"Just showing things within a ten-meter radius around me, what’s the point? At most, I can see what’s behind me without turning around." Shen Fei’s interest waned as he muttered, but these words suddenly startled him. After some thought, he couldn’t help but nod: "I’ll just see if this detector can show other people too. If it can, hehe, I, Shen Fei, will never have to worry about being ambushed from behind again!"
With this thought, Shen Fei wanted to rush back to the town to test it out. However, looking at the valley spewing flames and white smoke, he realized there might still be good things to find. After all, even a fool could connect the recent red light and earthquake to the detector in his head.
But the scorching ground was something Shen Fei couldn’t enter, so he temporarily gave up and decided to go back and inform the boss, hoping he could find something valuable. After all, this was the first place Shen Fei discovered, and he didn’t want to let the good stuff fall into others' hands!
With his decision made, Shen Fei ran out. At first, the moonlight was obscured by the thick white smoke, making it hard to see the path, causing him to stumble and feel very frustrated. Looking at the bright map, Shen Fei gritted his teeth, closed his eyes, and ran according to the terrain shown on the map.
Running with his eyes closed was quite terrifying. After a while, Shen Fei, panting heavily, opened his eyes and turned to see that he had successfully dodged several soil steps and tree stumps. He clenched his fist excitedly and muttered to himself, "I’ve found another benefit of this detector—it can actually help me travel at night!"
Just as Shen Fei was about to close his eyes again, he noticed several light points appearing at the top left corner of the map. Looking up, he saw a dozen torches and figures, clearly people from the town who had come to investigate the red light and earthquake.
Shen Fei was hesitating whether to meet them when he heard a loud shout, "Who’s there?"
Recognizing the voice, Shen Fei immediately called out happily, "Boss, it’s me!" and ran toward the dozen people holding torches.
Chen Haofeng, holding a torch, saw Shen Fei running excitedly from a few meters away and couldn’t help but shake his head. Hearing the laughter of his subordinates, he knew what was going on. This brat, who had been whipped twenty times, was still playing in the mountains at night, truly mischievous.
Even his own daughter, the only one who could make the brat listen, couldn’t stop his habit of running around the mountains at night. As a father who had been called "boss" since the brat was three because of his desire to join the gang, what could he do? But perhaps it was his nature, after all, he was found in the wild as an infant.
Chen Haofeng lightly tapped Shen Fei’s forehead, "You can’t even sit, and you’re still running around. Did you see that red light and the tremor?"
Shen Fei rubbed his head and laughed, "Hehe, boss, the red light and the tremor were really scary. I was just about to go check out the burning valley when I ran into you guys." Seeing others around, Shen Fei naturally concealed the fact that he had already been to the valley and had obtained a mysterious detector.
"Do you want to go see the fire burning in the sky? Go back quickly!" Chen Haofeng said irritably.
"Hehe, if you don’t take me, I’ll follow you myself," Shen Fei said stubbornly.
Knowing this brat would do as he said, Chen Haofeng patted Shen Fei’s head, "Stay close to me, don’t run around."
"Yes, boss," Shen Fei immediately followed obediently and greeted the men around him familiarly.
These men all responded friendly, except for the future brother-in-law, Zhong Shitao, who said with a hint of schadenfreude, "Xiao Fei, your sister was looking for you everywhere when we left. I bet she’ll grab your ear and scold you when you get back."
This remark caused a burst of laughter among the group. They were all the boss’s subordinates, and they had known each other for at least five years, so they were very familiar. They all knew that Shen Yuxia doted on Shen Fei immensely. Whenever Shen Fei got into trouble, she always stood by him, no matter who was right. But in daily life, she was very strict, often chasing Shen Fei around town with a bamboo whip to force him to eat, bathe, and sleep. This used to be a major spectacle in Huwo Town.
Shen Fei pouted, unhappy. This future brother-in-law just wanted him to be scolded by his sister every day, truly a petty brother-in-law.
The group of a dozen people quickly arrived at the valley. The small fires inside had already gone out, leaving only wisps of white smoke. Sensing the temperature, Chen Haofeng turned and said, "Old Three, Old Four, come with me. The rest of you stay here."
