Chapter 4 of 10
Chapter 4
3 min read804 words
A straight path continues from the North Gate.
Up to the edge of the forest, the only monsters that appear are Green Rabbits.
The path is being steadily cleared by the people known as the raiding party, so it feels like the Green Rabbits have been almost hunted to extinction.
Still, I throw pebbles and long swords, gather them back, and finish them off with a [Slash]. Hunting has become much easier than at first.
My level has increased.

I need to max out the power of [Slash].
After that, I should increase the weight and keep it balanced.
If I can teleport large rocks to my hand, I could crush things with them.
It might give a rather gory impression, but that can't be helped.
Actually, from a beginner's perspective, this seems to be a rather slow way to level up.
But once I reach around level 5, I can distribute my skill points more evenly.
It's simply a matter of making mistakes. However, if I remake my character, there's no guarantee that the old man will teach me Apport again, so I have to make do with this.
Teleporting large objects to crush things is possible.
But there are no such objects in the grassland.
It doesn't seem to be a convenient ability like cutting out a designated space and teleporting it.
It's probably just pebbles, long swords, and something similar.
Of course, I don't think I can steal other people's items; that would be too much.
For a while, I'll focus mainly on [Apport] and [Slash], and learn whatever I can from skill books. Even at Lv1, being able to take action is quite good.
The view from the entrance to the forest is dense.
The path is winding, so I can't see what's ahead.
There are no monsters in sight.
So, it seems safe to venture a bit further.
A monster that just popped up nearby approaches.
It's a Forest Wolf, a small wolf-type monster.
I throw a pebble to intimidate it.
The wolf, with its characteristic agility, easily dodges the pebble.
It then lunges at my arm.
I guard with my arm, but the damage from being bitten on my bare, unarmored arm is significant, reducing my HP by about 80%.
I stab the wolf's face with my long sword.
"Apport!"
I pull the long sword back with Apport faster than I could draw it and slash the wolf's belly with [Slash].
"Yip!"
A cry of agony is heard, and the Forest Wolf disappears in a burst of light.
The drop is only fur. Maybe I can make clothes with it.
Considering my remaining HP, it's impossible to proceed deeper into the forest.
At level 3, I can't even hunt properly.
I want to quickly max out the power of [Slash] so I can do things more efficiently.
If I were a magic user, I could use magic, right?
But [Slash] is stronger than half-hearted magic right now. Definitely.
As I try to return to the entrance of the forest, I hear a voice from behind.
"What's with that naked guy?"
"Is he a beginner?"
Two men push through the grass and appear in front of me.
That's strange, their names are displayed in yellow, usually they're blue. Do different occupations have different name colors?
"Nice to mee——"
"Consider it an honor, I'll send you back to town."
"Who do you think you are! Haha!"
As I try to greet them, the man's sword is swung down.
It's the first time someone has spoken to me, so I wasn't on guard.
My HP is depleted, and I feel my body being sent back to town in a burst of light.
At the same time, the names of the two men in my field of vision turn red.
"What did this guy have? Just pebbles, a long sword, ... and a potion and the Forest Wolf's fur."
"What was this guy doing? He's only level 3, ... and he's a magic user? What the hell, hahaha."
The one who slashed me is Haji, and the one laughing is Zak.
I remember them.
