Chapter 2

"Richt, is there anything you want to say before you go?"

"…Where is this place?"

Richt glared at the executioner with a look of hatred. However, the executioner seemed accustomed to such gazes in his line of work and showed no signs of being intimidated. Instead, he smiled pleasantly.

"As you can see, this is an execution ground. After I stab your heart, I'll push you off this cliff. You'll die without suffering much."

"Scum"

"Scum? You should be grateful. I could still change the plan to make you suffer to the extreme. Watch your mouth."

The executioner glanced at the torture instruments. It seemed he was telling the truth.

If Richt hadn't been handcuffed, he might have been able to put up some resistance. However, he wasn't the kind of man to make such a mistake.

"Well, I feel sorry for you, being executed like this. Your luck—huh? Time's up for chitchat."

A mysterious sound, *pan*, echoed through the execution ground. From the executioner's reaction, it seemed to be the signal to proceed. Without any time to prepare himself, Richt's execution was about to begin.

"Who would have thought an S-rank adventurer would end up like this. Life is unpredictable. How about betting on the possibility of not dying?"

"If you're going to do it, get it over with."

"Alright then," the executioner muttered.

"Goodbye."

"――Gah!!"

It hurt. That was all Richt could think about.

The executioner was a professional, and the blade pierced his heart with perfect precision. This alone was a fatal wound, but to ensure his death, a kick was delivered to his back.

With no strength left to resist, Richt fell from the cliff like a rock. The executioner's efficiency was almost beautiful.

"Heh, finally done with today's work. It was an unusually busy day."

The executioner wiped the blood from his blade and walked away, looking satisfied.

Richt was already out of his mind. He didn't even perform the usual death confirmation, a sign of his negligence.

And there, the skill *Resurrection* activated.

The failure to properly confirm death would become the biggest mistake for the executioner—and for humanity. No one knew this yet.

I'll update another chapter around 10 PM.
