Chapter 3 of 10
Chapter 3

I realized that bringing 【Slash】 to its maximum is actually more challenging than the 【Aport】 I was given.
When I contacted a friend to ask, it seems that there are good and bad compatibilities between professions and skills.
Apparently, if you set your profession as a warrior, it’s easier to level up.
That means, if you’re a proper warrior, 【Slash】 can be maxed out at all 5, while 【Aport】 requires 20 points for any profession other than a mage, making it a pretty tough skill.
Anyway, I’ll try using it right away.
Since I’ve only hunted a few rabbits and don’t have much money, I probably won’t need to use any recovery potions for a while.
If I’m about to die, I’ll return to town and rest.
There’s a church in town that can restore HP and MP, so I don’t have to pay any offerings.
“Aport!”
I’ll try it with a pebble on the grass.
The specified pebble instantly teleports to my hand.
I scattered the surrounding green rabbits with a mediocre longsword I bought with my meager funds.
Recently, they’ve been hunted to near extinction, so it’s a relief.
I missed grabbing the teleported pebble.
It’s surprisingly difficult.
Next, I’ll try placing the longsword far away and using the skill.
“Aport! …Huh!?”
The longsword that came to my hand was upside down.
I almost grabbed it by mistake.
Maybe I didn’t consider the orientation when I used it on the pebble.
This time, I’ll try using the skill while being conscious of the handle.
“Aport!”
It worked. It seems that with an object of the weight and shape of a longsword, I can specify the orientation and pull it to my hand.
Now, to apply this in hunting… the only thing I can think of is throwing.
I’ll try throwing a pebble I picked up.
It just drops in front of me as if it were a drop item.
I found the 【Throwing】 skill.
I discovered it in the beginner’s skill book corner at the item shop.
There were other skills like 【Gathering】, 【Trapping】, 【Lockpicking】, 【Disassembly】, and 【Appraisal】 that seemed useful for adventuring.
The price was a flat 1000 groats.
It wasn’t exactly cheap.
Even if I sold the materials dropped by green rabbits, I’d need to hunt at least thirty more. However, not all of them drop materials.
My current equipment is: Apprentice Mage’s Clothing, Apprentice Mage’s Staff, and Apprentice Mage’s Robe.
I’m supposed to get a recovery potion in the tutorial, but that’s not the case.
I sold everything except the longsword.
My wallet is warm, but my body is cold.
It’s not that I’m cold, but wearing only a thin inner layer feels a bit unreliable.
I’ll buy the 【Throwing】 skill.
I’ll also buy the 【Grabbing】 skill.
It seems that sub-skills have fixed parameters for all professions.
◇Sub-Skill Tree
【Throwing】
- Accuracy: Lv1/3
- Range: Lv1/3
【Grabbing】
- Power: Lv1/3
- Duration: Lv1/3
Do I need to use points for this?
It might be a terrible design.
I can only ask my friend for advice.
I sent a message with a picture: I bought these.
I got an immediate response.
“Are you stupid? No one uses that.”
I might have made a mistake.
But it’s the only way to make use of 【Aport】.
Another message came in.
“Skill enhancement books are expensive, so use them wisely.”
There are other ways to enhance skills besides points. If that’s the case, I don’t have time to complain; I need to level up my skills and max out 【Aport】.
I don’t have any money left, so I’ll buy some recovery potions.
I can’t break the habit of spending all my money.
I think having 【Disassembly】 and 【Appraisal】 would be convenient.
I’ll remember this item shop.
On the way to the field, I checked the map on the bulletin board in the park again.
To the south of the town is a deep forest, to the west is a grassland, and to the east is a large river.
A single road leading north connects to the next town and the forest.
It seems you can’t leave this town without passing through the forest.
The old man said to come here once before heading to the next town.
Maybe the path to the library is unlocked when you reach the next town.
I won’t know until I go there.
If I can’t handle the level of green rabbits, I’ll just get killed if I head into the forest.
I’ll go to a place with a good view and hunt with other beginner players.
Actually, I might try going into the forest once.
Just a little.
Just a little.
Just to the entrance.
* I made a mistake in the split. I’ll post up to four chapters today!
