Chapter 1

"Forgive me, Rihito."
"…What?"
It happened suddenly.
In front of Rihito, who is a member of an S-rank adventurer party, appeared an old man with a familiar face. He held a neatly arranged document in his hand, and before Rihito knew it, he was surrounded by more than ten soldiers.
"What's going on...?"
Rihito desperately tried to make sense of the situation, but he couldn't think of any reason why he would be treated this way. The situation was incomprehensible, but he intuitively understood that there was no way to escape. There was no one nearby to call for help.
All he could do was wait for the old man's response.
"If you look at this document, you'll understand. A death sentence has been issued by the country. Don't take it personally."
"Death sentence!? What did I do!? I've paid my taxes properly, and I've been active as an adventurer—"
"—It's your skill that's the problem."
Rihito couldn't hide his shock at the unexpected words from the old man. A death sentence from the country is only issued for major crimes. Rihito was visibly shaken by the unjust punishment.
And the only word he was told, as he desperately tried to resist, was something he couldn't accept.
"You mean... the skill *Resurrection*? What's the problem with it!?"
"Your skill is too dangerous. Yes, it has saved many people, but the power to resurrect even monsters is troublesome if misused. Besides, according to rumors, if it fails, it creates zombies, right?"
"That's—unfair! I would never misuse it! And the part about creating zombies is a lie!"
Even if the old man explained further, Rihito couldn't accept it.
The ability to resurrect even monsters was true. *Resurrection* could be applied to various races, not just humans.
However, the idea of misuse was unjust. The part about creating zombies was a complete lie. Rihito had never failed to use *Resurrection*.
"That's right! Talk to the rest of the party!"
"Sure, let's talk."
"Huh?"
The old man took a step to the right, revealing Allen, a fellow member of the S-rank adventurer party.
Before Rihito could think about why Allen was there, Allen spoke with a look of regret.
"Rihito, I'm sorry. We can't go against the country's orders. Please bear with it for the sake of the party."
"What are you talking about...? If I leave the party—"
"True, we relied on you at first. But now, we won't make mistakes that could get us killed on quests. In other words, your skill is no longer necessary."
The cold, dismissive words made it clear where Rihito stood in the party. He couldn't immediately counter such a straightforward explanation.
As Rihito tried to think of his next words, he was easily restrained by one of the soldiers.
"That's right. Accept your execution without any regrets. Thank you for your contributions to the country."
Without waiting for Rihito's response, he was blindfolded and handcuffed, making it impossible for him to move.
The last thing Rihito saw was Allen receiving a large reward from the old man.
I'll update another chapter around 8 PM.
