Chapter 5

After that, I continued exploring the vast dungeon for about an hour.
During this time, I encountered kobolds twice and successfully repelled them both times without injury. I felt that my movements had become lighter, perhaps due to my increased agility, making it a bit easier to handle the situations.
However—
"Finally, two kobolds."
I was just thinking about leaving the dungeon for lunch when I finally encountered two kobolds.
The old man at the armory had warned me to be careful when facing more than one at a time, but even without that warning, I could tell they were troublesome.
Fighting one kobold twice and fighting two kobolds at the same time are worlds apart in difficulty.
It would be nice if there were a narrow passage where they couldn't attack me simultaneously, but there was nothing like that nearby.
The cave passages are quite wide, with an average width and height of about twice my height.
While I was casually looking around, the two kobolds ran toward me.
"Well, there's no choice."
I know it's troublesome, but I don't feel like losing. I took my spear and decided to face the two kobolds head-on.

"Ouch, ouch, ouch..."
After a few dozen seconds of intense battle, the two kobolds had turned into two magic stones.
However, I wasn't left unscathed. I couldn't fend off their attacks completely and received a stab from one of the kobolds' daggers in my left shoulder.
It wasn't a fatal wound, but it hurt, and the wound was bleeding, staining my clothes red.
Explorers are much harder to kill compared to ordinary people and have a healing ability that is incomparably higher.
Even deep cuts or stab wounds stop bleeding in less than a minute, and damaged organs can be fully repaired with a night's rest, as long as you don't die.
I'm no longer human.
So, being stabbed in the shoulder by a dagger isn't a fatal injury for an explorer. There's usually enough time to check your HP in the status menu before healing.
After checking, my HP was "20/24." So, I lost 4 points of HP. Noted.
The initial shock of taking damage had passed, and I was in a state where I could continue, but I decided to use magic to heal myself.
"Earth Heal"
I placed my hand on the wound and used the healing magic, and the pain subsided, making me feel better. When I lifted my shirt to look, the wound had healed so cleanly that I couldn't even tell where I had been stabbed.
Checking my status, my HP was "24/24" and my MP was "17/21." The MP cost for "Earth Heal" was 4.
The healing amount—while I can't be sure, it was enough to fully recover from a 4-point injury.
"Alright, let's head back."
I picked up the two magic stones from the kobolds and put them in my wallet before retracing my steps.
While my status suggests I could continue, I didn't bring lunch, and you can't fight on an empty stomach. So, I decided to return.
By the way, on my way back, I encountered another kobold and repelled it. I leveled up at this moment.

Remaining Skill Points: 1 (+1)
My level increased from 2 to 3, and my strength, endurance, and magic each increased by 1 point. I also gained 1 skill point.
HP and MP are said to be "Endurance × 3" and "Magic × 3" respectively, unless you have a specific skill, which is why they increased by 3 points each.
I can wait until I leave the dungeon to learn a new skill.
I walked back to the magic circle at the entrance of the dungeon and teleported to the cave on the riverbank.
After my first dungeon exploration, I returned to the surface after a few hours.
