Chapter 5

When I woke up and checked the system, there were notifications:

"Login bonus has been added to the gift box."

"Update notice. We received feedback from users that not being able to check the time was inconvenient, so we have added a time display system. You can check it anytime by opening the system window."

The login bonus indicated that it was my second day being confined in this room.

When I checked the system window, I noticed that the time had been added, showing that it was 5:30 AM.

However, this notification revealed that there were other users in the same situation as me. This was reassuring. Just knowing that I had companions helped alleviate my loneliness.

Well, well.

The login bonus was a "camping set." It included a tent, sleeping bag, chair, table, portable toilet, water, canned food, pot, and gas stove.

Good, with this, I could finally say goodbye to the life of sleeping in cardboard boxes.

The tent was a deep green one. Thankfully, it was already set up and materialized in this white room, so I didn't have to assemble it.

Unfortunately, the chair and table were folded.

I grunted and unfolded the camping chair, then sat down.

That's when I noticed something.

The canned food included two each of tuna, tomato soup, mackerel, corn, and chicken, totaling ten cans.

However, there was no can opener to open them.

Furthermore, the gas stove couldn't be used without the necessary gas.

...What is the management thinking? Are they laughing at us users for being depressed?

Sighing, or rather, sighing since yesterday, I looked at the gacha. For some reason, the gacha display was glowing, and it said "One free pull per day!"

Since I had nothing else to do, I pulled the gacha.

Clank

UC "Skill: Levitation" was the only thing written.

Nothing seemed to materialize.

Still, it was a skill. A skill, like in games?

This is the list of terms, and the "Skill" entry should have been added.

List of Terms

Skill

A superpower that users can use. Generally, it consumes MP to activate.

To use it, just think about using it.

You can view the skills you have learned from the skill list.

MP

Short for Magic Points. Required to use magic or skills.

I was starting to get a headache. There was no point in thinking about it, so I checked the system and found that the "Skill List" entry had been added.

Skill List

"Levitation" - Can float 1 cm. Consumes 1 MP per second.

Another mediocre skill. According to the description, I could use it just by thinking about it.

That gave me an idea. Could this be a way to measure my MP?

If I float for 100 seconds, my MP would be 100. To measure it, I decided to use the skill.

Use "Levitation"!

Whoosh

Amazing! I'm floating, floating in the air, a completely new sensation. I wonder if astronauts feel like this.

Excited, I tried to run. However, I couldn't move from my spot.

Huh, why not?

Oh, right, I can't move because I can't push off the ground.

Thinking about it, I felt a jolt and my feet touched the ground.

I measured for about 10 seconds. My MP is only 10?

What? This is so underwhelming.

UC "Skill: Levitation"

Skill. Also known as a superpower. By consuming 1 MP, you can float 1 cm for one second.

However, I only have 10 MP, so I can only float for ten seconds, and I can't move forward because I can't push off the ground.

I heard that Doraemon can float 1 mm, but why can he walk?

The next day, the President of the United States announced that they would support all Americans chosen to be future leaders.

Following this, other countries also promised to provide maximum support to their own citizens.

Everyone was being friendly to the future leaders of Earth, hoping to receive favorable treatment when the supported individuals became rulers.

Major countries announced support for their own citizens.

However, some countries had no citizens chosen, so they declared support for the major countries to curry favor with them.

Some countries, even though they had citizens chosen, cut them off when they realized their abilities were mediocre and instead declared support for those who seemed likely to win the competition.

Japan also promised maximum support to all chosen Japanese citizens.

In the midst of this, a reporter asked a question.

"Will the same level of support be given to Yamada Ryu, who received the gacha, as to the other chosen Japanese citizens?"

The official frowned and said with a troubled expression, "We cannot provide equal support to all chosen Japanese citizens. There will inevitably be some bias. We are currently considering the support for Mr. Yamada."
