What would be a good name?
I think about it while looking at the tamed beast that has become a matured beast.
To be honest, I don’t have a great sense of naming.
At least, I want to give it a decent name.
Thinking about it, a book like the dictionary of names that Father Paulo had (estimated) would be really helpful.
A creature with a body like a horse with horns.
That’s a concise description of my tamed beast.
So, the name that comes to mind is Unicorn, right?
But, I remember that a unicorn is characterized by a single, long, straight horn.
This one has two horns, and they’re not straight, so it doesn’t really seem like a unicorn.
A one-horned beast is a unicorn, but a two-horned beast is called a Bicorn, right?
Using that as a hint, I try to come up with a clever name, but nothing really comes to mind.
So, I imagine a word association game.
Bicorn… Bi… Vai… Viking…
Va… Va… Va…
…Valkyrie.
How about Valkyrie?
I’m pretty sure it refers to the warrior goddesses from mythology.
My tamed beast is covered in white fur, and when the sunlight hits it, it sparkles and sometimes looks silver.
Because of that, it seems somewhat sacred.
It might be a pretty good name, don’t you think?
“Your name, how about Valkyrie?”
“Kui!”
When I ask my tamed beast, it nods in response while making eye contact.
It’s a smart one.
It might understand our language to some extent.
Since it doesn’t seem to dislike it, I’ll go with this.
“Alright, then I’ll start the naming ceremony.”
And so, I named my tamed beast.

I sit my tamed beast in front of me and stand before it.
Then, I visualize the magic circle I learned from the [Memory Storage] spell in my head.
Recently, I’ve been able to refine my magic power as naturally as breathing, but this time I do it carefully and delicately.
I close my eyes and take deep breaths multiple times, drawing the magic power floating in the air into my body and thoroughly mixing it with my own magic power in my abdomen.
While repeatedly taking deep breaths, I focus on increasing the concentration of my magic power.
I then let the magic power circulate throughout my body, filling myself, the vessel, with magic power.
While maintaining this state, I slowly move the magic power to my hands.
Not just to my hands, but I concentrate all the magic power into my right index finger.
I gradually release the gathered magic power outside my body.
However, I don’t just release it into the air; I focus on keeping it in place.
This is more difficult than I thought.
If I let my guard down, the magic power might dissipate in an instant.
Sweat starts to pour from my body.
This is the moment to concentrate.
I exhale and move on to the next step.
I shape the magic power from my fingertips into threads and use them to draw the magic circle.
I can feel the blood rushing to my head as if it might burst.
The load is much greater compared to moving magic power within my body.
But, I mustn’t rush.
I reproduce the magic circle exactly as I remembered it.
I don’t know how much time has passed.
My body is drenched in sweat, and my throat is parched.
However, thanks to all this effort, I successfully created the magic circle.
But, I’m almost at my limit.
I gather my last bit of strength and announce to my tamed beast:
“Naming, from now on, you are Valkyrie.”
As I said this, the magic circle I drew at my fingertips glowed intensely and then immediately subsided.
In the next moment, the magic circle disappeared into the air.
I fall to my knees, panting heavily.
The burden was greater than I expected.
If I had failed, it would have been a disaster.
After a while, once my breathing has steadied, I decide to check if the naming of Valkyrie was successful.
