Chapter 81

Looking at Deirdre's frightened expression, Da Fei suddenly felt a surge of affection. After all, if there was a mistake, it was his fault, not hers. How could he blame her?

Da Fei took the opportunity to pull Deirdre into his arms, comforting her while he sighed, "It's okay, this definitely isn't your problem. After all, the first succubus was normal, right?"

Deirdre leaned against Da Fei's shoulder and nodded eagerly, "Thank you, Master! When I was recruiting the troops, I felt an unusually strong resistance, something I've never encountered before!"

Da Fei took a deep breath of the fragrant air. Why did he feel so happy despite such a serious error? Happiness is good! Happiness made him more confident. Now was the time to investigate the truth.

Da Fei asked, "Where do you think the resistance is coming from?"

Deirdre replied, "The first resistance, of course, is opening the portal between Hell and here. That's not a problem. The second resistance is the location of our barracks. Our barracks are in a different dimension created by mages, and to transport troops here, we have to break through this layer of resistance. Although it's a bit more difficult than normal, I can manage it with some effort. Then I encountered a third type of resistance, which was extremely strong."

Da Fei's eyebrows shot up, "Could it be the World Tree's barrier?"

Deirdre neither confirmed nor denied, "We succubi are different from other combat demons. We don't transport our physical bodies to other worlds; we transport our demonic souls. After arriving in the other world, we use the summoner's magic to reassemble our bodies. Because our physical bodies are illusory, we have the ability to transform. If a succubus's demonic soul is too damaged during transportation, it might fail. Perhaps this is the reason for the current situation, at least I've never heard of anything like this before, so I can only speculate."

So that's it! Da Fei remembered the red mist that appeared when Blood Rose Studio summoned the succubus boss the other night. That must be the succubus's demonic soul. The soul is very fragile and is most likely to encounter errors during transportation.

It must be the World Tree's barrier, no doubt about it! What should he do now? Should he move the ship outside the barrier to summon troops? Wait, outside the barrier?

Outside the barrier! In that instant, a flash of inspiration struck Da Fei! He seemed to have a vague idea.

Deirdre continued, "But, Master, there's no need to be discouraged. Although only one immature succubus was summoned, there are advantages to being immature. Her skills haven't been set, so there's room for growth. If I personally train and cultivate her, she should eventually become a useful asset."

Da Fei was startled and his eyebrows shot up again, "Room for growth? Train and cultivate?"

Deirdre chuckled dryly, "Although it will take some time and effort, I have nothing better to do anyway. At least I won't be wasting your gold coins!"

A sudden idea struck Da Fei! He waved his hand to bring the pink, tender little succubus to him and began to study her carefully! After all, any normal man would study her carefully, right?

Da Fei asked, "She seems to be able to fly?"

Deirdre smiled, "Yes, most demons can fly in their youth. As they grow older, their weight increases, and their bodies become unsuitable for flight, so their wings become decorative. But I'm different; I'm the best among succubi!"

Da Fei chuckled, "Of course."

In fact, Da Fei could also train troops! How to train them?

—Expert Reconnaissance: Increases the hero's vision range by 80%, allows long-distance viewing of the opponent's hero's equipment, and enables the training of scouts in the hero's own castle.

—Scout: Level 1 troop, Attack 0, Defense 0, Health 10, Damage 0-1, Attack Speed 10, Movement Speed 15, Leadership 1, Special Skills: Advanced Reconnaissance, Stealth, Independent Deployment. Training cost: 500 gold (the most expensive Level 1 troop).

In other words, as long as a player learns Expert Reconnaissance and has their own castle, they can train ordinary NPC citizens who have no skills into scouts. Training prerequisite: NPC citizens with no skills! Advanced Reconnaissance and Stealth have been mentioned multiple times. Independent Deployment means this troop can go on reconnaissance missions without a hero leading them. The training cost of 500 gold is almost on par with Level 5 troops!

Don't complain about the cost! Note the training prerequisite: NPC citizens with no skills! An NPC with skills is considered set and has no room for growth.

But in life, who doesn't have some skills? Even a farmer knows how to pay taxes! Not to mention that paying taxes is a divine skill. It's really hard to find an NPC citizen in the city who has no skills at all!

The useless can be very useful!

That's right, Da Fei's idea was to train this immature succubus into a scout. Now that he couldn't scout himself, if he could train a flying succubus scout, wouldn't that be amazing?

But the key issue now was, could troops be considered ordinary NPCs? Considering that Deirdre could transform into an ordinary NPC, let's assume she is an ordinary NPC. Another question is, does her innate flying skill count as having no skills? And another issue is, this is on a ship, not in a castle, can the training conditions be met?

What the hell! Why worry so much! It's just 500 gold! How big a deal is that! Legendary hero Gru could train ordinary archers with set skills into Phantom Archers in the wild. Da Fei was at least in the barracks and facing a creature with room for growth, not to mention using a divine-level reconnaissance skill to do what an expert-level skill could do. He had to try!

He opened the skill panel and selected the Scout Training skill!

—System Prompt: Do you want to train the "immature succubus" into a Scout troop?

—System Prompt: Training a Scout troop requires full stamina. Please note the various conditions required for training. If the conditions are not met, the training may fail, and the gold cost will not be refunded.

There was nothing to say, he confirmed!

A beam of white light shot out from Da Fei's hand, enveloping the entire succubus. Da Fei's stamina began to drop rapidly! 50%! 30%! 10%! His stamina was in the red! It was empty! What the hell!

—System Prompt: Very regrettable! Your stamina is insufficient to train a Scout, the training has failed!

What the hell! It really failed! So you can't just mess around with succubi?

—System Prompt: You have gained information about the skill "Special Forces Training"!

Da Fei was suddenly startled! It wasn't a complete failure! There was an unexpected gain! Special Forces Training? What kind of skill is this? Da Fei hurriedly opened the Reconnaissance skill book and flipped through it, but there was no record of this skill!

Da Fei's eyes widened. Could it be another divine-level skill?