"Yes!" Two burly middle-aged men immediately followed Chen Haofeng into the valley, while the others, including Shen Fei, obediently stayed behind. The heat from the valley was enough to scorch their skin, and such high temperatures were not something they, the younger generation, could handle.
Outside, the men gathered in small groups, speculating about the size of the meteorite that had landed and whether the boss would find any treasures near it.
Shen Fei, however, remained silent, focusing on the map in front of him. At first, he thought the light points on the map were due to the torches, but when the people outside extinguished their torches to save them, the light points remained and moved with the people. This confirmed that the light points represented people.
This discovery made Shen Fei pout. He had hoped that people would appear on the map in their full form, allowing him to identify them immediately if they tried to ambush him. But now he realized he had been overly excited for nothing.
Losing interest, Shen Fei couldn’t stay still and started walking around, occasionally glancing at the valley. Knowing his habits, everyone immediately warned him, "Xiao Fei, you can’t sneak into the valley. The heat is enough to scorch your feet." As they spoke, the men formed a line to block the entrance to the valley.
Words like "little rascal," "troublemaker," "curious," and "stubborn" were created for Shen Fei. Everyone in Huwo Town knew what kind of person he was.
Seeing his intentions exposed, Shen Fei pouted and said, "I know!" and squatted down to play with the grass, looking very bored.
Seeing this, everyone laughed but didn’t relax, continuing to block the entrance to the valley and chat. After all, Shen Fei was more curious than a cat and stubbornly refused to give up until he achieved his goal. If there was a chance, he would definitely rush into the valley, even if it meant coming out with blisters on his feet. Even if he knew the outcome, he would still do it.
While squatting and pulling grass, Shen Fei turned his head several times to look at the valley, making everyone chuckle and secretly glad they had blocked the entrance early.
Realizing there was no hope, Shen Fei sighed and focused on the map. Looking at the small map, he muttered, "All the images are just tiny dots, it’s hard to see anything clearly."
As if touching a rule, a thought immediately popped into Shen Fei’s mind, "You can use mental commands to zoom in and out of the map."
Realizing he had discovered another function, Shen Fei happily thought, "Zoom in!" The tree that was originally as thin as a toothpick on the map instantly became as thick as an arm, with leaves clearly visible. Intrigued, he thought again, "Zoom in!"
Suddenly, the leaves on the tree filled the entire map. While he could see the fine veins on the leaves, they completely blocked the view of other areas.
"What’s the point of this? I can’t see anything else. If it’s only shown on the map, it’s too small, just the size of a palm." Shen Fei frowned, but still thought, "Zoom in!" again.
The map immediately showed a dense network of lines. After looking for a while, Shen Fei wondered, "Is this the pattern on the leaves? I didn’t expect it to look like this when zoomed in. I wonder if it can be zoomed in further." Thinking this, he thought, "Zoom in!" again. But this time, the image remained the same.
Realizing he could only zoom in so far, Shen Fei immediately thought, "Zoom out," three times to return to the original size, then thought, "Zoom out" three more times. The tree that was originally as thin as a toothpick became as thin as a needle, then as thin as a hair, and finally a fine line, making it hard to recognize as a tree.
On the map, which was the size of a watermelon, when the tree was reduced to the size of a hair, it became a small circle the size of an apple, with the rest turning black. When the tree was reduced to a fine line, the circular map became the size of a plum.
Shen Fei immediately lost interest. The map was too small to see anything useful, even though his light point was still flashing in the middle, he couldn’t see the other light points. After shouting "Zoom in" twice, the palm-sized circular map filled the screen again.
Knowing he needed to zoom in one more time to return to normal, Shen Fei was about to shout when he noticed a tiny white light point, the size of a pinhead, flashing at the edge of the screen. This small light point was easy to miss.
This discovery immediately piqued Shen Fei’s interest. He walked toward the flashing light point, which was the first time he had seen a light point other than his own flashing.
Noticing his real position, the light point was ten meters away, just a few steps.
