Yao Lei looked at the mess in the dormitory and couldn't help but curse, "Damn, this is too scary, it's like a bunch of bandits were here."
Ye Lingtian smiled and advised, "Alright, it's already like this, cursing won't help. Let's clean up first. Besides, we don't even know who lived here before. Who are you cursing?"
The two chose their beds. Ye Lingtian picked one by the window, and just as he was about to lie down to rest, he heard the sound of a key turning in the lock. Then, a thin, bespectacled boy carrying living supplies walked in.
Just as Ye Lingtian was about to greet him, another person came in, a fat guy wearing branded clothes, clearly from a well-off family.
The fat guy, seeing that the other three had arrived before him, didn't seem bothered and said with a smile, "Hey, you guys are all here! Introduce yourselves, and let's go eat together. I'll treat you!"
It was better when he wasn't smiling; when he smiled, his eyes squinted into slits, making him look like the Buddha from *Journey to the West*.
"Zzz..."
Just as the fat guy finished speaking, a strange sound was heard, clearly someone had farted. Everyone in the dormitory froze, the atmosphere became awkward, and no one knew what to say.
"Cough, cough! From the accent, it doesn't sound like you're from around here..." The fat guy coughed and said.
"Um, I'm from Yue Dong," the bespectacled boy replied subconsciously. Immediately, he felt six pairs of eyes shoot over, and his face turned bright red.
"Ha! Haha..." The three, including Ye Lingtian, burst out laughing, pointing at the bespectacled boy, who wished there was a hole in the ground to hide in.
After a while, the laughter subsided, and Yao Lei said, "Alright, everyone introduce yourselves. I'm Yao Lei, from Dengzhou in Hexi. I don't have any special skills, but I can handle a fight. I don't fear two or three people. If you guys have any problems in the future, just come to me for help."
The fat guy smiled and said, "Dai Wenliang, from Yanjing."
Ye Lingtian laughed and said, "Ye Lingtian, from Linzhou in Jiangnan."
"Shao Weijie, from Yuezhou in Yue Dong." The bespectacled boy's face was still a bit red.
Yao Lei suggested they take out their ID cards, and to his surprise, Ye Lingtian was the oldest, followed by Yao Lei, Dai Wenliang, and Shao Weijie.
Yao Lei looked a bit depressed and said angrily, "Hey, don't call me 'Old Two' in the future!"
Dai Wenliang covered his mouth and chuckled, "You're already called 'Old Two.' What else would we call you?"
Yao Lei glanced at the others and said flatteringly, "I'm Yao Lei, just call me Lei. Is that okay?"
Ye Lingtian also felt that 'Old Two' wasn't a good nickname and was about to agree, but Dai Wenliang beat him to it, "No way! If you want us not to call you 'Old Two,' unless... hehe!" Dai Wenliang laughed slyly but stopped speaking.
Yao Lei, clearly anxious, couldn't help but ask, "Unless what? Fatso, just say it!"
Dai Wenliang winked and said, "Unless you treat us to dinner!"
"Fine, I'll treat you, but anyone who calls me 'Old Two' in the future has to treat us to dinner!" Yao Lei huffed. A meal to get rid of this unflattering nickname seemed like a good deal.
"Great! Big Brother, Lei, you rest for a bit. I'll help the bespectacled boy set up the beds, and then we'll go eat!" Dai Wenliang looked smug, as if his plan had succeeded. This guy couldn't go three sentences without mentioning food, no wonder he was so fat.
The canteen at Yanjing University was really well-equipped, like a hotel. It had booths, dining halls, and private rooms, everything you could think of. The Canteen No. 1 in the southern part of the campus was the cleanest, had the best food, and the best service.
As they walked into the canteen, they noticed that some of the freshmen eating there were looking at them with fear, and a few timid girls even picked up their plates and hid far away.
Ye Lingtian glanced at Yao Lei, who was walking in front, and immediately understood what was happening. He exchanged looks with Dai Wenliang and Shao Weijie, and the three quietly moved to the side, leaving Yao Lei in the middle of the path.
Unaware of the situation, Yao Lei saw the students' expressions and waved his hands, pretending to be casual, "Keep eating, don't mind me."
But to the others, it sounded like a warning, "If any of you move, watch out."
Finally, with the help of the canteen staff, the freshmen relaxed and continued eating. Yao Lei, realizing what had happened, walked over to Ye Lingtian and the others, who were covering their mouths and chuckling, and said resentfully, "What are you laughing at? I'm not in a gang."
Shao Weijie looked at Yao Lei and chuckled, "Actually, with your look, even real gangsters might be scared of you."
Yao Lei glared at Shao Weijie, wanting to say something but couldn't. He turned and called a waiter, said a few words, and the four of them were led to a private room on the third floor.
After ordering the dishes, Yao Lei smiled at the waiter, "Bring us two cases of beer first. And replace these glasses with four large mugs."
Soon, the waiter brought four large mugs, and Ye Lingtian saw that they were 500 ml mugs, about the size of a bottle of beer.
Without a word, Yao Lei took the bottle opener and "pop, pop, pop, pop!" opened four bottles of beer, gave one to each of them, filled the large mugs, and raised his glass to clink with Ye Lingtian and the others, saying heartily, "We four have come from all over to be together, it's fate. Here's to our fate!"
With that, he opened his mouth, tilted his head back, and the beer in the large mug flowed out like a flood, quickly disappearing.
Seeing this, Ye Lingtian, Dai Wenliang, and Shao Weijie all said, "Here's to our fate!"
Before long, the two cases of 24 bottles of beer were finished by the four of them. However, after drinking the fourth large mug, Shao Weijie couldn't handle it and was already snoring on the table.
Shao Weijie had a low alcohol tolerance, and without eating any food, drinking four large mugs on an empty stomach quickly took effect. Although beer had a low alcohol content, getting drunk on it was more uncomfortable than getting drunk on hard liquor.
Ye Lingtian didn't feel much, as this was his first time drinking so freely. To him, it felt like drinking water.
He didn't know how much he could drink. When his father was alive, his parents never let him drink. After he grew up, due to the family's financial difficulties, he only had a drink or two during the New Year, and rarely drank otherwise.
Seeing that Ye Lingtian and Dai Wenliang could drink well, Yao Lei was very happy and wanted to order another case, but Ye Lingtian and Dai Wenliang stopped him.
After eating, the three carried Shao Weijie back to the dormitory. After a day of travel, everyone felt tired, and with the alcohol, they all lay down to rest.
"My college life begins today!" Ye Lingtian thought to himself as he lay in bed and soon fell asleep.
