After everyone in the house had returned to their rooms to sleep, Hugo called out to Victory and prepared to begin summoning his first ship girl. However, the problem now was how he was going to summon the ship girl.
According to Victory, as long as he summoned the phone within three meters of the bond object or location, he could summon the ship girl at that location through some kind of mystical connection.
But this presented a huge difficulty: the process had to be done in complete privacy. Otherwise, the sudden appearance of a person would be hard to explain. For Hugo, who was only 11 years old, it was difficult to find a moment of solitude.
However, after explaining the difficulties to Victory, she quickly proposed a highly feasible suggestion: she told Hugo that since fate points could not only be used to summon ship girls but also to exchange for avatars from the game to enhance himself, why didn't he exchange for an avatar that would facilitate his actions?
"By exchanging for those avatars, I can transform into their appearance and inherit some of the powers they represent," Hugo said after listening to Victory's detailed explanation. He felt he had misunderstood something before, underestimating the power of exchanging for these abilities.
"Yes, that's right," Victory nodded and continued, "But since you have only summoned me as the guiding ship girl, you can only exchange for two avatars."
After looking down at his phone, Hugo found that most of the dozens of avatars were dark, with only two being very bright. One was an African American male officer wearing sunglasses, and the other was a female officer with short blonde hair.
"Let's choose this African American officer, because he looks very robust and should provide enough help for our future actions," Hugo said, not wanting to dress as a woman. He followed Victory's instructions and used his consciousness to select the avatar to exchange for. Since it was a basic avatar, it only cost one fate point.
Instantly, a warm current flowed from Hugo's phone into his body. When the warm current ended, he felt something new in his mind, and his physical strength had significantly increased.
"I am—," Hugo said, picking up a grip strengthener from the corner and squeezing it. To his surprise, the grip strengthener showed that his single-handed grip strength had reached 52 kilograms, which was an excellent level for an adult male.
"Your current strength is equivalent to that of a well-built and trained adult male," Victory pointed out. "Now, search your mind. Besides the improvement in physical attributes, these avatars should also come with other effects, not just making you stronger."
"Let me see—," Hugo closed his eyes, and indeed, he felt some special information in his mind. The knowledge contained in this information was not extensive, but it was quite practical.
For example, the knowledge included basic gun handling, gun maintenance, and combat skills, as the avatar was an African American naval officer, and these fundamental skills were definitely not lacking.
In addition, the most powerful aspect of this avatar was that it allowed Hugo to directly transform into the appearance of the African American naval officer, giving him greater confidence in his future actions. After all, in an era where surveillance cameras are widespread, doing things with his own face would not be very convenient.
Perhaps because the system's power was strong enough, the transformation could even change his clothes, avoiding the awkward possibility of having to run around naked every time he transformed due to a significant change in his physical appearance.
Hugo's requirements for his first ship girl were simple: she needed to have sufficient combat power. After all, this world was not very safe, and he felt it was best to find a few powerful ship girls to protect himself before his own strength grew. In other words, the first ship girl he summoned would likely be a large warship that required five fate points to summon.
"By the way, you said you can sense the location of the ship girl summoning medium within a certain distance. What is that distance?" After roughly adapting to his new body in the bedroom, Hugo turned to ask Victory a crucial question.
"This is uncertain, as the distance changes with your own strength," Victory shrugged. "For example, after you gained the first avatar and enhanced yourself, my detection radius increased from 100 meters to about 500 meters."
"If it's 500 meters, then many things will be much easier," Hugo smiled. "I think my parents and sister are already asleep, so now is a good time to set out."
After saying this, Hugo transformed into the African American officer and had Victory climb into his pocket. He then climbed onto the desk, opened the window, and climbed down the drainpipe to the lawn. Finally, he crossed the lawn and got into a taxi, heading northeast.
"Where are we going?" Victory's voice sounded in Hugo's mind as they sat in the car. As Hugo's guide, they could communicate not only through ordinary conversation but also directly in their minds through a spiritual connection.
"To the center of London," Hugo said. "It's 10:30 PM now, and we're heading directly to the Imperial War Museum in London. The roads are relatively empty at this time, so we should reach our destination in about ten minutes."
"You're right, that's a good idea," Victory agreed. "After all, your home is near London, and the only place in the vicinity that can provide enough options for summoning ship girls is this museum."
"Yes, that's how I thought," Hugo acknowledged as the taxi sped towards the city center on the highway.
In the early 1990s, London was not as congested as it would be in the future, especially after 10:30 PM. So, just 15 minutes later, the black taxi stopped at the entrance of the Imperial War Museum.
After getting out of the car, Hugo, with Victory sitting on his shoulder, approached an inconspicuous spot. Victory then summoned a small 3D map that only Hugo could see in front of him.
"Indeed, we came to the right place," Victory said, looking at the numerous red dots on the blue map. "But we need to choose carefully next."
