When Ling Shu heard that Ferren had fired the large-headed nails and the robbers immediately opened fire, her heart skipped a beat, but she managed to keep her composure, thus avoiding an embarrassing situation on the spot.
Subsequently, when Ferren mentioned that three robbers suddenly appeared in the bank and opened fire at him, the three people present were all taken aback. Ferren took the opportunity to reverse the order of the two unconscious robbers' deaths on the ground.
"… The robbers thought their two accomplices had already been killed by me, so they opened fire in a covering manner. After I dodged, I picked up a body and used it as a shield in front of me."
Ling Shu feigned, "PI Ferren, are you sure that's what happened? There are surveillance cameras in the bank, you know!"
Ferren was slightly taken aback. Wilson, displeased, said, "Madam, please be mindful of your words. Has the HKP now gained the authority to诱导 good citizens into confessing? My client reserves the right to pursue you."
Ling Shu's expression changed slightly, clearly indicating that Wilson's words were quite powerful.
At this moment, Ferren stepped forward to play the good guy, saying, "Old Wilson, the madam isn't trying to诱导 me, she's reminding me! As for the sequence of events I just described, it is indeed as I said!" In fact, when he reviewed the surveillance footage for any missed details, he found that the robbers had already destroyed the cameras inside the bank.
Seeing Ferren's unwavering response, Ling Shu was helpless and could only record it truthfully.
When Ferren talked about the last robber, he only said that the man had suddenly fallen ill and died of unknown causes, and it had nothing to do with him. In reality, even if the forensic department found the nail marks, they couldn't connect them to the robber's sudden death. The seven major pressure points were not fixed, and hitting them required precise timing and technique, which was nearly as unlikely as winning the lottery three times in a row.
However, the higher-ups in the police force still gave Ferren some face, and no one else besides the two major figures was involved in the questioning. Therefore, throughout the entire description, Ferren only made minor adjustments to the parts that were unfavorable to him, and the rest he recounted in detail, even explaining the principle behind the gun toss, which left the three people marveling at his skills.
"OK, the good citizen's account is almost complete!" Ferren spread his hands and said, "Madam, sir, can I go now?"
Before Zhou Jichang could speak, Wilson interjected, "Boss, you haven't done anything wrong. Whether you leave or not is entirely up to you and doesn't need their approval."
This left Zhou Jichang and Ling Shu quite embarrassed.
Ferren, however, waved his hand at him and said, "Old Wilson, you're overstepping!"
Wilson quickly bowed and stood to the side of Ferren, remaining silent.
Zhou Jichang coughed twice to ease the tension and said, "PI Ferren, you can go back to work."
"YES, SIR!" Ferren responded and left with Wilson.
After Ferren and Wilson disappeared from the door, Ling Shu couldn't help but ask Zhou Jichang, "Sir Zhou, who exactly is Ferren? Why does even Wilson follow his every word?"
"A rich man!" Zhou Jichang knew that the regulatory department could only see a person's basic information unless a formal investigation was opened, so he wasn't surprised by Ling Shu's question.
Ling Shu pulled the corner of her mouth and said, "There are many rich people in Hong Kong. How rich is he?"
"Very rich!" Zhou Jichang had seen a copy of Ferren's one billion pound asset certificate issued by UBS and knew he was not just wealthy.
In the corridor leading to the headquarters, Wilson, puzzled, said, "Boss, I really can't understand why you, with your billions of pounds, would want to be a small police officer?"
Ferren gave him a cold glance and said, "Wilson, there are many great lawyers in the world. Do you want to be fired?"
"Oh no, no, no…" Although Wilson had many clients, Ferren was the only one who paid him millions of pounds in legal fees annually.
"If you don't want to be fired, then do your job!" Just as he said this, Ferren's phone rang. It was a call from Page. "Old Wilson, wait!"
Wilson, feeling a bit dejected, was about to leave but stopped when Ferren called him. He quickly perked up and said, "Boss, what do you need?"
Ferren ignored him and answered the phone, "Hello, Page, it's me!"
Page told Ferren over the phone that Google was doing well and needed money to expand. However, due to the current environment in the U.S., venture capitalists were asking for high prices. In the spirit of keeping things in the family, he called Ferren to ask if he wanted to own more of Google's original shares.
This was exactly what Ferren wanted, but he didn't immediately express his willingness. Instead, he asked, "How much are the venture capitalists asking for?"
"The offers from several venture capitalists are similar, basically around $20 million for 8% of the original shares."
Hearing this, Ferren inwardly sneered. When did venture capitalists become philanthropists? Google was just a promising small company, and $20 million for 8% of the shares was a joke. 18% would be more reasonable.
