Chapter 6

5 min read1,236 words

I've risen to 15th place in the daily genre rankings, and I was surprised...

Thanks to everyone, I was able to write the continuation with a clear head...

Somehow managing to overcome the drowsiness at noon, I decided to go home after school.

"See you, Yusho, I'm going home because I want to shoot a video."

I spoke to Yusho while packing my bag.

"Alright, good luck! Be careful on your way home, okay?"

"You're not my mom..."

"Well, you do look like you need it..."

Yusho muttered, glancing at my body.

"Thanks, I'll be careful."

"Alright, I'm off to practice."

With that, Yusho started walking.

"Good luck, Yusho."

"Thanks."

Waving as he walked, Yusho headed to the club room.

By the way, Yusho is on the track and field team and is one of the top athletes in the club. He's also quite popular with the girls.

A bit envious...

After parting ways with Yusho, I got on the bus and got off at the stop near my house. I went home, put my things away, and then went shopping.

I needed to buy ingredients for the bento and dinner.

I headed to the supermarket by bike and bought the ingredients.

Returning home without any issues, I took a shower to wash off the sweat, changed clothes, and started preparing the meal.

"Maybe I should film the process of making the rice and add the audio and 3D model subtitles later?"

Today, I'm making karaage (Japanese fried chicken).

First, I cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and marinate them in a mixture of soy sauce, sake, mirin, grated garlic, nutmeg, and umami seasoning for about 30 minutes.

While marinating, I cooked the rice and prepared the other side dishes.

First, a tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelet) that would make a bento box happy.

I mixed eggs with dashi and a little sugar.

Then, I slowly rolled the omelet on a tamagoyaki pan over low heat.

Since I can't roll it perfectly, I feel a bit embarrassed to include it in the video.

The next side dish is kinpira gobo (stir-fried burdock root).

I julienned the burdock and thinly sliced the carrot.

I stir-fried them with a sweet and savory sauce. I made a bit more than needed and divided it into portions to freeze.

This way, I can easily add a dish to my bento when I make it.

By the time the two side dishes were done, the marination was just right, so I decided to fry the chicken.

I coated the marinated chicken in potato starch and fried it in oil.

It's important to drain the marinated chicken well, but you don't need to pat it dry with paper.

No double frying is necessary; I took out the fried pieces as they were done.

After letting them rest for about 3 minutes to cook through, they were ready.

The crispy and delicious karaage was complete.

All that was left was to pack the bento box, and the bento was done.

After filming, I added the audio and 3D model subtitles to the video after eating.

By the time I finished editing the video, it was 10 PM.

The video was complete, so I uploaded it.

------------

"Big brother, big sister, good evening! Today, I'm going to make a bento!"

Shirahime Yuka started talking with a fist raised high.

"First, let me introduce today's side dishes! Karaage, tamagoyaki, and kinpira gobo!"

"First, I'll cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and marinate them in this mixture of ingredients for 30 minutes!"

"While marinating, I'll make the tamagoyaki. I like sweet tamagoyaki, so I'll add a little sugar! If you're following along, keep in mind that this is a matter of personal preference!"

"When making the tamagoyaki, using high heat can burn it for beginners, so medium heat is better!"

"Once bubbles form, I'll pop them and roll the egg mixture. I'll do this in three parts."

"Once rolled, I'll cut it and serve it, and it's done!"

"Next, kinpira gobo! I'll julienned the burdock, which is a bit tedious... I love it, but making it multiple times is a hassle, so I make a large batch and freeze it!"

"Once the burdock is julienned, I'll soak it in water while slicing the carrot. Then, I'll stir-fry it with soy sauce, sugar, and mirin. I'll add a little dried red pepper for flavor and it's done!"

"This goes perfectly with rice... hehe..."

"Finally, the main event, karaage! I'll coat the well-drained chicken in potato starch and fry it in oil! Be careful, as it's hot!"

"Once it's a nice color, I'll let it rest for about 3 minutes to cook through, and it's done!"

"Next, the bento!"

"I'll pack the rice and side dishes into the bento box... and it's done!"

"Big brother, big sister, enjoy the taste! ♪"

"If this video is well-received, I might make it a series, so please give it a thumbs up and subscribe if you like it! ♪"

------ Yuru Kizaki's Perspective ------

"Oh, the video is up."

I received a notification from Shirahime Yuka's channel and decided to take a break to watch the video.

"This is a cooking video... a cooking video!?"

Vtubers are generally virtual, and corporate Vtubers don't usually shoot live-action videos.

Is this something only individual Vtubers can do?

"Hehe, she's making her favorite side dish, so she must be a boy..."

In the video, Shirahime Yuka is happily making karaage.

Just imagining that cute boy eating it deliciously makes me feel like I could eat three bowls of rice. Although I can't actually eat that much.

"Big sister, enjoy the taste! ♪"

This is dangerous.

"Ahhh!"

My heart fluttered.

Usually, I maintain a cool image, but while watching her, I feel like a teenage girl.
