Chapter 24 – You Dare Lecture my People? (2)

“Third Miss, please don’t make things difficult for me, there’s a lot of work to do in the kitchen. I couldn’t possibly bear the responsibility should Old Madam’s meals be delayed.” Old wife Li objected, looking down on Shen Ziqiao as she foolishly rejects her face-saving effort by arguing here.

Shen Ziqiao glanced at her coldly, “Me? What a big face you have, Old wife Li.”

Old wife Li curled her lips, “I dare not accept Third Miss’ kind words, Nubi (self-acclaimed for female slave servant) is merely telling the truth.”

“Go steam me a fish, I also want to eat Ginger-baked Chicken and Eight-treasure Rice Pudding.” Shen Ziqiao haughtily commanded Old wife Li, while looking at her scornfully.

Old wife Li’s face ashen, “Third Miss, Nubi is unable to make it at the moment.”

“What is the use of keeping you if you can’t make it? Get out of here, the Shen family does not keep useless people.” The smile on Shen Ziqiao’s face remained, though she did not look directly at Old wife Li.

“Who knows who is the real useless one here.” Old wife Li was bewildered, Third Miss had never dared to stand up for a maidservant before, what was with her transformation today? Words came out of Old wife Li’s mouth in mortification before she could filter them once she heard that she was to be driven out.

Shen Ziqiao’s face darkened, “Hong Yu, slap her mouth.”

Hong Yu’s face turned pale as she heard those words, “Third Miss…”

"

"

This was the Old Madam’s personal maidservant’s daughter-in-law, not one who could simply be punished.

“Hong Ying, can you still move?” Shen Ziqiao took a glance at Hong Yu before turning to face Hong Ying.

“How could Nubi not move when Third Miss commands?” Enduring the pain on her face, Hong Ying scrambled up and raised her hand to slap Old wife Li’s face twice, ruthlessly.

Old wife Li glared at Shen Ziqiao disbelievingly, “You dare to slap me?”

“Why can’t I slap you? Today is the day you are made to remember clearly, who actually is the master.” Shen Ziqiao said coldly, “Hong Ying, keep slapping, slap till she learns how to respect this Third Miss.”

Hong Ying responded, and delivered another two slaps.

Old wife Li shrieked and wrestled with Hong Ying, “You little hussy, you dare strike me.”

“Hold her down!” Shen Ziqiao ordered the two maidservants by her side, Ping’er and Hong Yu.

Both maidservants dare not rebuffed, each taking a side to hold Old wife Li down.

Cui Ping hastily shouted at Hong Ying to stop, the moment she saw Shen Ziqiao unexpectedly slapping someone, “ Third Miss, let’s not make a scene.”

“Who’s making a scene!” Shen Ziqiao asked sternly, while looking at the several pozi ( older maidservant ) who were planning to hold Hong Ying back, “Who dares to touch my people? Did you really think I would not drive you out?”

Even if Shen Ziqiao was not in favour, she was still the Shen family’s legal daughter.

A precious treasure doted on by both the Master and the Eldest Young Master, both of which were about to return soon.

Was it possible that there would be changes in the Shen family?

Nobody dared to move after hearing what Shen Ziqiao shouted.

Old wife Li’s face had been slapped badly battered, she cried out in anguished, “Save me, the Third Miss is killing people, save me ah…”

Hong Yu turned to look at Shen Ziqiao, the Old Madam would definitely be alerted should this continued.

“Let her cry.” Shen Ziqiao said coldly.

Cui Ping grew restless as she looked at Shen Ziqiao, whose fair and clear face glistened under the sunlight.

The Third Miss… seemed different. Perhaps it was due to the impending return of Master and the Young Master, as that there would soon be someone for her to rely on, thus she no longer willing to sit still and be bullied anymore?

Even while the Master and Young Master were at home, Third Miss had never before stood up for a maidservant like this.
