¨You don’t get to do that, ¨ she stops pacing and stares me dead in the eyes, ¨Okay, you don’t get to tell me that you love me and that you want me and then j-just leave.¨
¨Makyla, I’m sorry, but I can’t do this anymore. I can’t stay with you when I don’t feel the way I used to. I don’t want to use you, ¨ I respond.
¨It’s her, isn’t it the girl who you were with the other day? ¨ She asks. The tears start to stain her cheeks. ¨You can’t tell me forever and then just want someone else so quickly.¨
¨Im sorry, but I did truly mean it at the time. But I can’t help who I want to be with now. ¨ I say. It had all but killed me to not talk to Eve the past few days. I had decided that I would wait to end things with Makyla before I pursued her.
¨You don’t get to replace me like im nothing. You choose a girl that you’ve known for a day over the person you’ve been with for over two years? ¨ She says, little sadness is shown on her face. The sadness that was there only seconds earlier is now replaced with anger. ¨Stop saying you’re sorry because it doesn’t really matter because while you were thinking about her I was falling apart asking myself ´why did he say her name? ´. I gave you everything until I had nothing left. You have been my only constant, the one thing that I loved more than anything, and now you’re leaving?¨
¨Stop Makyla, okay. Would you rather have me lead you on? Cheat on you? ¨ I walk over to her and place my hand on her cheek.
¨Dont touch me. Don’t act like you are doing this for me. You are doing this for yourself. ¨ She slaps my arm and knocks my hand off her face. She walks out of the room and doesn’t look back.
She’s right. It’s selfish But I think I deserve to be a little selfish. To be a little happy. In the beginning, I was happy with her and I know I made her happy. Makayla's sister had died a little over a year and a half ago. Her parents drowned themselves and work to keep their minds off of it. But Makyla had me. I was there for her every night that she broke down crying. When she could go a few days without breaking down, I thought she was better. She became bitter. I hated the person she had become, but I had been filled with guilt by even the mere thought of leaving her what her sister had just died months before.
I feel guilty now hearing her pour out her heart. I feel like a douchebag for leading her on as long as I did, but I just couldn’t do it any longer.