However, Ferren pretended not to notice Page's sleight of hand and said with a smile, "Since we have a good partnership, I'll give you a fair price. $20 million for 7.5% of the shares!"
"Isn't that a bit too much? 5%?" Page tried to haggle.
Ferren said coldly, "Then find someone else!"
Page quickly said, "No, no, no… Alright, 7.5%, $20 million!"
"Deal. My personal lawyer, Wilson, will fly to LA tomorrow. Once the equity contract is signed, the funds will be transferred to Google's account!" Ferren said.
"I'll wait for him!"
After the call, Ferren instructed Wilson, "Can you fly to LA immediately?"
Wilson straightened his chest and said, "No problem, boss!"
"Remember, $20 million for 7.5% of the shares. Don't mess it up!"
Wilson nodded and, thinking he was being clever, said, "Boss, can I try to get Google to give up more shares at the same price? If I succeed, will you reward me?"
Ferren gave him a cold look and said, "I'll reward you to die. Don't be so smart!"
Wilson shrank back and quickly said, "Yes, yes, yes… I understand, $20 million for 7.5% of the shares!"
Ferren's expression softened, and he patted Wilson's shoulder, saying, "As long as you don't mess this up, I'll give you an additional three million pounds as a bonus!"
Wilson was delighted, "Boss, I'll make sure to complete the task! I'll have my secretary book the flight right away."
"Get lost!" Ferren laughed and scolded him, then headed to the Serious Crime Unit.
In the Serious Crime Unit office, after reviewing all the case files, Xie Yixin asked from outside her cubicle, "Tortoise, this case happened yesterday. Is the crime scene still under police control?"
"Probably!" Dai Yan was unsure, "Since the case was handed over this morning, I haven't asked specifically. Should I call and check?"
Xie Yixin made a gesture to call and retreated to her cubicle to continue studying the files.
A moment later, Dai Yan poked his head in and said, "Madam, the crime scene is still under police control. Do you want to go and take a look?"
Xie Yixin stood up and said, "That's exactly what I was thinking!" She then went to the main office to call her subordinates to follow her.
Shi Yiran asked, "Madam, Sir Ferren hasn't returned yet. Should we wait for him?"
Xie Yixin glared at him and scolded, "Are we not going to do our jobs just because Ferren hasn't returned?"
Shi Yiran was silent, but secretly pleased, thinking that the relationship between the madam and sir wasn't very harmonious.
"Let's go!" Xie Yixin waved her hand, and her three subordinates followed her out of the office.
"Damn!" Ferren returned to an empty office and was quite frustrated. "They can't all have left early, can they?"
Fortunately, the "nanny" Dai Yan had done his job well and left a copy of the case file on Ferren's desk. After skimming through it, Ferren quickly deduced that the place where the dismembered bodies were found was likely not the primary crime scene. Now, he had only one thing to do: go to the forensic department to see the dismembered body parts with his own eyes.
With that in mind, Ferren went to the parking lot, got into his Ferrari, and drove to the forensic department.
Outside the morgue, Ferren was about to knock when he heard someone speaking inside.
"Dr. Tsang, the police department specifically instructed that reports on these nine bodies need to be provided as soon as possible!"
"Understood, I know!" a soft voice replied, "But it's really strange that so many people died so early in the morning. What's going on?"
"Dr. Tsang, haven't you seen the news? This morning, there was a major bank robbery in Causeway Bay. A probationary inspector displayed great prowess and killed all the robbers on the spot!"
"I never watch the news!" the soft voice said, "One against nine? Did these robbers not have guns?"
"Of course not. I heard that each robber was armed with an AK-47, with very powerful firepower!"
"How is that possible?" the soft voice was surprised, "Hmm? This gunshot wound is very strange. Why is the trajectory curved after it entered the flesh?"
Hearing this, Ferren found the right moment to speak and unexpectedly pushed the door open, saying, "Because the bullet's trajectory is curved when it travels through the flesh!"
The two women in the room, wearing masks and white coats, were startled but quickly regained their composure. The taller one, with her unusually dark eyes, asked in the soft voice, "Who are you? This is a restricted area, and non-essential personnel are not allowed to enter."
"I'm not non-essential. My name is Ferren, and these guys were the ones I killed." Ferren gestured toward the bodies on the table.
The shorter female nurse gave Ferren a flirtatious look and said, "As a party involved, you shouldn't be here."
Ferren spread his hands and said, "I don't want to disturb you. I just heard that the body parts from the Shanma Village dismemberment case were sent here and wanted to see them with my own eyes."
"No way!" the soft-voiced doctor firmly refused, "You are not part of the forensic department, so you cannot participate in or interfere with our work."
Ferren rolled his eyes and said helplessly, "I'm not trying to tell you how to do your job. I just want to see the body parts, that's all."
