Chapter 22

"Alright, let's try using magic, Valkyrie."

"Kyu!"

When I said this after naming her, Valkyrie responded and slowly stood up.

She's still huge.

Her face is at a height I have to look up to, even as a child.

As I watched Valkyrie stand up, she moved outside.

It seems she's going to demonstrate her magic outside the hideout.

Indeed, it's better than using fire inside the house.

She's a smart one, thinking ahead of me.

Following Valkyrie, I headed outside the hideout.

The area outside the brick hideout is spacious.

Although it was originally a forest, it has been leveled and is now a field.

However, the field is still surrounded by the forest.

Looking around, there's no one in sight.

After confirming the surroundings, Valkyrie's magic demonstration finally began.

"Kyu"

Valkyrie, in her horse form, let out a cute sound.

She must have just cast a spell.

A ball of light shot out in front of her.

Even in the bright midday sun, the light was clearly visible.

This is undoubtedly the "Lighting" spell from daily magic.

"Amazing, Valkyrie. You can really use magic. Good, try some other spells to see if you can use them too."

It seems the naming ceremony was successful.

Not only did she get a name, but the naming was properly done, allowing her to use magic.

I was so happy that I jumped up and down while giving her instructions.

Valkyrie continued to demonstrate various daily magic spells one after another.

She used "Ignition," "Drinking Water," and "Cleaning" without any problems.

Watching her, it seems the scale of the daily magic effects is standardized, just like when I use them.

However, my leisurely observation came to an end.

"Ku!"

Valkyrie activated another spell.

This was not a daily magic spell.

It was my original magic.

Valkyrie created a brick in front of me using magic.

"What the heck is this?"

Seeing the newly created brick, I was so surprised that I was momentarily stunned.

However, Valkyrie continued to demonstrate more spells.

"Land Leveling" to flatten the ground instantly.

" Soil Improvement" to turn the field's soil into high-quality soil.

"Brick Generation" to create bricks instantly.

And, although not easily visible, she also demonstrated "Magic Infusion" to send magic power into logs when creating magic mushrooms, and "Body Enhancement."

I don't know the details, but I think the last spell she showed was "Memory Preservation."

All of these were supposed to be my original magic spells.

At least, I know that the other children who received names during the church's baptism could only use daily magic.

Could there have been some error in the magic circle?

Or is there a difference in the naming ceremony itself?

There are too many things I can't understand.

However, I noticed something else.

Valkyrie can only use the spells I have named.

For example, I can create tableware made of porcelain or glass using magic, but I didn't need more than what I gave to my mother, so I didn't mass-produce them, and the spells were not verbalized.

That's probably why, no matter how much I explained and demonstrated, Valkyrie couldn't create tableware.

Well, such magic isn't necessary for a horse-type servant like her...

There's also another point of concern regarding verbalized spells.

It's about the effects of the magic itself.

For example, when I cast the "Land Leveling" spell, I can flatten a 10m square area.

However, I often level the ground without using the spell.

In those cases, I imagine the area to be leveled in my head and consume the appropriate amount of magic power to activate the spell.

This way, I can level a larger area with a single spell, and it's more convenient because I don't have to move around.

However, Valkyrie couldn't change the effect range by altering the image and magic power consumption.

She could only affect the fixed area I set when verbalizing the spell.

So, while she could improve her body's movement with "Body Enhancement," she couldn't further enhance her body functions by increasing the magic power consumption.

It also seemed impossible for her to concentrate magic power on her eyes or limbs to strengthen those parts, as I can.

Considering this, a hypothesis might hold.

Naming someone allows them to use magic.

However, it's not limited to daily magic; the named individual is inputted with the spells of the namer and cannot alter them.

This explains why I couldn't customize daily magic as I liked.

Indeed, the naming ceremony in the baptism seems to be more of a systematic process than a divine blessing.

However, this raises a problem.

Valkyrie.

If just naming her allows her to learn magic, and this is explained as a divine blessing, is it okay to use her, who can use not only daily magic but also my original magic, as a servant for business?

I might need to confirm this aspect.

While petting Valkyrie, who was pushing her horned head against me as if saying, "Praise me," I thought about the future.
