Chapter 76

Cameron, a bit bewildered, guided me to the classroom where the lecture was being held.

The corridor we had just passed through had no windows, and the walls were thick and sturdy, but the classroom where the lecture was taking place was visible from outside and the corridor, and the atmosphere was markedly bright. Each student had their own desk, and a man who seemed to be a teacher stood at the front.

Seeing the familiar academy scenery, Shenery and Ail, among others, looked relieved and smiled.

Cameron glanced at my face furtively as he opened the door to the lecture room. The sound caused the teacher and students inside to turn their attention to us.

"I've brought a visitor. Please continue the lecture as usual."

When Cameron said this, the man who seemed to be the teacher cleared his throat and resumed the lecture.

"…Then, let's return to fire magic. As a basic, I believe everyone can cast a fireball using the seventh incantation. Next, let's try changing the shape of the fireball. A good starting point would be the shape of an arrow."

Saying this, the teacher demonstrated the fire magic. The students watched intently, trying to imprint the image in their minds.

"…How about it? Do you have any thoughts?"

Cameron, perhaps feeling uneasy, lowered his tone and asked.

"Well… The teacher mentioned it's a basic, and I think it's good to start with this level of magic. However, the incantation is a bit complex, so I suggest proposing a simpler incantation to the teacher first…"

Speaking in a low voice, I conveyed this, and Cameron nodded deeply.

"I see. That incantation is the foundation of fire magic, and I've heard it's broken down to make it easier for students to understand, even though it's long. Is it still too complex for you, Aoi-dono?"

In response to Cameron's question, I shook my head.

"It's not that complex, but I believe it can be more straightforward."

After answering, I explained the incantation needed for fire magic.

"The current incantation involves bringing out magic power on the palm, fixing it, changing it into fire, and increasing its momentum. Then, it involves releasing the fixed position, rechanging the magic power, and finally, firing it, which is a seven-step process. If we can reduce this to three steps—output of magic power, change to fire and combustion, and firing—the incantation can be completed in three sections."

"…I see. But wouldn't the power decrease with a three-section incantation?"

"It wouldn't. The power can be adjusted more effectively without the extra incantations for fixing magic power. Additionally, shape changes would be easier with a seven-section incantation."

My response made Cameron frown, looking troubled. He seemed to be deep in thought. Was he struggling to understand my words, or was he trying to come up with a counterargument to defend his own common sense?

Regardless, I thought a discussion was necessary. It wasn't a matter of who was right between Mapleleaf and me; it was just a difference in teaching methods and perspectives.

However, I believed that Owen's research on incantations was the most correct.

"I apply the same thinking to healing magic."

As soon as I said this, Cameron's relaxed expression vanished. Clearly, he had a strong sense of pride in healing magic.

I could praise Mapleleaf and leave, preserving their national pride. However, that wouldn't help achieve my goal of raising the level of magic in various countries.

Therefore, I decided to share as much of my knowledge and skills as possible.

Thinking this, I spoke, but Cameron might have perceived it as a challenge. His smile had completely disappeared.

"…In other words, you're saying that our healing magic is also immature?"

"No, it's not that it's immature. I just think there might be a more efficient way. Of course, my ideas could be wrong, so feel free to take them as a reference."

I chose my words carefully to avoid provoking him, but Cameron seemed to be on high alert.

"…I see. Then, I'd like to see you demonstrate it. I don't think the knowledge and skills of healing magic that Mapleleaf has accumulated over the years can be overturned so easily."

Cameron said this with a hint of frustration, and I nodded, making a suggestion.

"Then, let's start by showing me the knowledge of the human body and the healing magic that Mapleleaf possesses, one by one."

As I said this, Cameron's smile clearly tightened.
