I decided to run away.
After thinking that, there was only one action I could take. I was despairing over what my brother said at noon, but all I had to do was run away.
Fortunately, this place is at the edge of our territory, a rural area that isn't heavily monitored. Until now, I was forced to live in a mansion near the capital, and even if I tried to run away, the servants would block my way.
But I can make it here!
I packed a bag with the bare minimum of essentials and more cash than necessary. I can manage a civilian life. I might even be suited for it. I'll become a fisherwoman. That's what I'll do.
After finishing my preparations, I reached for the window. If I went out the front door, someone might see me. When it comes to running away, the window is the standard choice.
I opened the window, grabbed my bag, and jumped down. It was the second floor, so my legs felt a bit numb, but it wasn't a problem. Now, run and escape!
"No, I won't let you go."
My attempt to run was thwarted when someone stepped on the hem of my dress, causing me to trip. I hit the ground face-first, and my eyes started to water from the impact.
"If you run away, I can't escape from the princess education either."
The culprit who made me fall was still stepping on my hem.
"You were sympathizing with me earlier, saying it was tough!"
"I sympathize, but I can't let you go."
"That's so mean! I thought we might become friends, even a little bit!"
"That doesn't mean I didn't think it!"
I tried to pull the hem out from under her foot, but it wouldn't budge. What strength!
"If you come back, they'll cancel the princess education. I won't let you go."
I see, so you came with my brother to make sure I didn't run away.
"Please, just let it go."
"Who's going to let it go?"
"If you become my stand-in, you'll be the proud mother of the nation! Isn't that great?"
"I already said I gave up on that!"
Hmm, she's not giving in easily. In fact, she's trying her hardest to keep her foot in place, but it's not moving at all. She's really strong! Is she a hidden muscle girl?
While I was thinking about this, another person joined us.
"Letitia, you're being noisy at night."
"Brother, do something about this brat!"
"My name is Brianna!"
"I'll let you marry Brother if you let me go!"
I shouted this in a fit of desperation, and the brat looked at me.
"What did you say?"
...This might work!
"Twenty-two years old, the heir of a ducal family, brilliant mind, excellent athletic ability, and a tall, handsome man. His future is practically guaranteed! How about it?"
"I'm in!"
The brat's foot moved away.
"Thank you, I won't forget you. Brother, have a lovely time together."
"Hey, Letitia!"
"Freedom!"
I shouted and took off running. I could hear my brother's shouts from behind, but I ignored them. If you want to get married, the best way is to create a fait accompli, so good luck!
I ran lightly, but suddenly a hand grabbed my stomach from behind.
I was running with momentum, so the hand dug into my stomach, almost making me fall back.
Was it my brother who caught up?
As I thought this and tried to catch my breath, I saw my former fiancé standing behind me.
"Letitia"
The handsome smile in the dark was creepy.
Lord Clark leaned in close to my ear.
"Since the dress is white by default, which color should we choose for the change of clothes?"
That's not what we should be talking about right now.
