On a day in June 1991, the sunlight brightly illuminated all the houses and their small front gardens in a middle-class residential area near Regent's Park in London.
Since it was a Sunday, many people took advantage of the good weather to walk their dogs, trim their lawns, or simply move their lounge chairs or mats to their front yards or the lawns of the nearby park to bask in the sun. If you looked down the street from one end, you could see that almost every household had someone out enjoying the rare London sunshine.
However, not everyone was basking in the summer sun. In a hospital at the end of the street, in a ward by the window, a child with brown hair and brown eyes, his head wrapped in bandages, lay on the bed, frowning as he looked out the window at the middle-class neighborhood of London. Next to him was a palm-sized figurine.
"Granger family, dentist, sister, Hermione Granger..." The child muttered some incoherent words, his gaze wandering over the neighborhood below. He couldn't believe that he had somehow been transported to the magical world of Harry Potter.
The boy's name was Hugo Granger, and he was 11 years old, having just graduated from primary school. His parents were both dentists and owned a dental clinic in this neighborhood, where they also lived. They were well-respected in the community.
If it were just the above information, Hugo might have thought he had simply been transported into the body of a British person from 30 years ago. However, the problem was that when he woke up in the hospital bed yesterday, he saw not only his parents but also a familiar figure.
At least Hugo, who had watched the eight Harry Potter movies twice in his previous life, swore he could not have mistaken the person at such close range. The memories that flooded his mind afterward confirmed certain things.
Perhaps because he had drowned and hit his head on the concrete edge of the artificial lake, his parents immediately called medical staff when they saw Hugo wake up and then fall back asleep. After the medical staff confirmed that he was just exhausted and had fallen asleep, they left the ward with their daughter, leaving Hugo to rest.
Over the course of the night, Hugo confirmed his current situation: in his previous life, he was a doctor who, on a rainy day, was about to go see the re-release of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" when he encountered a traffic accident. As he bravely began to help the injured person who had been carried to the sidewalk, he was unfortunately hit by another car that couldn't stop in the rain, sending him to this world.
However, because an infant's brain cannot support an adult's thoughts, the memories of his previous life had been hidden deep in his mind for the 11 years since he was transported here. It was only due to a fatal accident that he regained his memories from his previous life.
Since it was the same person, there was no issue of one identity consuming the other. But because the 30 years of memories from his previous life were far more than the 11 years of this life, Hugo felt as if he had been reborn 30 years ago as an 11-year-old British boy, complete with all his memories.
After accepting the 11 years of memories, Hugo realized that he might not have simply been reborn in a foreign country but had actually changed worlds. In his memories, he had a twin sister named Hermione Granger.
A name alone didn't prove much, as there were many people with the same name. But considering the striking resemblance to the character in the movies and his parents' profession as dentists, Hugo felt the probability of all this being a coincidence was extremely low. Clearly, he had come to the world of Harry Potter.
Upon realizing he was in a completely different world, he first worried about his family and friends from his previous life. Fortunately, he had a brother who could take care of his parents, and his parents would receive government assistance for his heroic act. After feeling down for a while, he quickly focused on his current situation. After all, some things couldn't be changed, and he had to look forward.
In the original story, Hermione Granger was an only child, but considering he was a穿越者 (穿越者 means "穿越者" in Chinese, which translates to "time traveler" or "transmigrator" in English), the change in identity didn't necessarily mean this wasn't the original world.
As a devoted fan of the Harry Potter series, he was very familiar with the magical world and longed to have a chance to experience it, especially after coming to this world, where that longing became even stronger.
Unfortunately, according to the memories he had just received, he had never experienced a magical outburst. This meant he was likely a Muggle, an ordinary person without magical abilities.
This was actually a normal situation, as his parents in this life were not wizards. Even among twins, it wasn't strange for only one to be a wizard, like the rare cases of the Creevey brothers.
But this was too cruel for Hugo. Coming to this world and having a sister who was a main character but being unable to access the most appealing part of this world was truly awful.
Fortunately, he had the mindset of an adult to help him adjust, preventing him from becoming resentful like Harry Potter's Aunt Petunia.
After readjusting his mindset, Hugo began to examine himself and think about his future. Although the memories of his first 11 years had not awakened, the subconscious influence of his adult mind had made him excel in his studies. During his self-examination, he discovered he had an almost photographic memory.
"Even if I can't become a wizard, my prospects are still very promising," Hugo thought. Apart from the family background of having parents who were dentists with their own clinic in London and the 30 years of foresight from his previous life's memories, his academic level alone, if maintained, would ensure a bright future.
Especially when he recalled that he had gone out before falling into the pool because he and Hermione had just completed the final round of interviews at Chetham's School.
After the interview, he was told that both of them were almost certain to be admitted. This school was one of the top ten secondary schools in the UK, and graduates generally had very promising futures.
On the way back, he and his sister chatted excitedly, but tragedy struck. After getting off the bus, they encountered a mad dog on the street. Hugo, in a moment of chivalry, tried to lead the dog away from Hermione, but in his panic, he fell into the artificial lake. Fortunately, someone nearby bravely drove the dog away and pulled him out of the lake, taking him to the hospital.
"Being a promising ordinary person isn't so bad," Hugo thought, looking at the sky gradually brightening outside. He subconsciously reached into the bed to fetch his phone to pass the time, and to his surprise, he felt a hard, square object near his thigh.
