In the Bamboo Garden of Chengdu University, Wu Long and his group surrounded Li Mang, their expressions a mix of mockery and coldness.
"The goddess is not for toads to eat," Wu Long sneered at Li Mang.
"Are you talking about yourself?" Li Mang retorted. He was just a young man in his prime, full of vigor. While he had to endure humiliation and bear heavy burdens at the Yanhuang Academy, he didn't need to be cautious in the outside world.
"Looking for death!" Wu Long was immediately enraged. No one had ever spoken to him like that. He immediately threw a punch at Li Mang's face.
"Rich brat!" Li Mang narrowed his eyes and only punched back when the other's fist was almost upon him, meeting it head-on.
"Bang!"
"Hmph!" Wu Long grunted, quickly pulling his hand back, which was trembling slightly. His face was a mix of red and blue, and the mockery in his eyes, which had been like an eagle playing with a chick, was now replaced by shock.
"Huh?" Li Mang was also surprised. This Wu Long seemed not as incompetent as he had imagined. At the moment of the collision, the other had sensed the danger and quickly pulled back his fist, which significantly reduced the damage.
"Who the hell are you!" Wu Long looked at Li Mang with suspicion and shock.
"You don't have the right to know!" Li Mang said frankly.
"..." Wu Long's face turned bright red.
"Master Wu, why waste words on this punk? He actually dared to have designs on our sister-in-law!" One of the lackeys started to fawn and then attacked Li Mang.
Wu Long did not stop him, only narrowing his eyes. Everything had happened too quickly, and he even suspected it was just an illusion. Letting them try might not be a bad idea.
Li Mang naturally disliked these people who relied on others' power. He didn't feel he was bullying the weak, so he didn't hold back and started to fight. These few people could bully younger students, but they were no match for Li Mang. He easily knocked them all down without much effort.
Looking at the groaning lackeys on the ground, Wu Long's eyes narrowed tightly, a mix of anger and caution. After a long while, he finally asked, trying to remain calm, "Who are you really?"
"You really don't have the right to know!" Li Mang emphasized again, and then attacked, using a hand blade to strike at Wu Long.
"Hmph!" Wu Long grunted, kicking out with his long legs, which gave him a significant advantage. His leg techniques were also powerful.
However, Li Mang's hand blade suddenly changed direction, grabbing Wu Long's leg and throwing him forcefully onto the grass— "Bang!"
Although the grass was soft, landing on his chest with such force still made Wu Long feel suffocated, his vision blurred, and he nearly fainted.
Li Mang dusted off his hands. Since his anger had been mostly vented, he had no interest in wasting time with these young masters. He left, leaving Wu Long with a face full of gloom and hatred.
At the Wu family residence.
"Slap!"
"How dare he! This boy is so audacious!" Wu Hong slapped the table, causing the teacups to jump.
"Father, this person disregards our Wu family's authority. You must avenge me!" Wu Long stood in front, pleading his case, but then added a friendly reminder, "This person is very strong. Perhaps only Grandfather can defeat him."
"Hmph! Why use a sledgehammer to crack a nut?" Wu Hong sneered.
"You're right, Father, but if you take action, you should send more people!" Wu Long was cautious. Though he was a rich brat, he wasn't stupid. From his encounter with Li Mang, he knew Li Mang's strength was far greater than it seemed.
"Who said I would send people to deal with him?" Wu Hong looked at his son with a cold expression, his anger rising at his son's meekness. "I've told you many times, the times have changed. Even though our Wu family can rule Chengdu, we must be extremely cautious. If things get out of hand, the higher-ups will hold us accountable, and no one can bear that!"
"Father, I understand!" Wu Long responded obediently, though he didn't really agree.
"We need to investigate his identity first. If he's just a nobody, we'll make him suffer. But if he's someone we can't afford to offend, you must not cause any more trouble!" Wu Hong warned.
"Father, rest assured. This person is poorly dressed and is not likely to be a high-ranking official. Besides, he has designs on Chen Zining, who is designated to be the Wu family's future daughter-in-law. How can we allow others to infringe on her?" Wu Long tried to persuade.
"I will handle this!" Wu Hong did not give a clear answer, then his expression turned cold as he asked, "Have you revealed your martial arts skills?"
"..." Wu Long's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly replied, "No, the other person was ruthless, and I was knocked out before I could use my true strength!"
The Wu family had a rule that no one could reveal their martial arts skills, or they would be expelled from the family. Wu Long found this rule absurd, but it was established by his grandfather, who was always extremely serious about it. He didn't dare to admit anything, even to his father.
But, whether Li Mang had discovered his ancient martial arts, Wu Long wasn't sure. So, he wasn't lying when he said this. He spoke with confidence.
"Hopefully, that's true. If this secret leaks, it will cause catastrophic damage to our Wu family. You must remember this!" Wu Hong emphasized, his eyes flashing with a fierce look.
Despite his son's assurances, he still couldn't be sure if the mysterious young man knew anything. Therefore, he had to take all precautions, including eliminating the threat. This was a matter of life and death for the entire Wu family, and he had to be cautious and ruthless!
In a hotel near the south gate of Chengdu, Li Mang was studying the information about the Chen sisters. He read it carefully, scrutinizing every word, trying to find a way in. He needed to find a starting point, or he wouldn't be able to investigate further.
If possible, it would be much easier to reveal his identity and meet them directly, but the mission forbade it. He couldn't reveal any secrets of the Yanhuang Academy until he had identified the specific target, and he was also worried about alerting them. Therefore, his only option was to find a way to get close to them, first identifying who had superpowers, and then planning his next move.
"Knock, knock!"
The sudden knock on the door startled Li Mang. He frowned, locked the confidential information in the Yanhuang-issued password box, and then walked to the door.
"Who..."
Li Mang's voice froze. Outside, a steel pipe was pointing at him—it was a gun, a machine gun. The cold metal at the end of the barrel made him tense, ready to dodge at any moment.
"Police, don't move!" The person holding the gun issued a cold, merciless warning. His identity was clear—it was a police officer, which left Li Mang feeling bewildered.
...
The number of recommendation votes hasn't even reached a thousand, which is quite pitiful. I beg for your support again.
