the Countess's hand to young Claus.
"Did you really embroider this, Roro?"
"Yep, Marie taught me."
"Amazing. This would sell at the bazaar."
"Really?"
"Yes, really. You're good, Roro."
"Hehe."
If it sells, it could help with living expenses. Maybe I can be of some use.
"Mr. Roro is very good. He even embroiders ribbons."
"Ribbons?"
"Yes, he carefully embroiders them stitch by stitch with his small hands."
"Remarkable."
"Marie, you call him 'Mr. Roro'?"
Old Bioro asked Marie. I can see why he would think that. Roro doesn't seem like a "Mr." at all. He's just a regular little kid.
"Mr. Roro, Bioro and the lady are trustworthy. I'll tell them."
Even if you say that, I can't really judge. So, I leave it to Marie.
Marie explained our situation. How our parents died, and how her son and daughter-in-law also passed away at the same time. And how we were suddenly evicted by our uncle and aunt and came to this town.
"How terrible!"
The Countess was in tears. I hope she doesn't use the handkerchief I gave her to wipe her tears. Please return it to me.
"How can such a thing be allowed!?"
Lord Claus was angry. I still don't understand much about this world or the nobility.
But I thought what the uncle and aunt did was not normal.
The ranking is slowly going up! I'm so happy!
Thank you all!
I'll keep working hard!
